Superjam is billed way too high to open up either of the stages, let alone a tent. Also, the fourth-billed act will not open for the fifth-billed act.
Anyway, I really, really want to see the superjam this year - I know there will undoubtedly be some heart-wrenching conflicts once the schedule is out, but at least I can rest assured knowing it won't be up against The Black Keys!

Superjam has so much potential. If Dr John is playing, why not have the meters play with him all weekend. And well I am on topic, why not have Galactic join them as well.
Also, the fourth-billed act will not open for the fifth-billed act.
Why not? It's happened before. Bands with lower billing have played right after bands with higher billing on the same stage.
I will never understand people who obsess about the order of the lineup. Some actually get angry that their favorite band is billed lower than a band they hate. Who cares? Just be glad your band will be there. Besides the top 3 names, it really doesnt matter. Want proof? The Superjam is the second to last show, but is way down on the lineup this year

So is it likely we will know any more info about this before the show? Did they announce it in previous years or was it on the little booklet of all the acts or something?

Usually we don't know exactly what will happen. They announced the 2007 participants ahead of time but that was because it was John Paul Jones's main set so they wanted to promote it I guess. 2008 it was kind of announced/leaked ahead of time from Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello that he and Claypool and possibly Kirk Hammet would be doing Tom Waits songs.....people weren't sure if Waits would actually be joining them but it ended up just being mostly Gogol with Claypool. Hammett came out for some songs as well.
The last two years Superjam didn't happen for one reason or another (poor planning......rehearsals turning out crappy....dunno). So it's possible that the only thing we know is that it's Dan and Dr. John and we'll find out who else is playing at the actual show.

Brian Olive and Valerie June have said that they're in. Beyond that I haven't seen anything. Do you think the rest will be made up of performers already booked?

It has been in the past.
I wouldn't be surprised to see My Morning Jacket's drummer playing drums since he's played with Dan in the past and will be there.....but there are tons of other options.

How big of a chance is it that the Superjam will run past 8:30? I was really hoping to see the entire Strokes set and still see the very end of the Superjam if possible.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Hard to tell. I personally think they'll play longer than they are scheduled but not really sure how much material they have planned.
Do the superjams usually just jam on previous material from the artists involved? I'd love to hear some Keep It Hid. Absolutely love that album.
Yeah me too. Hope Auerbach does another solo album soon.
The superjam in 2008 was mostly Tom Waits songs, despite Tom Waits not being involved. The 2007 Superjam with JPJ, Ben Harper, and ?uestlove did some Led Zeppelin songs, but also included Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, and Isley Brothers songs. I think it's up to the artists involved, and I'm down with whatever they decide

Really really wish the superjam hadn't started so late .... if I knew they were going to just be doing New Orleans themed/Dr. John songs I would have headed over to EITS MUCH earlier and caught most of what was an incredible set based on the last 30 minutes. Oh well, you win some you lose some and overall this years shows were a definite W.

from what i remember they played a bunch of new orleans standards mixed with a few songs from gris-gris (which was my highlight). not necessarily jazz though. twas dank.

Amazing show.....though it didn't last as long as scheduled. They started half hour late and ended just about on time. It was pretty awesome though.....some really great stuff. I talked to one guy who recorded it and said he'd post it on live archive when it's ready.

So they started late and didn't extend the set...did they apologize profusely to the crowd? Or can I start to petition Bonnaroo to never have the Superjam again because it obviously just disrespects Bonnaroo's fans?
There were no "Fuck Dr. John" or "Fuck Dan Auerbach" chants.....I can tell you that much. But they did seem to have a good time and ask the crowd how they were doing.
Seemed like the sound guys were to blame, not so much the artists. Either way.....it was a little crowded up front so I had to stand for a while and it was the last show on Sunday (besides WSP) so that was really straining by legs and feet. It was worth it in the end though. Great great show. Dan singing St. James Infirmary blues was a highlight and I liked the backup singers/percussion-filled version of "Iko Iko".
I have a great story about a girl exploding and completely freaking out on some dudes who were having too good of a time and bothering some of us. Tears, shocked faces, anger, and shouts of "You're RUINING THIS FOR EVERYONE!" were involved. I will post it sometime later because I just got in from my flight and need to be super lazy.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
