I loved the GTA games on PS2... and GTA IV was a great piece of work, no doubt, but I just could not get past the driving mechanics. Any mission that involved more or less racing in a car, I was horrible at, and those are like half the missions in the game... I loved the simplified grandiosity of San Andreas, and IV was very well polished, but I had more fun playing San Andreas, definitely.
It was tough at first. The mechanics are completely different. (as I just remembered after.downloading gta3 san andreas on xbox live). Once I got the new mechanics down, races were no problem. I do miss the gas cap blow up though. Gta5 is set back in san andreas though. Can't wait to get jets back! That was the biggest miss for me in 4.
Not yet but I will when I get the money. All the reviews I have read have been positive aside from bugs that will hopefully get fixed when they put out a patch or two.

I've been playing Guild Wars 2 since it came out and love it. Also, have you guys read or heard about Defiance? It's a TV show and video game, where you can change the events in the TV show by doing things in game......It looks very Mad Maxish.

Its great. I'm still early in the game, but so far I have no complaints.

My ps3 has been nothing but a netflix box since I purchased a 3DS last year. I also have a DSiXL w/ R4 chip and that is the greatest thing ever because you can run emulators on it (NES, SNES, GB, GBA, etc). Recently finished New Super Mario Bros 2 for 3DS and the Final Fantasy 3 remake for DS. I just started Final Fantasy 4 remake for DS. My favorite games for the 3DS made so far were Super Mario 3D Land, Resident Evil Revelations, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and Mario Kart 7. I think my wife just finished the master quest on Ocarina of Time 3D and is now playing the Minish Cap.
We have the Wii-U pre-ordered (the black one that comes with nintendoland) along with Super Mario Bros U and ZombiU. I get to pick that up on sunday.
Finally got around to getting started in Mass Effect 3... loving it so far. Still using the same character I had for the first two, and the way that my actions in those games are cross referenced and incorporated into the story narrative here is just brilliant.
After playing Skyrim for a period of time, it's nice to get back into a game that actually has a story I can get behind.
If I were to get a console and not have it connected to the internet is there any point? It seems like maybe with a PS3.
The internet connection is nice for some game as the PS3 downloads patches that fix whatever bugs the company let the game get released with. For the most part though, it is just bells and whistles that you get with the internet unless of course you are talking about FPS games where multiplayer is an increasing percentage of the gameplay anymore.
Yeah, I hardly ever connect my 360 to the net and it's the only gaming system I use anymore... I just had my PS3 connected to the net constantly for a long time for the browser and HD Youtube, etc. . PS3 seems to have less in the way of online updates and patches than 360 (double edged sword, kind of), but 360 is seemingly always putting up new updates and patches.
There is a chance you could get a game that has some bugs that they patched up with a downloadable update, and that would really be the only thing I think that may be problematic.
But if you're trying to decide between 360 or PS3, and especially considering you won't be playing online... definitely PS3. It's a beast of a machine; a hell of a capable media storage device, good Blu Ray player, obviously more storage space by a ton, you can't even put anything other than MP3s on a 360 hard drive, with PS3 you can put AVI/MPG/MP4 video files and WAV/WMA/MP3 audio files on the system to store it. I was very disappointed to learn I couldn't store my own videos on the 360 when I got mine, and the only way to store music is to rip it from an actual audio cd... so archaic.
One thing I will say... they both have great game libraries. PS3 has the better exclusives (if I was more into shooters, I'd say 360 probably, honestly), but for games that are mutual to both systems... the 360 version 9 times out of 10 ends up running better. So, for all of those 3rd party games that are on both systems, I usually get it for 360.

I usually only play first person shooters and sports games, with the occasional "....okay, I have to try this game" purchase. And since I play almost everything online with my friends that are spread out across the country, that also factors into my Xbox preference.
Is Assassin's Creed considered a shooter? No, right?
No, but neither is it a 360 exclusive if that's what you're getting at.
No, that's not what I was getting at at all. Just wondering what that game is classified as and that means it's my first non-shooter/non-sports game purchase in a looooong time.
