Yeah, I'm not counting an Ipad that some housewife uses to play Bejeweled for 6 hours a day in this discussion.
Not that there is anything wrong with this, I just don't think that counts as a "console game," for the intents and purposes of this idiotic discussion.
I miss nba jam and nfl blitz. Madden and 2k games just play too slow for me. Fifa games will always kick ass.
I only liked this for the NBA Jam reference. I never liked Blitz and I think 2k games gameplay speed is realistic and smooth. Madden's gameplay is slow, I'll give you that.
I have a whole long spiel I go into regarding Zelda and Radiohead and how their history is weirdly connected:
The Legend of Zelda = Pablo Honey Link To The Past = The Bends Ocarina of Time = OK Computer Majora's Mask = Kid A Windwaker = Hail To The Thief Twilight Princess = In Rainbows Skyward Sword = King of Limbs
I think LoZ/PH each launched their careers in a way that was super different than what became the final product. LTTP/The Bends are still to this day weird purists' favorite of the series, even though they were later far surpassed in my own opinion. OoT/OKC are the undisputed masterpieces that always come up in conversation for GOAT in their respective fields. MM/Kid A are both something of departures, while operating in the same realm as the previous one. They're also both much darker. Windwaker/Hail To The Thief are real departure that everyone initially hated because its so much different, but now a decade later has withstood the test of time. Both of them are also sorta weird playing out (WW because it was rushed, HTTT cause there are 47 songs). Twilight Princess & In Rainbows are both the culmination of the last three efforts, along with a notable return to form of the prime. Skyward Sword/KoL strike me personally as being both overrated and underrated at the same time. As a Radiohead album/Zelda game its overrated, but as a worthy piece of media in general its way better than people give it credit for, if that makes sense.
Also worth noting, your favorite Radiohead album usually lines up with your favorite Zelda using this comparison. Probably not gonna keep the 100% figures I had going before now that it's gonna be seen by more than like 6 people, but I bet its still valid for the most part.
Except this is wrong because The Bends obviously isn't the best Radiohead album...

I spent a large chunk of weekends in high school playing blitz and drinking beers with my friends so it's got a nostalgia factor for me. I just prefer faster paced over the top games. I haven't played a 2k game in a few years so it might be better. Outside of fifa I rarely play any sports games.
I think I remember having to start a new game file because I screwed the Water Temple up so royally (or at least I thought I did.)
You didn't.
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is really the only one in the series that made me yell at the tv constantly. I challenge any of you fuckers to go back and attempt to beat that sumbitch. Best of luck at the great palace.
I went back and replayed ALL of them before Skyward Sword came out.
Zelda 2 is in fact oppressively difficult. Never was able to finish it... I don't think I ever had a harder time with an NES game (that I actually liked) than with Castlevania 3. That is one tough sob.

GD Zelda 2 was hard. I tried replaying it a couple of years ago and I was no better at it now. I foolishly thought my more developed decision making, learning and hand eye coordination would be enough to make a difference. Fool.
Well he's even more of a boss in my eyes now for making such amazing games without even trying.
He made the good games 20-30 years ago (with Takashi Tezuka). Post 2000 everything is just a remake of well selling ideas of his. He hasn't brought anything new and good to the table since n64 days and arguably before then.
All that said, he'll never be topped by anyone else with the sheer number of amazing game franchises he's made.

Not trolling. Look at that list. Metroid has been garbage since snes. So have the donkey kong games and let's not even start with the crap those Luigi Mansion games are. Then the terrible Mario sports games and Yoshi Island. Mario Kart is so simple you can't really break the game with minor changes. Mario galaxy is ok but Zelda is the only saving grace for Nintendo right now.
Yeah, Mass Effect 3 is incredible... the combat is far and away better than in the last games and the it's a bit more challenging, as well. Loving this game... only game I've played that came out in 2012, actually.
Although a game designer, Miyamoto spends little time playing video games, preferring to play the guitar, mandolin and banjo.
Miyamoto also has stated that he has a hobby of guessing the measurements of objects, then checking to see if he was correct, and apparently carries a tape measure with him everywhere
Traded in a couple of old games yesterday for the Ico and Shadow Of The Colossus Collection for PS3. I used to have Ico in the day and thought it was incredible for the time, never got around to Shadow Of The Colossus. Pretty excited to finally give that one a shot.
itrainmonkeys, Which video card did you get? Is the video card not being recognized after you stalled the drivers for it? Is it an older computer? Are you sure the card is compatible with your motherboard? Does your power supply have enough juice to power the card?

It's been a long process. I'm completely new to computer hardware replacements and stuff. I had gotten advice online on a few forums about the power supply and video card to get that would help a lot of the games run better. I gave my specs and model numbers and stuff and people helped me out.
I've been able to install the power supply and that works fine with the old card or on-board DVI connection. When I put in the new card I get no signal to the monitor at all. I was told that I could install the drivers for the new card after, and I believe that's what the instructions say as well. The power is going to it because the fan on the card spins when the machine is powered on. The computer is fairly new and in solid condition (lots of space and ram and stuff).
So now I'm just trying different things to get a signal from the card. I'm going to have a co-worker take the card home tomorrow and test it out in his machine that has a good power supply. If he gets it to work then we know it's something on my end. If he can't get it to work then maybe the card is just busted and I need to exchange it. Any help/suggestions is appreciated. I'm clueless.

This is really the best start for troubleshooting. 90% sure you have a bad card.
