I found tipping to be a key at last year's Bonnaroo. When we arrived Thursday morning, they wanted to park our RV quite a distance away. My traveling party put money together and gave the people assigning spots $20 each (2 people). Next thing you know, they moved us much closer than they originally wanted.
I also tipped security to get into the pit for both the Jay-Z set and the Dead Weather set. $10 for Dead Weather, $20 for Jay-Z. While other saps waited over on the side behind the gates to get it, I just walked right in.
It also helped to overtip people serving beer so they remember you when you come back and there's a long line. They'll find a way to take care of you.
Does anyone else feel tipping is a key item to enhance your Bonnaroo experience?

No, I got in the pit for Dead Weather, Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z without having to pay anything. You probably didn't have to wait as long as me, but still it was free.

You seem to be confused about the difference between tips and bribery.
Tipping the vendors = good.
Paying people to break the rules for you because you've decided you deserve special treatment = you're an ass. Definitely not something I would be bragging about on the boards...

What I was thinking the whole time I read this thread. If I was waiting in line to get a great spot for a show and some dude just showed up, dropped some money to the bouncer and got in before me I'd be way pissed. That's really not the roo spirit.

I have to draw the line somewhere, pepper. Tipping wooks is good clean fun, but tipping vendors is definitely not cool. Those people are working hard out there. I even give them a little extra money to show my appreciation.

So good dude. There is a place out here called Calz Pizza that has pretty damned good gyros, but they're still not as good. Maybe location has something to do with that...

I was gonna say!
By the way, here's a thread about whether/where it's appropriate to tip at Bonnaroo from last Spring:

The police found my stash last year so I gave them a $100 tip and they were very gracious and they gave me everything back and told me to have a nice day. I love tipping, it's my favorite!
People can try all they want, I seriously doubt it will help much. Security knows that if they get caught a. they will be fired b. it could lead to a lot of people crashing the pit if they see others getting in after they stood in line all day. Personally I would be irritated if I saw it go down, but a quick video taping with my phone and showing a boss security person should clear it up real quick.

So what you're saying is, I should walk around Bonnaroo with my cell-phone out, taping illegal activity and then playing it for the authorities? For someone who plays the role of the faux-hippie you're quite the narc.
In my opinion, he was not referring to illegal activity, but paying to get into the pit.
