The first part, "A veteran and magistrate OR a character of sorts" might point to the name Jack. I thought of the jack from playing cards, who is a soldier (veteran, magistrate) OR a character of sorts (a character found on cards that one might sort).
This could point to one of Jack White's bands (for the second part of the clue) or it could be another Jack or a song or an album...

Maybe a band with certain "characters" in its title. "!" (i.e. you say party! we say die! / Los Campesinos! The Go! Team) None of those seem very likely answers, i was just trying to see if it jogged ideas from anyone else
there are also trees called PURPLE PRINCE CRABS...

I was googling to try and figure out the crab part. . . Top find was questions about getting Crabs from a toilet seat. . . Surely they can't mean that, haha.
I wasn't thinking of the STD because it seems pretty odd they would relate any band who was playing to a STD. So maybe im an idiot, but im still not convinced
A "justice" is a magistrate. The band often goes by the symbol "†"... a character "of sorts", using the definition: "sort - characters of a particular font that are rarely used". They're veterans of the electronic music scene having remixed lots of Roo artists, and they're veterans of the festival scene have played tons of festivals (not Roo though). I'm not sure how to relate the crab bit though...

Ok for the first time this year I am going to try to help. I am going to try to take this in another direction from what is already here and it is very much a theory to be built off of with many different directions.
First of all what throne can not being given up and would make a fort for crabs? Possibly the throne of Poseidon. Described on various sites to contain various types of stone and coral, a good crab fort. Also the throne of Poseidon is that of a God which I imagine would not be abdicate-able.
So now how to relate "A veteran and magistrate, or a character of sorts" to Poseidon. First thing that comes to mind is King Triton in Little Mermaid which always seemed like Poseidon to me and is a character of sorts (an animated one) voiced by Kenneth Mars. Kenneth Mars has played various roles that are involved in military and law enforcement qualifying the veteran and magistrate. Don't really know where to go from there. Bruno Mars?

I'm forced to eat crow there, I posted before I looked. Rachiearch (sp?), I think Jack Johnson is a good guess as well. I see how Jack plays into it.

Well if my guess is not good enough for anyone of you.... atleast use some of it.
A throne that can't be abdicated could refer to God or something that could refer to God. (I guess in the bible it says that God's throne is for eternity.
The Crab fort could go towards the beach chair.
And refer to my previous post for info of veteran and magistrate.

haha I like the John Legend logic except that Gary Chardonnay said "of sorts" was significant and the John Legend logic didn't really use it. Too bad though because it sounded good!
