I doubt we'll get AF again in 2012, but I would think they'd be a lock for 2013. By that time their fourth album should be out and they'll be touring again. At some point, though, they have to get back in the studio.
They have new songs ready and Win said that he doesn't want to wait 3 years between albums again. One of them also said in a recent interview that if people expect a sequel to The Suburbs that they'd be dissapointed because they are going in the direction of Funeral and Neon Bible again.
To me that says that they are ready to get new material to the masses sooner than later. I don't see them coming back next year although that would make me very happy. I do however see the new album coming out before Bonnaroo 2012, which will also make me very happy.

They're in the middle of touring Europe right now and will be there until early September, when they return stateside to play ACL. After that, I don't see any gigs and they'll probably start work on finishing up album #4.
It was exactly 3 years and 5 months between the drop dates of Neon Bible (3/3/07) and The Suburbs (8/3/10). I seriously doubt they'll rush the next album — fall 2012 is my guess.
The reason I said that they're not waiting that long to release a new album is because Win said specifically they aren't waiting that long and I believe it was Tim talking about the direction of the album which tell me that they probably have a few songs for it already. Even if it is a June release that is still 22 months between albums and I wouldn't call that a rush by any means.

I'd love for them to play again, but it seems very unlikely to happen any time soon. Perhaps next time they drop an album. I like the talk of it coming relatively soon. I need to find those interviews!

Hope you are right about a new album coming out within a year.

I saw rumors (reported early in the year right after they won the Grammy) that album #4 was in the works for late 2011 or early 2012. Also saw interviews where both Win and Will said up to 30 songs are in various stages of development.
Maybe they're working on laying down tracks while on tour, but it sounds like a lot of work needs to be done when they get off the road after ACL. If they can get done before next 'Roo and appear there again, I'm there.
(well, I'm there regardless, but you know what I mean ...)
Their tour dates end September 3 as of right now. That's lots of time to get an album done by summer. Especially if they are talking about its direction already. That tells me they already have at least shells of songs.

Don't forget ACL Sunday, Sept. 18.
It would be awesome for them to headline 'Roo two years in a row.
While I would love for them to be back next year, I highly doubt it. To be honest I don't want them cranking out another album just yet because it probably wouldn't be as good as their past ones. I feel like if they went from three years between albums to < two years the quality would suffer. I could be wrong though.

When Win throws his tambourine in the crowd after Wake Up people are definitely going after that thing hard. Regine's face is saying OMG. haha I thought it was pretty funny

Guy reworked all the audio from the bad original stream quality. Sounds great. Reminds me of that brutally hot muggy night where AF finally played my favorite place.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
