I was interested enough to consider getting an xbox to play it. Went to gamestop and asked if they had any and basically got laughed out of the store, as expected.

The lack of a pause function in this game is a real fuck you to gamers who also happen to be parents.
or just anyone that can’t remember the 1000 things to do with the controller.
In dark souls there were several times I’d get up and hit what would normally be the pause button then walk off. Come back and I’m dead from a rat or whatever

I beat the game today. Wow what an awesome game. Really blown away. Probably top 5 games I’ve played. Last two games I played have been. I loved Retunal but I enjoy games like that. Never played a from software game before, tried to play Demon Souls remake but couldn’t get into it. Now I have a hole in my life. If anyone is on the fence get it, well if you like open world games.

I am SO BAD at Elden Ring. I’m still getting my ass kicked by some basic-ass guards in the ruins outside the gate in the opening area.
I’ve learned that sometimes you have to use your horse and plow past them… then, later on once you have leveled up, you can return and breeze through them.
Other times, I stopped and leveled up until I could manage an area…. Or went to a different area and came back.
Just defeated Elden Ring. That last boss is a tough one.
For me the hardest bosses were Melania (insane) and Fire Giant.
This game has some extraordinary scenes in it. Truly one of the best games I’ve ever played after many decades of video games.
Fire Giant was wild. Elden Beast was stuuuuupid tough for me. I never even came close with Malania , thank the Elden Lord she was optional
I didn’t realize until yesterday that if you follow the jar (Alexander?)’s storyline, he can help with Fire Giant.
Yeah, Malenia was crazy. Almost absurd. I had to really build up my endurance for her because when she takes a lot of health, she gains it back herself. You almost have to play a perfect battle with her. Especially, the second phase. It’s a beautiful fight, though. Those colors were great!

Oh I know after trying for an hour or so I watched a video tried some more still barely got to 1/3rd down on her health bar before dying each time. For my first souls game I’m fine with just leaving her alive.
Beat Demon Souls now and now I’m at a loss of what to do.
Should I play a Dark Souls game , Bloodborne or do a new game plus with Elden ? I’ve never really been one for replaying a game but I can see maybe making a different build.

Dark Souls 3 is fantastic, if you haven’t played it. DS1, too.

Word Bloodborne has scared me off so far based off of reviews saying it’s the hardest of the soul games. But it’s like 9.99 on PSN right now so I’ll just prob grab that. All the Dark Souls games are full priced on PSN and I don’t want to wait for Amazon to ship me a physical copy lol says it’d be 9 days. My game hole needs filling sooner than that. I’ll report back once I get going in Bloodborne. I’ll play the Dark Souls games after Bloodborne.

The DLC is also great for Bloodborne. I forgot to mention that….
It’s about the same level as Elden Ring with respect to being hard. The main advantage Elden Ring has over others in the series is that the older DS games have weapon degradation. I HATE having to repair weapons. 🤣

Oh I know ! In demon souls my sword needed repair a few times but I usually run magic. I think for Dark Souls whenever I play I’ll run mele finally.

I’m just now finding out that weird lady that hugs you at the stronghold puts a curse on you and I never got rid of that object she gave me. I’m level 220. Lmao. Probably lost several fights because of that. Jebus. I’ll never trust anyone calling themselves a deathbed companion again.

I am trying to remember how to fix this curse… I think if you use the item she gives you, your health returns and maybe you lose something else?

I got to the fire giant and got wrecked for about an hour.
Put the game down and havent touched it for a month now.
Try to do the pot storyline… I think his name is Alexander? He is supposedly a decent help with the Fire Giant. He and his friend have a good storyline, too. It’s two separate storylines.

I think you just have to use the object? It seemed so useless I never did anything with it and then forgot about it.
