Elden Ring is definitely riding the line of "I'll play it to see if the hype is real" and "never playing it because I know it won't."
Both of these lists are wild, ngl. Pretty standard picks and then you have Disco Elysium, two versions of the same game and a DLC pack coming in off the top rope.
But what do I know, I'd put Team Fortress 2 in my top 10.
I feel really bad for not having played most of those games.

I have not played most of these but I don’t care. A list without Fallout: New Vegas isn’t much of a list.
I’ve got Disco Elysiumbut I’m waiting to be home for awhile to start it
I just played through Ocarina of Time (for like the 8th time) on the n64 switch expansion a few weeks ago. I would totally support any argument that it's the greatest game of all time. Majora's Mask is coming out the same day as Elden Ring. Only played that one once but loved it, can't wait to mainline some more n64 nostalgia.
Elden Ring has exceeded my expectations. It actually reminds me more of Skyrim but with these beautiful Dark Souls landscapes and bosses (especially when you get past the first area). I love it!

I’m playing as a Wretch because I’m an idiot who loves to suffer

not to sound like a hipster but Majoras Mask is my favorite in the entire series. so much charm and emotion
For Souls fans, would Elden Ring be a good first game? Have enough games to play as is, but always wanted to get into the Souls series.
I think it would be a great first game into the series. 👍
I am still getting used to the multiplayer system of this one. You have to craft an item to be able to summon someone, but luckily once you get a few hours into the game, the plant you need it pretty easy to find.
You can also toggle from online to offline pretty easily if you just want to start the game solo for awhile without helping others or receiving help… or getting invaded.

Seems like all the unique mechanics of a the fist Souls game are here. Just under different names. Elden Ring has the advantage of modern graphics. So yeah, I don’t see a reason not to start here. The mythology of the world is kept mysterious anyway so you don’t need any backstory really.
Just be patient. It’s a rewarding game but it certainly can be frustrating starting out. Just always be mindful of your stats and “ruins”. Don’t be going off in dangerous areas past your level unless you’ve already spent them or used them to level up. It can be really easy to lose a lot of work if you aren’t careful.
Which kinda is what makes the game unique. You feel there are consequences to dying. Haha . and die you will. A lot.
Just got Elden Ring. Probably fire it up today. Never played a souls game but love Skyrim. I know it’s going to frustrate me to high heavens but too much hype not to check this out. I’m thinking a magic character but looks like there’s hella choices so that’s cool.
I’m level 60. Only just beat Godric. What a fucking brutal opening castle. My God it took forever but was awesome.
I’m doing an even build with a Wretch. Dual-wielding a staff and a halberd.
I am level 57. I beat Godrick and just finished beating Ren(?). I love this game so much. I am a mix of a samurai and mage. I can’t think of my weapon’s name at the moment will I love it. It’s like a medium sized samurai sword and I added some bleed to it.

i think im around level 50. Had so much trouble with Margit but once i discovered how to use my summon ashes i cheesed him very easily and beat Godrick on my 2nd try. Im having so much fun with this game
edit: also started out as a prisoner so im doing a dex/int build. Sorcery is so fucking good in this

So here’s my run down 60 some hours in, level 75. Went with astrologer build because magic is always easier. Never played a souls game. I’ve pretty much just grinded away at all the sub bosses and things in each area. I love the map and the vastness of it. Exploration is always rewarded and it makes this game highly addictive even when it’s frustrating. So far I’ve beaten the first 4, Magrit, Godrick, this damn Red Wolf and Renalla. Since then I’ve been in the Caelid (south). Found a map online with order or locations to visit that’s been super helpful to keep an order on the game. I still don’t know half of what I’m doing with items I pick up but it’s still so much fun. I tried Demon Souls 3 remake when it came out at launch and it never clicked. I think the open world and the jump attack really help with the difficulty of the open world.
Sick game. If you don’t have think about it you love open world games and a challenge
