i think the that Zack can be seen as a veteran and magistrate by being against the ideas of the people applied to those words make's him a "Character of sorts"
Just throwing this out there, don't particularly think it's correct but maybe someone else can make something of it.
The first half of this clue makes me think of vampires (Vampires are mostly invincible, so that fits veteran part because most vampires are thousands of years old) and they are, obviously, also characters. Can somebody else make the second half fit to make Vampire Weekend? I don't know, I'm probably wrong on this one but I felt like it was at least worth mentioning.

Vampires "rule" the night, so in essence night is their throne which cannot be abdicated 'cause the sun will destroy them. Crabs are generally nocturnal. I found where some crabs in China begin a migration after a "fortnight" (14 day) period after molting, or shedding their shells.
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but maybe veteran and magistrate is pointing towards a previous roo act (veteran) and the magistrate part might be a previous headliner Since it means a high office? Also magistrate to me is more Europeancould be a previous European headliner? Not sure how the rest of the clue fits though.
Veteran of the rap game.... has a record coming out called "Watch the Throne" He's got crabs? (probably)
There's no way... Not after what happened last time Kanye tried to play Roo. His ego is too huge to let himself return to Roo after he got booed off stage.

I'm gonna go ahead and throw out Furthur, although I didn't read any of the pages of this thread aside from the OP.
Veteran, different characters within reincarnations of the Grateful Dead, whose throne cannot be abdicated, and what do crabs make forts out of? The Dead.......?
Haha, typing this shit out just makes it sound more and more ridiculous.
Based on eastkyroos last post I googled "Throne of seashells." A song by someone named SIA came up and this was the chorus "Burning castle/ Turning down/ Mr. Prince has/ Lost her crown. Not making a guess, just throwing new info out there to try and rekindle the guesses.
Last name king (you usually don’t abdicate, or cast off, your last name….and a King has a throne), has an album called Red Mud (which fiddler crabs can make a throne of), and he is also listed as an actor in the movies Ray and O Brother, Where Art Thou? (for the character portion).
He was also in Kill Switch as a detective it looks like; I haven’t seen the movie but maybe he’s involved in the role of magistrate at some point or other in that, since he’s associated with the judicial system in some capacity?
Also, he’s from New Orleans, where blue crab is in popular demand (lateral connection between “blue” crab to “blues” music?).
Reading the clue it does seem to indicate that the throne and substance a crab can make a fort out of are related....but I'd like to hear Gary confirm/deny that. I searched for Chris Thomas King in the forums and haven't seen the guess, so at least it's something new
Well...there really aren't a whole lot of materials that crabs inherently make forts from.
Mud/Dirt (really common for most crab species, as many burrow/dig) Oysters (for the oyster crab) Shells (for hermit crabs)
Am I missing any?
All salt water organism will use ANY structure to hide in/under though, so unless the clue has constrained fort materials to what is evolutionary common for crab species to use, it may be impossible to lock down the fort reference.
# Forts (album), an album by The Boggs # Fortress (Sister Hazel album), an album by Sister Hazel # Fortress (Protest the Hero album) # Fortress (Miniature Tigers album) # The Fortress (2010-), a metal/grime band from Lawrence, KS
Plus a litany of literal forts, the B-17 Flying Fortress, and some people named Fort.
Most notable actual fort I can think of is Fort Knox, which houses a vast amount of gold bullion. Also named after Henry Knox, much like Knoxville, TN.
