Getting super excited/nervous for the Wisconsin game tonight. They've been a better team the Butler all season but that doesn't necessarily mean anything tonight. Today definitely has the better slate of games though, at least 3 of the 4 should be close and all 4 will be very entertaining, unless you have a hard-on for fast pace games in which case you hate watching Wisconsin play.
Yeah he did but the team just did not show. I really thought byu would put a better team effort. Like the final play of regulation, byu should have never even Florida a second chance. What was up with the rebound? It's like the cougars refused to hustle. Oh well, Jimmer will make the nba and make some serious bank.

BYU really shouldn't have gotten this far after losing Davies. They got lucky playing the teams they played. UF is ok, but they aren't all that great, and they're the first good team BYU played in the tourney.
UConn will lose by 20 to Duke or Arizona if they play like they did tonight.
A little pessimistic, but the turnover margin was hard to ignore. Uconn did do a good job of taking advantage of Leonard's foul trouble and build a nice point cushion.
Yeah your right. It just seemed a lot when the second half started. They were letting san Diego stay in it when they kept missing 3s. But when Leonard got his 4th foul, thats when you noticed Uconn setting the pace and the control for the rest of the game. That and kemba put on another great show

Yeah, Kemba had a great game, but even so I thought he looked better in the first half -- shooting was the main thing he did well in the second half, and I think it looked like he scored more in the second. But he seemed to be playing at a higher level overall in the first half. I dunno, maybe the stats say otherwise, but that's what it looked like to me.
The rest of UConn's team was on and off the entire game. The first half it looked like SD ST's defense was the reason UConn was up and down, but in the second, it just looked like UConn was playing inconsistently on both sides.

Jesus Christ what an embarrassment for Wisconsin. It's one thing to be cold offensively, but they've been outhustled on every single loose ball. Terrible.

You mean, by shooting 47% percent from the floor, 50% from 3pt, and 75% from the free throw line? The one place where SDSU should have had a major advantage was in the front court...and yet they only snagged two more rebounds than UConn. The teams were tied in turnovers, and that was with Kemba having a very uncharacteristic 4...kid doesn't really turn the ball over, one of the reasons pro scouts like him.
No, I was thinking more about shaky uncontested passing that will become turnovers against more aggressive teams than SD ST, failure to create turnovers on the defensive side, having only two guys who looked like they knew what they were doing on the offensive side (great games by Kemba and Lamb, btw), and losing the rebounding battle against a team that's the same size (smaller if you count the guys on each team who played 5-10 minutes). Yeah, a couple of SD ST guys average better rebounding than the bigger UConn players, but they got those boards against a far weaker schedule than UConn's.
Good win though. Advancing is what matters, and I think superior coaching gets them ready for the Wildcats and helps them advance to the Final Four.

As a Kentucky fan i have to say I can't believe we beat OSU. We had enough length and athleticism to frustrate them. While people don't give Cal much credit as anything but a recruiter you have to admit he gets his players to play D. I think Butler and Uconn win the games tomorrow. I was in Maui to see Uconn and KY play in person and they are the best team (besides OSU maybe) that we have played in the last 2 seasons. I just think Butler is a better team than Florida. I was at the UK UF game in Lex and at the SEC title game. UF just is not that good of a team. Go on and put KU in the National title game. UK Vs. UNC will be a bloodbath on sunday. I think it has the potential to be a better game than the UK OSU game we just watched. UNC probably has a slight edge due to having an easy game tonight.
Edit: Im calling a Final Four of Uconn, Butler, and KU. Not sure who to choose for the UK UNC game its gonna be killer.

Also, you have got to give it up for Josh Harrellson. That guy played 88 minutes in 38 games as a junior last year. Getting 17 and 10 against the best big man in the country was the key to the game.
Maybe i shouldnt be so quick to pick Uconn. Arizona's performance in the 2nd half against Duke may have been the best thing i have seen in a few years.

Juggs you have to admit that the technical called against SDSU may have been the weakest shit ever. That flop was Duke worthy and turned the game around. Honestly i'm still trying to wrap my head around the Tech from the first half of that game. I'm not saying it cost SDSU the game, because i think Uconn was the better team, but you have no room to discuss officiating in that game.

a) their crowd showed up and gave them a boost (seriously, what is it with California fans NOT showing up to games on time? That arena was half-empty in the first)
^^^ Oriakhi was definitely a presence down low. His blocks and size helped shutdown the paint. At the same time though, Howard and Smith on Butler's end just couldn't sink a freaking layup. Even when they had a clear beat, the execution was just not there. Pretty much the entire offense of Butler throughout the game was 3s. I couldn't believe Butler was leading in the first half but then again in the first half, Uconn i think made 2-3 field goals in ten minutes. With the exception of a few threes, there was no memorable shots in the first. Uconn did pick it up in the second, but that's not much of a consolidation. Walker and Lamb still were weak shotwise, Walker still managed to get 16 only by the sheer amount of shots he took. The only consistent playmaker on both sides of the ball was Oriakhi. As someone who was not a fan of both teams and just wanted to see a good game, I felt Uconn won not by being a great team that night but because Butler was just awful. It was a letdown championship game to a great tournament. I still congratulate Uconn for all the tough games they won in the Big East tournament and in the NCAA tournament.
