Having been only to Coachella the last 4 years and seeing how gay friendly it is, how is it compared to Bonnaroo? I'm mostly just asking this because this will be my first Bonnaroo and I'm a little scared of what the corwd demogrpahic might be considering its location. Now that may be dumb for me to assume that, however I felt that the Coachella location played a large part into the gay-friendly vibe. Any insight from 'Roo vets? Thanks.
yea i friend of mine whose gay came with my group last year and he had a great time. i didnt experience anyone giving him problems, and he plans to be back this year, so id say you have nothin to worry about.
There are so many crazies running around, nobody notices "the gays." I was with a gay guy last year and have been with a gay female in years past. Never any issues. Everyone is friendly!

'Roo is by and large filled with people who are pretty open-minded about life in general I feel. I doubt there would be any issues fer you. I personally welcome everyone ta Bonnaroo!
The state of tennessee isn't the most gay friendly state in the union, especially in the "dirt between your toes" areas. The people around my parts tend to be quite racist too. However, as said, the crowd bonnaroo draws is, in general, young, or atleast young at heart/mind, and thus less likely to discriminate.

^^^Pretty much
The fact is that Bonnaroo in no way shape or form represents TN. Most people do not give a shit what your sexual orientation is. Most people do not give a shit what you do in general at Roo as long as you don't infringe on someone else's Roo experience in a negative way.
That being said, there are a$$hats, idiots, immaturity, and close minded people at Roo just like there are anywhere else you go.
The experience you had with people at Coachella is going to be similar at Bonnaroo. That doesn't mean you aren't going to run into some intolerant people at either fest though. People are people, good and bad.
I don't envy anyone that is gay and having to deal with some of the societal stigmas that still exist; however, that being said you have to make a choice about whether you're going to let that shit guide your life.
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo
anyone who is at Bonnaroo with all the experiences it has to offer and who chooses to spend his/her time focusing on the sexual orientation of their fellow Roo-goers instead of having fun is indeed a sad, sad individual.
We let the retina searingly white guy with the Borat swimsuit stay.... Gay probably isn't going to bother us. How would anyone know unless you dress like Liberace, in which case you will probably get stopped a lot to ask for pictures...
Bonnaroo tends to attract a pretty liberal crowd - at least socially liberal, if not necessarily politically liberal as well. I seriously doubt you'll have any issues, and I'm guessing your experience at Roo will be pretty similar to Coachella in that regard. That being said, there is generally a small but noticeable minority that aren't quite as enlightened, and are there mainly for a 4-day party without much care for the music or the community - but even they tend to keep mostly to themselves. I would say I found the Bonnaroo crowd to be at least as tolerant as the people in my hometown, and I come from the liberal mecca of Boston.
One last thing - you'll probably see some Westboro Baptist types holding picket signs near the entrances to the farm. These people are the scum of the Earth and are about as representative of the Bonnaroo crowd as they are of Christians in general - which is to say, not very. Don't let the smurfs get to ya.

you put your homosexuality to the forefront by posting this thread. no one at roo cares if you are hetero, homo, black, white, green, purple. this was a clear cry for attention and uncalled for. just go there and enjoy the experience.
Holy Leno! How funny! I'm almost positive we saw you guys walking to Centeroo... Saturday, I believe, possibly Sunday. My friend pointed and said, "I love adorable lesbian couples"! Small world!

you are a fraud.
I'm really sorry if I offended you in anyway. Having never been to the midwest/south in my entire life, let alone being outside of a major metropolitan region, I was a curious as to the vibe. Maybe, I'm the issue here since I seemed to classift all people from small Tennessee areas as homophobes. I apologize.
I hope you find Bonnaroo suits your tastes as an awesome music festival, regardless of what your sexual preference may be mate. The vibe has always seemed to be positive in my book so good luck!
