I got selected to test SWTOR. Never played but I made an account once so I guess I will check that out.
Apparently, everyone who signed up for beta testing before Nov 11 got invited for an upcoming weekend. It's their ultra stress test on their servers. My guess is it will be Thanksgiving weekend since so many people are available.
Dark Souls is the only new game I've played this year. Amazing game... not sure if I like it more than Demon's Souls, but I feel that this is technically a better game. I just liked how dark and claustrophobic Demon's Souls was.
I was with a friend when he got Skyrim on the midnight drop, and watched it for the next 7 hours or so. Stunning looking game, doesn't seem too different than Oblivion, but I'm sure I'll love it once I get my hands on it. The combat is supposed to be slightly improved... which I was hoping for a major improvement, but oh well. It was passable in Oblivion, and just like that game, I'm sure the sheer scope and massive sandbox appeal will carry it to being a favorite. Hopefully, I'll be getting it in a month or so.
I also am intersted in playing Uncharted 3 and the new Zelda game, both of which have been getting near universal praise as among the best games of the year.
Oh, and I'm no expert on FPS games, but Modern Warfare 3 seems about just like the second one. Battlefield seems like a much more varied and maybe even casual experience, whereas MW3 seems like a more "hardcore" game with fucking insane fans.
I've been geeking the crap out playing Star Wars: The Old Republic this weekend. Damn beta tests making me want to buy stuff.
damn forgot about that. got bf 3 for 30 bucks though and definitely worth it. not sure if I will get MW3 or not yet.
I had to make a choice and got Assassins Creed. It's still en route as we speak. When it comes down to it, I just don't have the time to commit to be good at multiplayer in an FPS.

Skyrim is awesome. Lots of structural improvements over Morrowind and Oblivion, it's easier to not get lost, and the storylines are more coherent. Batman: Arkham City is the titties! It didn't take me long to get most of the way through the main storyline though, I think it'd be cooler if there were a bigger map and more involved sidequests, but I guess Bethesda has spoiled me for that.

I tried Oblivion because it was really cheap on a sale on Steam. I got frustrated pretty quickly because I went to explore and just got lost as hell because there's a whole bunch of space on that map.
I have heard that Arkham City is pretty fantastic. I've heard the fighting system is like Assassin's Creed but much more fluid. Also, it's Batman. Batman is awesome.
I'm so pissed. I got the new Zelda game for x-mas but i can't play it because i need some kind of Wii Motion Plus accessory. Gamestop and Target were all sold out and only had the MotionPlus Wiimote which was like $50. Nintendo is all like "nah man you can't play yet you gotta spend money and buy more shit". I'm not going to drop that kind of money when i am 99.9% sure this is the last game I am going to play on the wii. Lame as balls.

Yep. Arkham City is awesome. When I first got my paws on Skyrim, I'd switch over to the map to see where I needed to go and kept thinking "crap! that's gonna take forever!" because I was used to thinking in Morrowind/Oblivion map terms. Then it would take maybe 1/4 of the time that I thought it would. Also, you can map travel to places you've already discovered without having to find one of those giant giraffe fleas. One of many, but like I mentioned before, LOTS of structural improvements over Elder Scrolls III and IV. Plus, you get to stab dragons in their eyeballs.

Yeah, I would be buying that game sooner, if not for that Motion Plus added accessory. I remember when I got my Wii a few years back, I couldn't believe how much other shit they made you buy for that thing... then they go and do more. They give you the little joystick part, you have to get the nunchuck or whatever if you want to play just about any game for it, then, if you end up downloading a game that's not Wii designed or for an ancient platform, you have to go out and get ANOTHER controller to play it. Jeeze.
Anyway, I think I'll be going out and getting a new PS3 remote (been working with a glitched out controller for the last year) and Skyrim. I don't have the capability of running Skyrim on any of my computers, so does anyone have any first hand knowledge or educated comparisons on the 360 version over the PS3 version? I'd prefer to run it off of my Playstation, but have no problem doing it on 360 if it's worth it.

I was looking at Skyrim on PS3. A bunch of reviews on Amazon are not friendly to the game on PS3. Lots of complaints about loading times, glitches and such. I don't know if 360 is any better or if these things have been fixed on PS3, but you might want to check it out.
The Elder Scrolls Games in general i feel are notorious for loading times and glitches. From what I've read the 360 version is a little more tolerable, but i've had my fair share of freezes during loading screens.
Thanks for the feedback... I was out and grabbed it for PS3, came home and looked on here before I opened it, so I read all this and did some research. I'm about to walk out the door and swap it for the 360 version!
I tried doing what I did in Oblivion with Skyrim... just running off and doing my own shit as soon as the game opened up. Noooot such a great idea, here, lol.

Ok, I am starting to get a little frustrated with NCAA Football 12 locking up.
Also, I am looking at finally getting Dragon Age Origins for PS3 as my next video game purchase. Anybody have thoughts on it? Is there a significant difference between the PC and PS3 version?
Since I can't get Mass Effect 3 yet, I've been playing a new character in 2 the last few days... this is still one of my favorite games of all time and cannot wait to get my mitts on ME3.
A little late to the convo, but I am completely addicted to the Assassins Creed saga. The Uncharteds, Far Crys, and God of.War games are also all badass. Also, I can sit and play Ncaa Football for hours on end.
I saw an article about GTA 5 the other day, so I went back and booted up GTA 4 again. I forgot how many hours I could kill helichopping people in central park
