and apostle-why not? they played in the day last year, and theyve blown up. besides, all tent LNs arent going to be hip hop/electronic/jam. black keys played a LN tent last year, I could see Mumford doing the same thing
"it's possible" isn't a good reason for it to actually happen. They are a Which closer or a What afternoon set, no way they play late night.
I mostly agree but I can't say "no way." They'd be a great late night! Black Keys and Ben Harper and Relentless 7 don't scream late night set, but they got one. I also think Iron & Wine would dominate a late night set. Again, I dont think either of these will happen either, but Bonnaroo always has one or two late night tricks up their sleeve.
Gogol Bordello will probably headline Eugene Hutz's curated tent. I don't think they'll be a stage act. Probably be theme tent all day. Gypsy Punk Superjam late night. I'll probably plop myself there all day that day.
"You look like you're listening to every note." - Lady to me during LCD's "final" show 2023: Mar 29 - Guster Apr 6 - Postmodern Jukebox Apr 26 - Father John Misty May 14 - Taylor Swift (Philly) May 17 - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss July 12 - moe. July 16 - CAKE (Portland, ME) July 28-30 - Newport Folk (#12!) Dec 8-9 - Goosemas!
according to Primus' website they are playing on friday. Doesn't give a clue about late night really, I just hope they aren't playing opposite MMJ (which I think happened in 08 when Les was with Gogol Bordello/superjam LN, but thats just what I heard from the others in the crowd at mmj.)

lol ok. didnt know you were on the scheduling team for AC entertainment or I wouldnt have questioned you the first time.
FRI What: Decemberists or Mumford & Sons (6:30pm-8:00pm) -> Arcade Fire (9pm-11pm) -> MMJ (12am-3am) FRI Which: Black Keys (7:30pm-9:00pm)
SAT What: Buffalo Springfield (7:00pm-9pm) -> Eminem (10pm-12am) SAT Which: Lil Wayne(7:15pm-9:45pm) -> SCI (12am-2:30am)
SUN What: Robert Plant (6:30pm-8:00pm) -> Widespread Panic (9pm-11:30pm) SUN Which: The Strokes (7:15pm-8:45pm)
possible Late Night tent acts (order of likelihood): Pretty Lights, Girl Talk, Bassnectar, Ratatat, STS9, Robyn, Scissor Sisters, Explosions in the Sky, Big Boi, Black Star, Opeth, maybe Dr. John as well as the Superjam... Hard to say. I'm sure there's something here I'm missing. I'm not counting on any LN jam in the tents, seeing as MMJ and SCI are likely to play LN on the stages.
I could see this happening. I would hope they'd put Weezy up against someone completely different from him, and that'd be Buffalo Springfield.

Well, be prepared to be disappointed. It looks like insider ruled you out. Besides, MMJ will be playing for 2-3 hours so you'll be able to catch them at a point. And maybe in the future, I know I will. Opeth on the other hand (whom I listening to right now), is motherf.cking awesome with some goodness added to it.
Well, be prepared to be disappointed. It looks like insider ruled you out.
Uh, what? Did insider post again? Because in her original info, she said she didn't know if it would be MMJ > AF or AF > MMJ, specifically implying they could be late night.

Guys, I am fairly certain Buffalo Springfield isn't playing Stevie's slot from last year. Insider told us that The Black Keys were pre-headlining. Eminem is the headliner for Saturday night, not Buffalo Springfield. I think/hope the meaty part of the lineup will be something like this:
Friday: What: Buffalo Springfield (5:30-7:30) => Arcade Fire (8:30-10:30) => My Morning Jacket (11:30-2:30) Which: Lil Wayne (7-8:30) This LN: STS9 => Primus That LN: Ratatat => Bassnectar The Other LN: Scissor Sisters => Girl Talk
Saturday: What: The Black Keys (6:30-8) => Eminem (9-11:30) Which: Mumford & Sons (7-8:30) => String Cheese Incident (12-3) This LN: Dan Auerbach & Dr. John => Dr. John and The Meters perform Desitively Bonnaroo That LN: Explosions in the Sky => Pretty Lights The Other LN: Big Boi => Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Black Star (callin' it)
Sunday: What: Robert Plant & the Band of Joy (6:30-8) => Widespread Panic (9-11:30) Which: The Strokes (7:15-8:45)
Friday: What: Buffalo Springfield (5:30-7:30) => Arcade Fire (8:30-10:30) => My Morning Jacket (11:30-2:30)
I don't think I could handle that.
Saturday:
This LN: Dan Auerbach & Dr. John That LN: Explosions in the Sky The Other LN: Big Boi
Heartbreaking.
I was going to argue the EITS time slot opening a late night tent, but I think Sigur Ros did that as well. So it makes sense even if I don't want it to happen.

She did say that the bands she revealed were prime time spots and none were late nights.

Yeah, I definitely see EITS in Sigur Ros' slot from a few years ago. And I could definitely see them pitting the Auerbach/Dr. John Superjam against Big Boi since they're so different from one another. It sure sucks to be eclectic in your music tastes I would go to Explosions, but only because I've seen Big Boi twice (he is awesome live, BTW).
It could be worse...what if The Strokes or Buffalo Springfield somehow play the Which in opposition to AF's headlining set a la Beasties-Byrne? I wouldn't even know what to do...Or if Black Star or The Strokes went against EITS.
I think they'll be in a tent during the day Friday or Saturday...The Gypsy Punk Revue into Gogol or vice versa. Maybe with Beirut playing the same tent as well, depending on how much those two dudes hate each other.

Just sent an e-mail to info@mymorningjacket.com asking if they know when their slot is...we'll see if I get a response. I'm praying to God that they get a What LN right after Arcade Fire.

Ive been thinking maybe something like this... might be wishful thinking with 2 stage late nights on Saturday, but I wouldnt put it out of the question. There really seems to be an excess of bands that are deserving of a late night stage set and not much less. I just cant see Buffalo Springfield playing at 5:30 in the afternoon opening for Arcade Fire...
FRI WHAT Primus (6:30-8:00PM) > Arcade Fire (9:00-11:00PM) > My Morning Jacket (12:00-2:30AM) FRI WHICH The Decemberists (5:15-6:45PM) > Lil Wayne (7:30-9:00PM) FRI TENT LNs Sleigh Bells (12:00-12:45AM) > !!! SUN WHAT Ray LaMontagne (5:00-6:30) > Robert Plant & Band of Joy (6:30-8:00PM) > Widespread Panic (9:00-11:00PM) SUN WHICH Alison Krauss & Union Station (5-6:30PM) > The Strokes (7:15-8:45PM)
Buffalo Springfield, reunited with Neil motherfucking Young, will not and should not play at 5 in the afternoon opening for Arcade Fire.
I imagine we'll see the Jack Johnson / Pearl Jam setup we saw in 2008 where JJ started much later than pre-healdiners (8-9:30) and PJ came on later (10:15 - 12:15).
My guess:
The Black Keys (5 - 7:30) Buffalo Springfield (8:15 - 10) Eminem (10:45 - 12:30)
You can't really rule out Buffalo Springfield based on what Insider said. She also said that Lil' Wayne didn't work out, apparently Eminem was still under negotiations and she gave no indication of Buffalo Springfield...chances are they weren't even booked yet when she came around, which would be backed by Capp's comment about a "major piece" coming together.

She never hinted that Neil/Buffalo Springfield weren't there, she just said they weren't a headliner (and they aren't). From what I gather, she usually doesn't know the whole undercard, so it's entirely possible she didn't know BS were on the undercard.
She's been dead on with the headliner time slots the last two years, no reason to think she isn't right again this year. It'll be Arcade Fire>MMJ (or vice versa) Friday night, Black Keys>Eminem Saturday night, and Plant>WSP on Sunday. So, as awesome as Buffalo Springfield and Neil Young are, they're gonna have to open for either Arcade Fire or the Keys (unless they play Which, which is highly unlikely IMO). Opening for AF just makes more sense, like it or not.
There is no quacking way in hell they are getting Stevie Wonder's spot from last year. The Black Keys are billed higher than them, why would they give Buffalo Springfield the timeslot that is reserved for headliners? And, to clarify, I am as excited for BS as anybody, I just think that if they were gonna play Stevie's spot, they'd be billed a spot or two higher.
