It makes me feel a lot better about Roo's lineup because quite a few things I wanted at Roo that I didn't get ended up being on the Lolla or North Coast lineups. Also, the acts that are playing both Bonnaroo and Lolla this year will allow my schedule to be more open at Roo without worrying about missing someone such as Atmosphere, MMJ, Explosions in the Sky, Portugal The Man, Pretty Lights, Girl Talk, Sleigh Bells, Ratatat, or Beats Antique.
I remember in past years, their headliners looked great but the undercard was worthless. This year the 2nd tier undercard is amazing. And I don't particularly love any of the headliners, but for my own personal taste they beat bonnaroo
It's not "worthless" just cause it's not your thing. Last year the Black Keys, Spoon and The National were 11-12-13 on the lineup. That's about all you can hope for in terms of sub-headliners if you ask me. Just on Sunday last year they had MGMT/Yeasayer/Mumford and Sons/Frightened Rabbit/probably more I'm forgetting on the North field. I'm not real into all of those bands but they all have a pretty good fan base.
If Beirut and/or Explosions are conflicting with The Strokes at Roo, this will be tempting.
Agreed 100%. Still the 24 hour thing Bonnaroo offers has Lolla beat (I know I know it's Chicago... but it's still not the same thing)
In this regard, Lollapalooza doesn't hold a candle to Bonnaroo. If I didn't already live in Chicago I wouldn't travel for Lolla.
I gotta agree also... logistically Lolla doesn't hold a candle to Roo. In a perfect world I could have all my favorite bands playing longer sets and epic latenights at Bonnaroo.. it just so happened they all got booked for Lollapalooza this year. I didn't take this decision lightly. I will miss Bonnaroo and it breaks my heart I can't go to both. I will miss the latenights
Plus, what we're ignoring: Eminem delivers a tight, solid, dependable show. Someone like Lil Wayne, who has a similar mix of critical and commercial appeal (not quite at Em's level, but close) just can't be counted on to deliver a headliner-worthy show. Like Jay-Z, Eminem's a known workhorse who will do what it takes to deliver an enjoyable performance.
Man you sound like a total newbert with that Emimen BJ you just gave.
I saw Eminem at Voodoo 09. I left after 20 minutes because his show was overproduced garbage with a lame crowd. Walked over to Ween and proceeded to have a joyous time rampaging in the mud.
Fuck having these joker ego-rappers at music festivals. Bring iin the real hiphop if ya gotta have that "urban appeal".
You can book a hotel for around $30-$40 a night outside of chicago and take a train into the city.
That would be retarded. If you're coming here for the festival enjoy it for what it's meant to be and thats a festival IN the city. Tons of things to do after the shows at Grant Park end each night that shouldn't involve finding your way to a train to leave the city.
i wanna hit up lolla but it just depends on a place to stay. its either lolla or that crazy weird kansrocksas or whatever its called.. lets call it mini lolla at a racetrack
He's going with me, duh. No really. Whoever is going should hit me up its a five minute walk from my apartment. I smell a partay.
I have 1 friend that's committed to going for sure, and a couple that are on the fence. So I'll be coming with her and whoever else decides to join us. And I might just take you up on that Rynoia

Still not sure what I'm gonna do about this.. I'd like to stay in the city. It looks like all the hotels near grant park are about $200 a night... pretty steep.. Is there a middle ground? I'm hoping I can find other places that are downtown, maybe a little further from the park, but with cheaper rates. I have some research ahead of me this weekend
laggy i dont live in chicago.. im about 5 hours outside chicago..
its chris with the place near. whenever im in downtown chicago i priceline and always get a hotel near the convention center which is about a 15 minute walk for about 70 a night. thats the cheapest ive ever got.. some times its around 100. but i dont think this will be the case during lolla...
i was just asking if he was trying to put people up! haha
