I saw someone say something about Dr John and Dan doing Captain Beefheart covers for the superjam. I would like to know more about that. Dr John seems to have the voice to pull it off, and i'd imagine they would be doing more early blues beefheart. Maybe China Pig.

I know the Black Keys do a cover of "Her Eyes are a Blue Million Miles" which is a Captain Beefheart tune. Other than that I'm clueless on what they'll play. Can't waith though. Hope they jam to different tunes and don't just focus on one band

Keys have also covered "I'm Glad" live before. I think a Beefheart tribute would be a fine theme for a superjam.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
They recorded it and gave it away for free on their myspace awhile back as well. There has to be sit ins it would be weird to see them try just a piano and guitar set..

There will likely be a full band with rotating musicians.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Patrick Hallahan (My Morning jacket) on drums since he worked with Dan Auerbach. Don't know who they'd get to be on bass but i'm sure someone awesome.
Brian will be joining the legendary Dr. John & Dan Auerbach (from The Black Keys) on stage at this year's Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee! Brian is also recording saxaphone for Dr. John's upcoming album. Bonnaroo Festival Takes Place June 9 thru 12. Visit the Bonnaroo site for more info & artist line up.

Also his website is saying Sat June 11th. Well there goes my idea of Dr. John Sat and Sun.

That's so freaking awesome, mostly because I'm also from Cincinnati like Brian. He used to play with the Greenhornes. Also, his website lists Saturday as the date with Dr. John & Dan Auerbach. Could the SuperJam be Saturday and not Sunday like we thought?

I'm the opposite. Sunday's a clusterfuck even without the Superjam, and Saturday for me is the weakest of the three days, not counting Thursday. I'd love it if it was actually Saturday.
It would make sense due to The Black Keys playing Saturday but I'm not sure where it will go. If they are pre headlining (BKs) then Super Jam couldn't close out a tent, I don't think. Maybe opening a tent or Which? IDK but if that website is right then Saturday just got real interesting, schedule wise.

Perhaps we'll see Black Keys play the main stage, then Dr. John/Dan Auerbach Superjam going on while Eminem plays?
Otherwise.....the Superjam will have to be pretty early in the day right?
Wow -- nice find with the Brian Olive sax info! I saw him way back with the Soledad Brothers and I can remember him killing it -- a totally smokin' set. I could not be any more pumped for this. Let the river of Superjam information leaks flow!!!
I can't see it opening a tent either. If it does I'll be pissed if it conflicts with Black Joe Lewis. On the plus side it seems to take away the Robert Plant conflict but it certainly adds to the already conflicted Saturday schedule.
It is definitely time for some speculation as to what Dr. John and Dan Auerbach might play. I am going on the assumprion that they will choose a band/genre to stick to so here is my wishlist:
-The Band (This is fueled by lack of things I can think of them to play that have awesome guitar AND piano parts)
As much as I love The Band (and they're my favorite all time), The Stones made a hall-of-fame career out of this. And their music is bluesier than The Band's.
12:30-1:45 Warren Haynes Band 2:45-4:00 Gregg Allman 5:00-6:30 Black Keys 7:30-9:30 Buffalo Springfield 10:30-12:30a Eminem
Which Stage
11:45-12:45 Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears 1:30-2:45 Old Crow Medicine Show 3:30-5:00 Alison Krauss & Union Station 5:45-7:15 Mumford & Sons 8:00-9:30 SuperJam

Maybe the Desitively Bonnaroo performance will just segue into the Superjam. I believe I remember reading someone said that album was relatively short?

I think the LN release statement would have specifically mentioned the Super Jam in it if that were the case.

Yeah quite possibly. Just throwing an idea out there.

this would make me very sad if i were going and that was the schedule. i would want to see every one of those minus eminem.
Where are you guys finding the schedule of who is playing?? I know they said Widespread would close out the show but they didn't release any other bands times/dates?? I guess I have been kind of out of the loop with work so if you could fill me in that would be great.

Most of the bands playing have listed tourdates on various sites like their own or other sites like Pollstar, JamBase and TourTracker that list tourdates. But here's the Inforoo thread.
