plus we constantly abuse the 36 hour rule due to peoples work schedules and not wanting to post by phone and whatnot?
You know, I hadn't really thought about it, but I can't remember a single game I've played in where we've used the 36-hour rule the way it is written. Here is the relevant part of that rule, with the weekend stuff and procedure for removal omitted since they're not relevant here:
11. Voting will be open for 36 hours each round, or until everyone has cast their vote - whichever comes first....If you haven't voted by that time, your vote will not be counted.
From what I can remember, the 36-hour rule is rarely if ever applied if there is productive discussion about a round still going on. It's when the discussion stops and someone hasn't yet voted that this rule always comes up.
Personally, I'm for more discussion instead of strict time limits, but Mike's right that this isn't what the rule says. After this game, we might consider revising this rule to reflect the way it's actually used.
Then again, maybe I'm misremembering the past 4 or 5 games, and there's no change needed.

ntrt...you're correct in that it might need revamping. obviously closing out a round in the middle of much discussion is counter-productive to the game. so yes, it should probably have a caveat of "unless serious discussion is still being had, as per the ref's discretion".

It really looks to me like kdogg and bacon are working together. Bacon kind of started off with a "that kinda makes sense" (not an actual quote) stance and progressed more and more into fully accepting everything kdogg says. And then Bek..
Bacon was feeding into a lot of what I was saying as well... But it is true that he slowly but surely drifted away from that and began subtly backing Kdogg... In fact, I haven't even noticed it until you brought it up, INDI.
wolfie was on a high seas cruise with his favorite bff forever and ever nodepression. sadly, after cocktails, things went awry....they were forced to jump ship and megalodon ate their life boat.
mafia, PM me your kill. inspector, PM me your guess.

is this really a shock???? i mean, if i'm doing a terrible job at REF it is only because i don't know what you guys are expecting.
i said that i would close voting when i got off the road and that was at 1pm. no one has changed their votes since page 6 and people were complaining about the 36hr rule.
geeze you guys are hard to please! haha

I was not surprised at all. We had been going on forever and there was no reason to believe there would be another vote change. I think your are doing fine EAP. Just be more assertive. Don't take any shit from anyone.
Haha don't worry I am. Remember it is only 6 PM here Im still having dinner with my family and then going out and hanging with my friends. Nothing to crazy but im not really the crazy type.

There is something fishy goin on with Bec and Jen for sure. I get called out for basically not having enough mafia posts/knowledge to be the last vote, things change, I still have the last vote, Jen wasn't happy with it and Bec changes her vote after mine?

yeah, i actually figured something like this would happen. this will sound crazy, but please at least take what i'm going to say into consideration...
we all know that kdogg is prone to long posts. that's his thing. he's usually very good at trying to dissect all possible outcomes in the game, whether it's to his detriment or not. however, what i've noticed in past games is that when kdogg is called out, and has a role other than townsperson, he tends to get more irate in his posts. he is no longer calm and collected, but starts to lash out a bit, which is what i saw happening in the last few pages.
now, let's say kdogg is innocent, and that he really was telling the truth about being just a townsperson. with the amount of speculation going around about his status, he obviously would have been the first person targeted in the next round of open voting, or at least thrown in with whomever else people thought were guilty. knowing this, what good would it have done the actual mafia to get rid of an innocent who could have easily been voted off by the majority, and thus gotten them one day closer to taking over the town?
the only good thing to come out of killing kdogg at this point would be to throw the townspeople completely off course because they were getting too close for comfort too soon.
^definitely Hippie. I have always maintained that if you are mafia and Kdogg is not, killing him is always a good idea. He is way too good at this game to keep around. I am going back through every thing to see all the possibilities of what this could indicate if anything at all.
My initial reaction would be that Wolf really was innocent and the mafia is trying to protect someone by making Wolf look guilty. Who knows though.

i also have a strong feeling wolf may have been innocent. i was hoping that the overnight kill would indicate something, and i think it has. i still believe kdogg was guilty, and him dying actually makes it more apparent to me. not to mention it was fairly certain that the inspector would be asking about kdogg, and with him dead it was a lost attempt for the townspeople.
i think we're looking at two more mafia, and not three.
what good would it have done the actual mafia to get rid of an innocent who could have easily been voted off by the majority, and thus gotten them one day closer to taking over the town?
If Kdogg were truly innocent he would be alive right now. The townies had him all but dead last round, if it weren't for Bek's last minute change of heart, Kdogg would have been dead in Wolf's place.
Kdogg was BY NO MEANS cleared from the spotlight, he would have most definitely been in the running to die by vote this round, SO- if he were innocent, the mafia would have let him live, sat back, and watched the townies SELF DESTRUCT.
Ha, lol Ive been trying to find a good shark related smiley to use, but no luck so far. I'll just have to stick with some fishy sharky references til I do.

Think we did get lucky and vote a mafia off first round? Pretty sure last game the 2 in the runoff 1st round both died the first day/night. I really don't know if that was the case here too, but it does seem likely.
no, i don't think we voted a mafia person off. i think wolf was innocent and kdogg is guilty.
Why would the mafia kill one of their own this early? This makes no sense to me.
um, i'm fairly certain i just explained that part completely in my first post after kdogg's kill...
