^That's what I was thinking. Daft Punk really probably are the biggest, ever... at one point, though, Moby was a pretty big deal Aside from those three (the other you mentioned, Prodigy) I can't think of any that really pop out.
Yea, don't care for LCD at all. Seen them and was severely disappointed. Song after song was the same monotony and lame vocals. Next! I would love some Moby though.
LCD is totally overrated on this board. They definitely aren't close to Daft Punk, Massive Attack, or The Prodigy.
You have a little bit of a point on Massive attack, but not on the other two. LCD makes good music and is relevant. Daft Punk dresses up like Robots, and does the soundtrack for lame Disney sequels, the prodigy shouldn't even enter into the conversation.
Massive attack is better, but they are more a hip/trip hop act than electric.

They really are not in the same genera at all so they are hard to compare. To me what really separates LCD from everything else is the live performance aspect of what they are doing.

Yeah, I agree that they're in different genres. And I'll agree that LCD's tight-ness as a live band is what separates them from a lot of other "electronic" music. And that tightness comes through on record. Same thing with Hot Chip, if you ever get a chance to see them live (except, for them, it doesn't come through on record as clearly).
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
They are mainly DJ's though for the music right? I have not seen them live myself. LCD playing even the beats live is part of what makes them unique in the electronic music world to me.

To clarify Massive Attack are not dj's at all. Their live set is incredible and had multiple artists on stage with them, I really wish I could have seen LCD Soundsystem out of the three chances I had to see them last year. I am just now starting to like This is Happening, but have no regrets for skipping them for Monsters of Folk at ACL.
Anyways, Massive Attack will suck you into their world live. Totally mesmerizing, not sure if LCD Soundsystem is completely mesmerizing live. I can't answer that.

From wiki
Massive Attack is a collaborative music production duo from Bristol, UK. Working with co-producers, as well as various session musicians and guest vocalists, they make records and tour live. The duo are considered to be progenitors of the trip hop genre.
DJs Grantley "Grant" Evan Marshall (a.k.a. Daddy G or "G"), Andrew "Andy" Lee Isaac Vowles (a.k.a. Mushroom or "Mush") and graffiti artist-turned-MC (later turned-singer) Robert Del Naja (a.k.a. 3D or "D") met as members of DJ/MC partying collective, The Wild Bunch. One of the first homegrown soundsystems in the UK, The Wild Bunch became dominant on the Bristol club scene in the mid-1980s.[1]
DJ's touring with a live band are still DJ's imo. Not that it takes away from the how good a show is.

I thought he played most of the instruments himself. DJ's use synthesizers and sampling to compose their music, and I do not believe he does either.
Reiterating what was already said, this is exactly what Massive Attack does, they play all the instruments themselves. They don't sample anything.
I mean, yeah they use synthesizers/keyboards, but so do plenty of rock bands. Hell, I'd say close to 50% of modern bands do. You sure you know what a synthesizer actually is?
^I know what a drum machine is. Also the composers are still DJ's the music is made by session musicians, they do not play them personally, which is the point I was making.
James Murphy is a DJ that used to go by the name Death from Above. In fact, that is why Death from Above 1979 had to add the 1979 to their name. However, LCD Soundsystem makes all of their music live with out the us of a DJ. They do use synths and drum machines, but they are all not pre-programed.
I don't know Massive Attack well enough to say how they do their music live one way or the other.

Did he go by that name or was it the fact that it is a record label with Tim Goldsworthy? I can't remember.
He does play instuments as I remember him playing drums in Speedking in the 90's.
