Someone on the AC twitter account guessed RHCP. They asked to hear reasoning. I never once expected RHCP on any lineup this summer. i hadn't heard any talk at all. But when you think about Dress Code: Sheer and Think of Chili Peppers. It might have some kind of connection.

To the people who are saying that it's Paul Simon:
That's honestly just way too easy. I mean, S&G have a song titled "Cecilia." I, as well as everyone else, I'm sure, start singing that song in their heads whenever they hear the name Cecilia. To just take that one word, and be like, OMG SIMON AND GARFUNKEL HAVE A SONG CALLED CECILIA IT'S CECILIA GUYS IM POSITIVE WOO I GOT IT! just isn't productive. We didn't even have clues that easy during the first year, when there was a "Clouds taste like this" clue. We need to keep working. So far, I think the Bright Eyes clue makes the most sense, but I don't think we're quite there yet. We need to keep thinking outside the box.

I hadn't even considered them for Roo, but it'd be awesome to see them there. They have an album coming out this year (without Frusciante, if I remember correctly) so it'd make sense if they toured after its release. For the life of me, though, I can't tie them into this clue.

Yeah, Frusciante is focusing on his solo career, which, given his last few albums compared to the last couple RHCP albums, is a good decision. He has definitely sounded like he is outgrowing them, musically.
Josh Klinghoffer is taking his place, and I can't imagine them missing a beat with him in Frusciante's stead.

there is so much rehashing over the last couple pages. Shear doesn't mean the same thing as sheer guys, okay? They are different.
Also, I SERIOUSLY doubt the girls school has anything to do with it. I could be wrong, but I don't think sp/ace want to risk us calling them up to ask about their dress code or anything like that, I feel like they'd be more likely to leave them be.
Honestly I feel like this clue is less of a stretch than we're going for. From the start it sounded like a pretty straightforward clue, in that whatever the answer was would make SENSE. So all of these really obscure synonyms for sheer are nice, but I feel like if you have to explain what the definition of sheer is in the context with your guess it's probably not it. Sheer is a versatile word, but it's a word most people use and are familiar with, so don't push it, there isn't really a need to!
I like the bright eyes guess, I think the direction of eyes/blindness/myopia is a really reasonable direction to go in and I think it sounds like a really solid interpretation of the clue.
St Cecelia= Patron saint of MUSIC Sheer Music is a record label in souf Africa focusing on domestic and International club/dance/trance tracks. It's a stretch but if you reword to Sheer Cecelia (music) dress code: you get Sheer Music's dress code...trying to do this all from my phone and this is as far as I have gotten. Thinking way outside box but do we have a DJ/Lunar clue?
In connection to South Africa we may find The Answer. The english to Afrikaans (south African native tongue) translation of "The Answer" is "Die Antwoord" ...they will be at cha next fokken Roo

the thought randomly popped into my head...THE WHITE STRIPES. St. cecilia's dress code is white polos and stripes are sheer as in see-through. The way the clue is worded does seem to be calling for an adjective in the answer...
David Bowie? His 1st album after Tin Machine was "Black Tie White Noise." Black tie is a dress code for formal attire. (Let's assume "Cecilia's" is a place requiring formal dress.) Tin snips or tin shears are a common workshop tool. If you want to get picky, "Black Tie..." was Bowie retuning to a solo act, i.e. sheer Bowie.
RHCP have confirmed that they will not be at Bonnaroo. Their only festival appearance is going to be in Japan.
So did Metallica in 2008. Saying you arent doing a festival in december, before the lineup has dropped, doesnt mean much. They are headliners, they arent allowed to confirm themselves. If I remember correctly he was asked directly about Bonnaroo, he had no choice to deny it whether they were playin or not.
and a definition of sheer is perpendicular to and another is very thin
D: I don't think a definition of sheer is really perpendicular. If you use it to refer to a rock face then you mean it's really steep, perhaps perpendicularly so, but I don't think it's in any way a synonym for perpendicular.
still don't think st. cecelia's school has anything ti do with it, but that's just my opinion.

RHCP do have a drunken poetic reshambulance to the clue.

Or it could very well be Ace of Base... in late 2010 they released a new album. Their song Cecilia references the Simon/Garfunkel song. Which is said to be a reference to St. Cecilia. In the their song they say "Cecilia, walk in the light". The word Sheer could also used to mean "bright and shining" and synonyms being pure/unadulterated; which St. Cecilia was a virgin and a martyr.
