I've been seriously considering All Good this year, but getting my buddy to buy tickets takes an act of congress. I think we're going to wait until the Nateva lineup comes out and then make the decision then. I've been waiting for years to go to Marvin's Mountaintop.
Well what we usually do is I work on the day we are leaving. While I'm at work the car gets packed. Then I'm picked up from work in the packed car and we leave.
So if that's the way we are doing it for All Good I will work until 12 and then leave right from work.
If I remember correctly the drive there is 4 1/2 hours. So we will be getting there around 5pm. Hopefully they will have gotten enough of the line in so we aren't waiting forever.
Hey guys! I'm very new to All Good and not 100% sure I'd go, but just trying to educate myself on what it's like, so I've got several questions. Brace yourselves, lol...
1. How long's the line take on Thursday afternoon? 3-6 hours? Is 2pm really the earliest time you can get in line on Thurs? (ie, what time should I shoot for to arrive on Thurs?) And is there a must-go place to do grocery shopping (like the Walmart in Kingwood maybe?) or any hang out places if you're too early?
2. What attractions are there? Is this mainly vendors and music or are there other visuals and activities? any free workshops? I'm assuming yoga. Do people like to/are they allowed to do fire poi?
3. Assuming weather permits, are fireworks guaranteed? Is this done Sunday night?
4. Is there access to the nearby river? I remembered seeing past pictures of people down there, but is it still accessible?
5. Any nearby points of interest people recommend or require on the way to and/or from AG? (Coming from DC area. I've already been to Deep Creek Lake which I'd suggest. They even have a campground you could stay at on the way, if necessary.)
6. How much do you usually end up spending including ticket (minus alcohol - I don't drink)?
7. What are the chances you'd be in car camping with your car directly next to you? It sounds like mainly there'll be a parking area separate from camping due to the terrain, ranging from 100 to 400 yards away.
8. How's theft? a lot? average? little? do we have to lock our coolers like at Roo? then again, if mine doesnt have beer, should i care? lol obviously keeping valuables in the car locked up, out of sight, is good measure regardless where you are.
9. Is music nonstop? or is there a period of time in the wee early morning hours they dont play much? will earplugs be needed to sleep well, or is the sound muted well in the camping area?
and...
10. how many stages are there? (just 1 if there aren't overlapping sets? I cant find a map but from overhead pictures, looks like there's just 1)
phew! thanks in advance! feel free to give an AG newbie any other info you feel would be necessary.
With the answers I get to those questions and the research I do about the lineup (dont know many artists, but the few I recognize I like but theyre probably all late nights or something), hopefully I'll have a stronger idea if I can end up going.

1. 3-6 is accurate I like to be in line by 11:00, the gates open at noon
2. There is plenty of fire dancing and workshops, the visuals are less than Bonnaroo, but the mountain scenery is outstanding
3. Fireworks are Saturday during the end of the headliner
4. Maybe but you would have to walk up and down the mountain which seems like a big hassle.
5. No idea I come from the south
6. Hard to say really, usually just food and party favors. The food is cheaper than Bonnaroo though.
7. You can camp with your car, or at least a very short distance away from it.
8. Other than the wormtown people stealing flags it is low. That being said I would not leave valuables lying around either.
9. The music runs from 10:00am or so until about 3-4. It is not very loud in the campgrounds, but bring earplugs a lot of people show up Thursday and party until Monday.
10. There are two side by side stages you can see either from most viewpoints. Because they are always setting one up while the other is going there is typically a less than 10 minute break between sets. There is also a third smaller stage in the campgrounds.
Hope this helps, the mountaintop is great place. Also feel free to roll with us because one of the best things about AllGood is that it lets people hang out together more than regular festivals. There is no splitting up to go to different shows, because there is only one at any one point.
I think that's my favorite part about All Good. It's just so much more relaxed. I don't have to plan my day. I can hang out at the camp site and just soak it all in. Then wander over for some music.
Yeah, we definitely need to try and get everyone to meet up earlier this year and get moving. 11am would be good. I'll probably leave Wednesday night again but get a hotel this year instead of trying to sleep in the Walmart parking lot (which basically meant i got no sleep and set me up to be tired as fuck all weekend -_- )
I'm all for an earlier start and we will most likely get a hotel room on Wednesday night as well. Jess, where do yall usually stay?
I'm seriously hoping to camp in the same spot as last year. That was such a great set up. I don't mind the baby hill as long as it leads to a flat camp. The one in 08 sucked, we were on a really annoying incline.
In 08 we stayed at the Econo Lodge and in 10 we stayed at the Super 8. I think it is usually more about what hotel has the cheapest room for the night.
Everyone that is gonna be there Wed night could maybe try to get in the same hotel and we could hang out Wed night! I know the two time I have stayed in Morgantown the night before have been:
As of Saturday it looks like I have a group of 4 who are ready to buy tickets to All Good, and it happens to be my 4 favourite people to travel with, very excited! Would a group of newcomers be welcome to join camp infogood? We are all festival vets but new to All Good and it would be great to have an awesome bunch of people to camp with.

Bunny I start putting in ridic low priceline numbers until I get something cheap in Morgantown. In 08 I paid 20, last year was 40ish.

In terms of workshops, they had yoga, hula hoops and super hero costume making last year.
In our area most of the folks headed to the woods and pitched tents in the woods.
Found the food, ice and taxi service to be cheaper than Roo.

ooh ok. i gotta learn to hula hoop, lol. one day, if i get good and stick with it, i might save up to buy one of those cool led hoops that light up. love that!
would it be safe to take my DSLR camera? or just stick with point and shoot? If I lock it up in my trunk when not in use, I'd assume I'd be ok, but...I might get lazy and sleep with it when I'm too tired or leave it in the tent, especially if I'm not camping directly next to my car.
Also, how do they determine who goes where? I'm assuming they do from the closer to the main stages back and you dont have much say where you end up, and if you want to move to a tent only area, you can move as you please after you're asked to park where they tell you?
I guess it's tricky asking how much total...how much total for food? I guess that's the main concern cause extra spending, party favors, alcohol, etc is by choice and varies per person. I dont remember how much I spent for Roo. I tried to be cheap and not get too much, but couldnt buy any of my own food at Walmart or anything cause I was stayin in the Fuse Barn. I guess I'd buy more food than I get there. How's their food selection? I'm not much of a cook, but I have a propane 2 burner stove I can use or let others use.
Yeah. I'd definitely try to meet up with some of you Infogood people...I'm not the best at making friends on my own. I technically went to Roo alone and stayed alone a lot of the time. If the music isn't a huge interest during the day, itd be nice knowin I could go take some scenery pictures and go relax down by the river, if they let you. I'm big on photography and taking workshops to better my knowledge about techniques and how to use my DSLR (got it for christmas!)
Thanks for the help, guys! Feel free to give any other helpful info for newbies.
If you come stay with us you should be able to get away with 50$ in spending money assuming your goal is enough food to stay alive, and that is generous.

Party favors as always are optional.
haha ok. btw, no idea what you were quoting. must've deleted too much or something... but yeah. $50 the whole time? I guess if I split grocery costs with someone and avoid buying too much there, it could be like that. If I buy lunch and dinner there every day, itd be more, right?
as far as party favors go, even if i did buy any, itd be on the low end and probably just at night. I dont need much, but with nursing school and dr*g tests and stuff, I get paranoid if I do anything like that. I was sober all of Roo minus like... 1 hour, lol. unintentionally sober so much, but proves I can do it...it just got lonely and kinda boring though. Not drinking helps the budget too.
I have a friend I know that's going and I might chill with her but would love to have a group of friends to stick with. I could do Infogood and then catch up with her every so often. I'm nervous about not havin enough to do, but I'd probably be ok. Just cant let myself be cooped up alone and quiet. I have a tent and new EZ Up too to share among other things I'm bound to not use and overpack with, lol.
Now, aside from details...is seein if I can do both this AND Roo or maybe just stick with this since it's much much closer and cheaper. Thing is, Roo has more to see. How do people do this every summer? lol it's hard to choose!

Just found out tonight that my friend that I met at my first Bonnaroo and went to my first All Good with is coming to All Good this year!!! I invited her and her small group to join us. You guys will love her! She lives in Charleston, WV. I think a couple of us are going to stay at her house Wednesday night if we decide to not get a room in Morgantown.
Ha! Yes, earlier this year! Just tell Teri and I to be there an hour before you actually want us there

5. Any nearby points of interest people recommend or require on the way to and/or from AG? (Coming from DC area. I've already been to Deep Creek Lake which I'd suggest. They even have a campground you could stay at on the way, if necessary.)
My son and I are going. Bought tickets. First time for us. Google Maps says the Mountaintop is 3.5 hours from us, so we'll leave Thursday morning. We'll take the bulk of our food with us; Gatorade, Yoo Hoo in the cardboard boxes, PB&J supplies. Probably take some hot dogs and roasting forks to cook over those cool steel fire rings.
*After* the festival we might take the leisurely route home, and check out some rivers and waterfalls. Valley Falls State Park in WV looks close and interesting. Say, have you checked out Great Falls National Park, in Fairfax? I used to ride my bike from Vienna to the falls when I was young. Bicyclists were given free entry.

Yeah. I live about 20 minutes from Great Falls. Ive been there many times throughout my life. Was contemplating even going today with the nice weather, but I might wait until it's prettier with leaves on the trees since I'm mainly there for picture taking. Winter makes everything feel so ugly/sad/dead. www.nps.gov/grfa/planyourvisit/feesandreservations.htm Their site says $3 if biking. Not free anymore, but...you could keep track of the free national park days and go then if you're close enough and want to go for free. I might buy their annual pass next time I go. (http://www.nps.gov/findapark/feefreeparks.htm)
I have a tent and new EZ Up too to share among other things I'm bound to not use and overpack with, lol.
I have an EZ up, a banquet table and some furniture to contribute.
My husband allways tells me I overpack.
Yeah. You don't want to see my checklist. Theres no way I can fit 4 people in my car with all the things i take. My table and EZ UP will force me to put part of my back seat down anyway. Add 2 full plastic boxes with a tent, grill, clothes, sleeping gear, cooler, several tarps, etc...gets full, and I never use all of it, lol. I have a hard time letting go of things I *could* need/use. I'll use my EZ Up but willing to share anything I have extra of, including space, if I go.

This is going to be my first All Good trip and i'm stoked!!! my best friend lives in morgantown now so it's perfect. And I totally agree- Beats Antique is amazing and so underrated.
