and people forgot that this board doesnt represent Bonnaroos entire population of attendees, at all. most of my friends who have been to more times than I and pay no attention to this place and are completely unaware of the rumors and speculation that goes on here until i tell them.
Big Boi and Cee Loo are way more relevant right now then eminem is.
I swear to God I'm going to pistol whip the next person that says "XXX is way more relevant right now then [sic] YYY", especially when referring to hip hop/rap/pop acts.
And, just for the record, WTF is a Dungeon Family, and when did such a thing become relevant to anything?

I haven't seen that anywhere else but it makes me love HTML5 there is going to be so much cool crap like this in the future. Great song and really fun interactive stuff.
Not that my friends have any musical credibility, but there are currently 9 people on my Facebook with statuses asking who Arcade Fire is. Just saying (and I think that they are big enough to headline).
I didnt really know about AF until reading about them on here over the past few weeks. After there perfromance on the Grammys, I cant freaking wait to see them at Roo.
Has there been any truly credible source (including Insider) who has said there certainly will NOT be a classic rock headliner on saturday night? If not, then I don't see why the Stones (Mick's obviously ready) or Buffalo Springfield (all but confirmed that they're ready to tour) are so out of reach.
Buffalo Springfield out of reach? No reason to believe so. Buffalo Springfield a headliner? Absolutely no quacking way, shouldn't happen, not going to happen. You're talking about a band that was excellent, but largely forgotten, and has put out what, zero albums in the lifetimes of most Roo'ers? I'd go see their set, for sure, but they will NOT headline.
And Insider said it would be a hip-hop act Saturday, no? My vote would be Wu-Tang Clan or the Beasties (or ytcracker!), but I know that won't happen.

What's the name of that rap group with all of the goofy leno on stage and the mozzarella sticks?
I just tried to listen to Eminem's new album. I got about halfway through the first song before I had to turn it off. I just don't get. So violent and remarkably vulgar. And don't go on about his "sick flow" because it'sjustreallyfastandchoppy. I'm not the type to say, I won't be on the farm if he's on the bill, but, I certainly won't be at his show. Howz about we just have Dre headline. That'd be fine with me.

I agree, I hate his rapping style. He needs to calm down.

Agreed I guess that BS alone may not be the headliner popular with the masses that we expect on a saturday. But what about Neil and Friends for the classic rock headliner?
At the Bridge School Benefit he had his longtime bassist and the drummer from CSN backing up him, stills, and furay. This potential headlining situation has been mentioned here before, but it does look more realistic (imo) now that we have more reason to believe that BS is going on tour, Crosby and Nash are going on tour, Crosby would "personally...like to go watch."
CSNY could all be there, and you'd really only have to rotate the old men with their guitars around neil's set...not such a logistical nightmare except for maybe an intense soundcheck
Doesn't everybody deserve to have the good life? -Dave Matthews Diaraby Magni. -Vieux Farka Toure Nature is the infrastructure of our society. -Roo sign The Road goes on forever and the Party never ends. -Robert Earl Keen That was ridiculous! -Mayer Hawthorne Hopefully this will cool things off. -Dr. Dog, leading into "The Breeze" We're in the middle of our one day tour here. -Jack Black
Does anyone know for sure if Eminem lip syncs some parts of his show? I have read that he uses a backing track, but from some of the videos I've been watching it sounds a little _too_ much like a CD is playing. For instance, I watched The Way I Am from Voodoo. I know that song really well, and I'll be damned if the backing track isn't much louder than anything he is actually rapping.
I've been to one other show like this (Bone Thugs), and it was very disappointing to see rap that I like not actually being performed live.
Silver Surfer #Arcade fire!!!!!!!!!! There is hope!!! I feel like we all won when something like this happens! quacking AWESOME!
Tell 'em, yeezy.
Strange, because I know I read an interview a few years back where 'Ye said he didn't get the Arcade Fire thing. Guess he came around. Good for him.
I always love a good laugh at Kanye. I'm glad he didn't interrupt them.
Overall Arcade Fire's ending on the Grammy's was great, though. Win's smirk while he sang "Will the business men suck our blood, like the kids in art school said they would?" was priceless. Seemed to me to be a shot at the Grammy establishment.

Am I going crazy? Since when is Dre's music any less violent, vulgar, homophobic or misogynistic than Eminems?
And thats what i love about it, strange.
havent heard all of recovery yet but am DLing now becauses thers only so many times i can listen to the Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP and Eminem Show in one day
Hey board. This is my first post but I've been creepin on here for quite a while. I'm not here to spew any stupid rumors/false confirmations or anything like that but I'm pretty sure that a lot of people on here are mistaken about Saturday night. Insider has said multiple times that there are going to be 2 headliners every night. She(?) even went so far as to purposely say headliner/primetime act. But when it came to the Black Keys, it was purposely stated that they would be a pre-headliner.
Why would Insider keep harping on headliners and prime-time acts and then say pre-headliner. I'll tell you why.
Eminem with Dr. Dre - Widespread Panic - Arcade Fire My Morning Jacket - The Strokes - Massive Attack - Primus Robert Plant and the Band of Joy - The Black Keys - Ben Harper and the Relentless 7
That is my final guess for how the top of the initial lineup will read. If it is the case, or we do end up with another headliner or a "surprise" toward the top, I would be thrilled. Not sure where the "once in a lifetime shows" will come from, but I am starting to get truly excited.

I don't care what you say, The xx (only two x's, not three) aren't nearly as relevant as the Yeah Yeah Yeah's. The latter headlined Lollapalooza two years ago!
As much as I'd love to see Neil Young in any form, I don't see any way a band who only has three studio albums, the most recent being 43 years old, is big enough to headline on Saturday night. Also, not sure if this has been brought up, but I thought that Rolling Stone article said they're ready to tour in the fall. If you want to get technical, Bonnaroo is in the Spring.

They'd be ready to tour in the fall, but they've already done two shows with 12-13 songs and can clearly do a one-off if needed. If Neil comes on and really plays a handful of BS hits (4-5) with them, then Neil plays some of his own (maybe with some guests), and CSN come out for the end for another handful of hits...it all seems doable

^ Did not realize they played a couple shows fairly recently, thanks for bringing that up. I'd certainly be down for what you mentioned as a possibility if it's at all realistic. He was in Milwaukee last summer but tickets ranged from like $95-195 so I didn't have a chance to see him.

Nah, I think he was just smiling because, y'know, he just won a Grammy.
It's weird how some people still think Arcade Fire is a secret or not big enough to headline. They were a secret at festivals in 2005, but it's 2011 now. Neon Bible debuted at #2 on Billboard in 2007. They played a huge show at Glastonbury. Maybe now that they've won album of the year people will stop acting like they are some hip new indie rock band.
I was joking and replying to those on the board that didnt think AF was big enough to headline. With this win though they enter a new world as far as people knowing their music. The house wife who watches the grammys now know who they are.

It sounds like that would be booking 3 really expensive acts for one set. Not really the same thing as doable.

I've said it before and i'll say it again.
Insider was giving us 6 names towards the top of the bill. She gave us 5 names.
Don't get caught up in the terms "headliner", "pre-headliner" or "prime time spot". Just know that she was giving us 6 top acts and we got 5 of them.
