yea i friend of mine whose gay came with my group last year and he had a great time. i didnt experience anyone giving him problems, and he plans to be back this year, so id say you have nothin to worry about.
I misread this for a sec and thought you were saying your friend owned a gay.

Last year we had six people in our group, four were gay. No issues at all. I was actually made fun of the most since I was the only person in our group that didn't like dudes. This year I think four gay/lesbian couples are coming with us.

I think the exact quote was, "I might be the only girl here, but you're the only one who doesn't like d*ck."
...and then she proceeded to slam a beer faster than me...

This is Bonnaroo (aka. Paradice) Since this is heaven to me as well as countless others then there is no such thing as race, creed, color or sexual preferences. We are all family here and family excepts you no matter what!! I wish it were like that everywhere. Come to the farm and be loved no matter who you are!!!!!
How does characterizing the locals as rednecks demonstrate your own open mindedness and tolerance? Isn't that the kind of stereotypical thinking you claim to be against? The very definition of diversity is being open to people who have different veiwpoints. Otherwise it's not diversity at all.

I can see where you're coming from. I'm Indian...and I'm Muslim. So needless to say I was kinda wondering what the vibe would be at Bonnaroo. And yes I'm nervous, but don't NOT go. Go, and enjoy yourself, live your life. I have travelled all over the world and have had all sorts of people say judgmental things about me. But those things don't even compare to the amount of greatness I've experienced. Never live in fear. Just go.

haha is this thread for real? It's a bunch of hippies, everyone is friendly! and on a side note, how would they even know? do you go running around announcing your sexual orientation to every person you meet?

personally i read the posed question as "can i act as i normally do and hold hands/act affectionate without getting bombarded with unnecessary comments?" i think that is fair question for someone who has never been to 'roo and is not from that area.
my take on it is have fun, be yourself, and don't be too worried about what others think.
