I dont think this is right but it could be Roger Waters playing The Wall. The Wall album was written about David Gilmour's childhood and it came after Dark Side to the Moon.

To describe something as a "watershed moment" is to say that such a moment is the "decision point", the "point of no return", the "moment when the path forward is fixed". It implies that a crucial choice is to be made between two or more options and that once made the choice cannot be reversed or reconsidered.
My first inclination is to not believe it's Bowie but Space oddity was during his Ziggy Stardust period. Speckled Lad= Glitter? Space Oddity actually isn't sounding too bad. Although " A trip to space thwarted" makes it seems they never made it to space. Major Tom went up in space and cut communication once he was there. HMMMM.
Space Oddity was a few years before Ziggy Stardust.
I really don't think it's Bowie. I think the "watershed moment" line means that whatever song/album they are referring to is this artist's breakthrough album/song.
A trip to space thwarted by a speckled lad's demise. A watershed moment otherwise.
Watershed could mean a few things... Crying (shedding tears), bathroom (sometimes refered to was "water closet"
Um, Ken Mattingly was the initial pilot for the Apollo 13 Command Module, but was removed from the flight crew 3 days prior because he had been exposed to german measles.
Had he been aboard, he may have pissed in his space suit when the O2 tank exploded.

so like waters came forward and disclosed some things in a watershed moment?

Just want to let everyone know that they likely aren't going to be giving out any of the top 5 bands in this clue thing. They never leak the headliners on purpose and the clues are usually big acts but not the biggest. So guesses like Elton John, The WHo, Bowie, etc. should all be disregarded.

I'm not thinking glasses when I hear speckled...the first thing that popped in my head was freckles....just a throwing that out there. I'm terrible at these clues.
that could be it. can you explain to me why rome makes it a watershed moment. im not disagreeing im just not familiar
im a diehard sublime fan, huge, and because i was born in 1987 i was a wee one when they were touring and i never got the opportunity to see them live before brad died.
rome being in the mix is a huge turning point for myself and others like me, i finally got to see music live that i grew up on... the drummer recently proclaimed soberness too, the band is changing.
rome's bringing that norcal flavor, deep sounds, and weed crazy lyrics.

Guys.....they aren't going to give away Pink Floyd and they certainly wouldn't be doing it in the first clue.

Usually, but someone did mention the first clue in 2009 was Snoop.

Um, last year DMB, Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z were part of the clues.

Like I said - they likely aren't going to give out any of the top 5 bands or any headliners. Snoop was listed 9th in 2009.
My point is that Pink Floyd, The Who, Bowie, etc. are all bad guesses and likely wrong.
