Has anyone worked the toll booths, what do they look for to put you in the random search line?? I know this may sound like a dumb reason for the question5 but i personally noticed that they didnt have anyone in the random search line that had anything on their roof rack..... i know im going to get alot of shit so let me just cover myself.... i am aware that the word "random" means random but as humans when the choice of "random" is presented we tend to go with educated guesses or start stereotyping soo that being said let me ask once more, does anyone know what to avoid being randomly searched????? (i.e. dont write Bonnaroo with a window marker on your windshield along side a drawing of a pot leaf) obviously you should do something like that but thats just my example haha thanks
just don't be obvious is all i can say. if you go into centeroo with parafernailia (i'm a bad speller) then hide it under tor cloths, underwear waist bands and in your underwear even, alot of people hid things in hats but they acctually started checking hats. and same thing when you get your car/rv search hide it in your undies! they don't check that! and you honestly can't do anything to not get randomly searched.

No joke, in 09 the guy asked me to lift up my shirt to see my waste. Then he shone a flashlight down to see the smallest hint of a baggie draped around my boxer's waist band under my shorts. He snatched it right up.

I think the OPs question is regarding entrance into the site through the toll booths. I have never worked the toll booths and I've never been pulled into the random extra search line. I don't know if there is anything you could do to avoid the line, but being inconspicous and not having your car plastered with roo stuff is a good idea. I talked to people in 09 who drive a VW bus in and they said in 08 they got put in the random additional search line, but had no problem in 09.
I may be mistaken, but i think they do additional search for every so many vehicles they let in. When i drive up i just stay as far away from that line as i can
Yeah, my question was about getting onto the farm, 2010 was my first year and i was the "driver" for the wait in line and the toll booths, being that it was my first roo i wanted to get a decent spot on the farm so as we got closer i started hearing from other people waiting in line that the random search line "takes and hour" and "you could get asked to leave the festival ground before you even enter" (if caught with the no-no's) but i was more concerned cuz i wanted a better spot on the farm and not have to wait any longer than we allready did, apparently this is a common question in the waiting line thow, everyones answer seemed to be "If you made it into the line for bonnaroo and made it through every state w/o being caught then you dont have to worry until you leave monday to go home"
I do not mess with anything illegal, let me just make that 10,000% clear, i really only asked the question because i wanted to know how to avoid waiting another hour in line for a "random" search to be conducted, i just wanna be closer then king jaffe joller next year cuz i have a herniated disc and two torn annulars so the walk is very stressful for me, i just wanna at least be on the roo side of bushy branch, idk i guess aside from just trying to not be noticeable to stray from being searched the only way i can get a closer spot is to leave Detroit at like 2:00 or 3:00pm wednesday afternoon

Maybe you could do access camping. Im not sure how that works however. If youre really worried about camping close then you could always do tent only.
Where you camp may also depend on the entrance you use. The past 2 years I've taken Asbury Road to get into the site and each time I've been camped in BFE by the church tent that gives out free stuff. It's a fairly quick entry (about and hour), but you get camped far away.
well coming from detroit this year the detour took us to the Stuckeys gas station exit miles south of the farm and that took us in the back way (by the chuch and jafee joller), how would one go about getting into the north bound side where the freeway entrance to the farm is?? i wanted to do it this year but all of the exits are closed and it seems if you come from the north going southbound you are forced to come in the back way..... i think im just going to have to get my handicapped tag for my rearview and hopefully the roo crew will be kind enough to atleast get me on the roo side of bushy branch, and i totally would do tent only but that requires carrying my stuff and i can't lift over 10 pounds due to my herniated disc, that and i coming with a group of 5 people in my car so i want to camp with them the whole time and i know the women will want the car nearby for w.e. random reasons and i am fine with that, i just hope the staff is kind enough to get me closer then the absolute farthest camp away from center-roo(like i said anything on the roo side of bushy branch would be ideal)

I got the random DTF search this past year.
I don't think we were singled out for any reason, we were in an inconspicuous, white chavy blazer, with luggage on the rack and everything. They had just finished a car and we were the next to come by so they waved us in. Needless to say they tried hard to be intimidating and accusing. They said if we gave up a little bit they would write us a ticket and let us in, but if they searched and found something we would be going to jail and not Bonnaroo.
They got everyone out of the car and while 4 guys went through the passenger area of the car another guy frisked all of us. And yes they frisk pretty good. They know I am a man. Checked wallets, and some of our shoes. They didn't go through anything in the very back. I'm guessing if they don't find anything in the passenger area or on you. or smell anything, they don't go any further, but I can't say for sure. After that they let us go and you don't get searched again by the Roo people, the DTF writing on your windshield is good enough.
And it didn't take an hour, probably 15 mins tops, and that was because they decided to search the people behind us because we were caravaning, so we waited for them.
I did see them tearing through another car, pulling everything out of bags and so forth, but I'm guessing they found something in the front or the guys gave something up beforehand, not knowing how the police operate. And it seemed like they were handling 3 or so cars at a time, so I think its just luck of the draw when there are a lot of people coming in at once. This was around 9 am, I think.

just don't worry about it. they search everybody and it doens't take as long as you've probably read.

Getting there earlier won't get you closer, in fact if you get their Wednesday night you will be really far away. After that its pretty random.
If you can get a handicapped pass, then you can camp in Access camping which is really close to centeroo, but only your vehicle will be aloud, not everyone in your caravan.
Right on, i have to say i dont mind forking over the 5 dollars plus a tip for the golf cart ride if i do end up far away and i can't hack the walk anymore, thanks everyone, this is one of the few threads i got good info out of and people were not being total d-bags for w.e. reason

we dont even bring in alcohol, however, i wouldnt want to be searched. ive heard stories of them unpacking your stuff so that you have trouble getting it packed back in. i dont want to deal with that TBO. if it happened id be fine with it but....id like to avoid it too. i think obviously you want to avoid making yourself a target. be clear and normal in the line.
one good thing about being an older roo goer - they really dont even look at your stuff.
hey stuckeys is so amazing mannnnn wouldnt it be cool to have a stuckeys at roo
skittles rock too. maybe you should put your skittles up your butt next time hahahahah after all it is a rainbow
^^^I think you've got a good theory about being an older roo goer because we never get more than a cursory look. Of course it may be the fact that we're driving a quacking mini van.
Slightly OT, but when we pull up to the initial screening at entry I look the guy/girl right in the eyes as I'm handing them our tickets and say, "Look, we don't have anything we're not supposed to," in my best no-scheiss, help-me-help-you voice. Invariably they look at the back of my pickup, see the pile of gear back there, look me in the face again, and wave us on.

Alright from what iv read in about a million threads its basically hit or miss on a detailed search, though from my past I DO know them people def judge, I mean crap thats basically what they get paid to do.. I don't drink but people with me will prob bring some. And as far as anything else goes I got fam at home that need me so I'm not about to attempt anything stupid, plus from what I hear with what's in there u can prob find whatever u need inside, but I got a camping q?, iv read someone saying something about u can park and walking to camping or park then camp by ur car, does the tic price camping include the camp by ur car one cause that's what I was hoping to do, if not how much extra is it to do that?

the general admission ticket price includes camping by your car.
if that's not for you, you can park your car and haul your gear to tent only.
tent only = no cars in the area. the tent only spot is killer too (right outside of the arch enterance).

While not being obvious (as far as painting "BONNAROO OR BUST" all over your car and stuff) is certainly good practice, I think most of the times when people tell you that it's because it makes you a huge target for getting pulled over on the way there.
Of course it's entirely possible that it would make you more of a target for the searches at the gates too, but I think in large part the searches really are as random as possible - one car for every x cars, y'know? Something like that. Of course, however they choose cars, if you and your car look extra-sketchy you might get a more intensive search, but I don't know if there's much of anything you can do to avoid the extra search in the first place.

I'm going to be a total asshole here and ask you please post in English. I, for one, would be much more likely to answer your questions if reading them didn't give me a fucking headache.
Me and my friend drove up in a Vw bus and looks nasty as anything since we had just come from wakarusa. I think they wanted to check us more thoroughly but after looking into where two 18 year ok'd guys had just lived for a week they just opened a drawer where the food was. I also told him we used up all the good stuff at waka which made him laugh. Didn't take long at all and got a good spot.

Ok not sure how I dint post in English but everyone else seemed to be fine with it, if ur talking about my abbreviations(which is all I can think u mean) I use my phone so its just force of habit, but other wise I'm alittle lost on what u mean, but with that said my apologies bunny.
There was nothing wrong with your statement *firsttime* i could read it perfectly fine and im headache free, bunny seems to be a middle aged conservative republican who can stand the fact that people don't all speak the same, its naive to point the flaws in that post, and honestly was the word fam substituted for the word family what did you in bunny? grow up.

If I wasn't so awesome I would say that you *seem* to be an entitled, affluent, ageist college kid who doesn't know his jam from his rock and roll. Pick your fights carefully child. This is Inforoo, you really should pay attention.
Well you just proved yourself to be a naive idiot, I'm not a college kid and I'm fluent on several instrument with classical jazz and swing training, I've been in bands, I've played shows and I sure as heck know differences in music probably more so then you could even comprehend (not even trying to be cocky about it but I must point this out to make you realize how naive you're acting) second off, what ground does that illustraion you posted hold?? I wasn't saying you were "wrong" I'm saying your being a douche bag for saying that the word "fam" gives you a headache because you somehow can't understand that it is a short way to spell out family. Maybe you're the one who needs to pay attention and accept that people of this generation have slang, especially on the Internet, if you don't want to get your ridiculous "headaches" then stop looking at the Internet dumb @ss
