In looking at the specific times for last year's schedule, I'm thinking more and more that Buffalo Springfield could work on the Which stage with 0 overlap between the Keys and Eminem (like Franti between Tenacious D and KOL on Friday last year). They could even get a full 2 hours and Eminem could be over by midnight, allowing SCI to play a long set on Saturday. In this case, I would put Mumford before Keys and Union Station before BS.
For Friday, Jim James said MMJ would start around 8pm, which would be like Stevie on Saturday last year, giving AF a slot similar to JayZ. If so, they would be done around 1:30 or 2pm. That should leave plenty of time for Lil Wayne to have a 90-120 minute set. Unfortunately, this would also likely ensure a 12-2ish LN slot for Big Boi in one of the tents against AF.
In summary:
Friday: What 5:30-7:30 Primus 8:30-10:30 MMJ 11:30-1:30 AF Which 4:45-6:15 Lamontagne 7:00-8:30 Decemberists 2:00-4:00 Lil Wayne (Big Boi in a tent 12-2)
Saturday What 4:00-5:00 Mumford and Sons 6:00-7:30 Black Keys 9:30-11:30 Eminem Which 5:15-6:45 Union Station 7:30-9:30 Buffalo Springfield 12:00-4:00 SCI
The crowd was much smaller than I expected, so you're not the only one who missed out.
I didn't even catch the context about it being actual dream having king of sleep. I just know that Sleep is touring this summer, and I had actually thought previously of how great it would be if they added a Bonnaroo date.
I don't know. That slot is quite similar to Phish's on Friday in 2009, which was officially referred to as a late night slot. I think if AF was playing a time slot like that, they would have been listed in the late night acts.

I just don't think your Friday is very believable. You would basically be giving MMJ the headlining set in this scenario. No way MMJ goes unopposed with Arcade Fire playing against LN tents. I think MMJ will be more like 7-9 (against probably Primus), AF 10-12 (unopposed).
Last year JayZ was referred to as a Late Night, and AF wasn't on the late night list. I don't think that's what we're looking at this year, Carl.
Good call. I'm going on the information that Jim James told someone they would be playing 8ish to 10ish, though. How do you reconcile that?
It would make a hell of a lot of sense to switch them (consistent with the JayZ/Stevie billing/scheduling last year), but I'm trying to make it work with what MMJ said.
I'm almost positive an approximate start time of 8pm with an approximate 2 hour set was mentioned. That was when we determined MMJ would NOT be a late night and would likely play before Arcade Fire.

As much as I would like that to happen I don't think the schedulemakers are going to want an 80,000 person cattle call migrating between What and Which Saturday evening. They will likely have some overlap to cause some dispersion.
Did Jim James say that they were playing from 8-10 to a reputable source or is it just hearsay? Historically every headliner on Friday night has started between 8:30-9:30 and played until 11:00-12:00 (with the exception of Beastie Boys who ended at 10). I just don't see why they would break that formula.

I couldn't think of a more perfect situation for me. But like everyone else, I just don't believe Arcade Fire will get that time slot. And regarding Jim James, I remember reading somewhere on here that he only said they'd be playing around 8 pm. He could be misinformed or whoever leaked this could be as well. I'm pretty much expecting MMJ to get 2 hours, and I think the 7-9 pm, followed by Arcade Fire from 10-12 am makes the most sense.
As for Lil Wayne, I don't think they'd put him late night right after Eminem. I'm putting my money on Friday late night to be rap heavy with Lil Wayne and Big Boi, and Saturday afternoon/early evening to be rap heavy with Atmosphere and Wiz Khalifa. Jovanotti is also playing Saturday but he'll be in Eugene Hutz's tent. Chiddy Bang is Sunday and J. Cole appears to be either Thursday or Sunday. He plays in Canada I think on Wednesday and also Friday and Detroit on Monday.

I was only suggesting Lil Wayne on Friday if Arcade Fire plays later than Eminem. I would expect they'll give a full 3-4 hours for SCI and only 2 to Wayne. If Em and AF both end around 12, it seems like a toss-up to me. Either Wayne plays right after Eminem on Saturday or he plays before/after Big Boi finishes his tent set. Unless they put both Wayne and Big Boi on the which stage, which would be a first for late nights.
I don't know about Cold War Kids or Amos Lee, but Bruce Hornsby and Daniel Lanois are like 100 times bigger than Robyn. Never even heard of her until the lineup came out.
well I guess you're just not up on things
Really though, she's pretty relevant right now. I hadn't heard about Lanois until I saw him on the lineup, and I know who Hornsby is but not the last time he did something interesting. You have to ta ke into consideration that a lot of the Bonnaroo attendees are going to be a lot younger than you are and probably won't know who Hornsby or Lanois are.
The point I was making, though, is that there's a reason she's billed high on the lineup. She's a big draw, and her work in the past year has catapulted her to the very forefront of indie dance pop. I would expect her to either headline a tent or play the Which stage right before the Strokes.
Sunday revised What: Superjam > Galactic > Plant > Widespread Which: Railroad Earth > G. Love > Bruce Hornsby > Iron & Wine > Strokes This: Neon Trees > Chiddy Bang > Amos Lee > Mavis Staples > Beirut That: Head & Heart > Ryan Bingham > Junip > !!! > Robyn Other: Mayfield > Smith Westerns > Van Etten > Daniel Lanois > EitS

That would keep consistency, but no way in hell does MMJ play a non-late night 2 hour set on the Which in 2011. Even if the higher-billed Buffalo Springfield does the same on the next night.

He told it to a poster on here that saw them play with Everest at a Louisville show. I believe him (but also think that things could change)

They've been breaking the headliner formula for the past few years. I don't know why they would stick to the old formula that they've changed slightly recently.

Below is the exact post that was posted about their timeslot:
Jim James did tell me that MMJ would be opening for Arcade Fire on Friday at Bonnaroo and not playing late night. He said 8-10 followed by Arcade Fire.
To me, that makes it sound like they'd play the same stage as Arcade Fire.

I wouldn't hold fast to any of these times. None of this is set in stone yet, so it's not farfetched for MMJ to play 7-9 and Arcade Fire to play 10-12, thus allowing late nights to get started on time.
I don't know, I was just thinking about that earlier. Why won't that happen?
I'm basing it still on insider's posts.
I feel like she was explaining the two big acts on the What stage for each day.
Sunday was Plant >> WSP Saturday was Black Keys >> Rap act they were negotiating Friday was MMJ >> AF or AF >> MMJ
Now, you could argue that she never specified what stage they'd be on and it's a fair point.......but to me, I was under the impression we were getting the 6 main What stage acts.
I'd like to think they might release the schedule a little earlier than last year since they announced the late night acts somewhat earlier. But I'm not getting my hopes up. I guess the schedule anticipation headache is part of Bonnaroo and I should learn to like it. But I'll probably just keep bitching about it.
