Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.
Well the Which Stage reportedly holds 30,000. I was at that WS show, and granted it was awhile ago, but (if the field really holds 30,000) my guess is there could've been as much as 50,000 watching them. I saw the crowd for them go all the way back to the Sonic Stage because that's as close as I could make it without really pushing through and being an ass. In terms of commercial success, WS are easily the bigger, more popular or more well known band. At Bonnaroo? I'd like to think MMJ. And they'll be on the What Stage, so they've got much more room to bring in many, many more people. If there's only 1 other stage/tent act going on at the same time as MMJ, they should easily have a bigger crowd than the WS had.
yeah so Im starting to freak thinking its gonna be primus vs mmj which I hope it wont Im just trying to figure who else would be a good split for which mumford into decemberist I cant really think of any other scenario that would make sense other than the primus vs mmj its just those are two of my main acts and also primus-->mmj--->af I cant think of anything more epic and fitting for the tenth
what Im getting at is should we "riot" if it doesnt work this way
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
I will keep this updated with my best guesses. Put mock lineups here so we don't clog up the other pages please.

Maybe switch Mavis to early on the Which stage and move !!! to early in This Tent? I'm kinda hoping the Superjam will be on the main stage with the large name recognition. I feel like Hornsby could close out a tent, or at least rock one midday.

Hornsby, Mavis, Galactic and the Superjam all make sense to me playing afternoon and early evening on the big stages. I think Iron & Wine could play an early evening Which slot, but they'd be better suited to closing a tent. Beirut is listed pretty high on the lineup, but they make a lot of sense to me opening for Iron & Wine. The big evening acts are Widespread, Robert Plant, and the Strokes. The other two tent headliners are Explosions in the Sky and Robyn, with Daniel Lanois and !!! opening for them, respectively.
This gives us something like:
What- Widespread Panic (HL) 9:00-11:30 Robert Plant & Band of Joy 6:30-8:00 Superjam 4:00-5:30 Mavis Staples 1:45-3:00
Which- The Strokes 7:30-9:15 Galactic 5:00-6:30 Bruce Hornsby 3:00-4:15 G. Love 1:15-2:15 Railroad Earth 12:00-12:45
This- Iron & Wine 6:45-8:15 Beirut 5:00-6:15 Amos Lee 3:30-4:30 Head and Heart 2:00-3:00 Ryan Bingham 12:30-1:30
That- Robyn 6:30-8:00 !!! 4:45-6:00 Junip 3:00-4:15 Chiddy Bang 1:30-2:30 Neon Trees 12:15-1:00
Other- Explosions In The Sky 6:15-7:45 Daniel Lanois Black Dub 4:30-5:45 Sharon Van Etten 3:00-4:00 Smith Westerns 1:30-2:30 Jessica Lea Mayfield 12:00-1:00
I have a bad feeling Plant and EITS are gonna conflict. Those are probably my top 2 for Sunday. I've been wanting to see EITS for about 5 years now and Plant, well, it's freaking Robert Plant.

I think (and hope) that Black Joe Lewis ends up on a stage on Saturday. I just don't see Naomi Shelton & Gospel Queens on What but I could definitely see him there or more likely on Which.

mxh,
yeah I think that looks good. I might have left galactic and the superjam switched around but who's to say really? It seems that there's no way around the fact that 5-8 on Sunday is gonna be full of conflicts. Painful, horrible conflicts.
As far as Saturday goes, Bonnaroo has a habit of putting gospel/world music on the what stage early in the day. So the Gospel Queens is certainly a possibility there. Black Joe Lewis could play Which, but there's kind of a big named classic, southern theme that fits well there that day.

Pretty much everyone's mock schedule has had Explosions conflicting with Robert Plant. Which is a real bummer, but I'm gonna have to go with plant. I feel like I'll have more chances to see Explosions than plant.

Last year Big Sam's Funky Nation opened What on Saturday. I think the energy level of Black Joe Lewis is similar. Not that Gospel can't own a stage but it seems more suited to a tent show.

True enough. You could put gospel queens in the tent at noon and move Black Joe Lewis to their spot. It's really a toss up, but I think the Gospel Queens will end up on a larger stage. Hopefully Black Joe won't have too many conflicts cause I'm curious about his set.

Let it be.
The Black Keys and Mumford are 1 and 2 on that Discover Bonnaroo thing. Does that mean they'd be more likely to have them oppose one another, or have M&S lead into The Black Keys on a stage? Hoping it's the first so BK and BS don't conflict, but who knows.
Plus, I'm pretty sure The Walkmen are confirmed for Thursday, and someone on here said Bradford from Deerhunter told them they'd play "when the small bands play" or something. Other than that it's pretty good. Big Boi and Black Angels are my top 2 late night acts so it'd be great to have one right into another.
Post by Mista Don't Play on May 2, 2011 23:50:36 GMT -5
That seems very plausible. It makes the most sense considering the anticipated draw of each band. There would be serious overflow if either of them were on the Which.

That might be my favorite schedule so far, I'd have something to do at nearly every point of the day. Beirut>EitS>The Strokes would be a perfect way to end it too.

Someone make a lineup where Ray lamontagne, MMJ, Buffalo Springfield, The Black Keys, Robert Plant, explosions in the sky, Iron & wine, Dr. John, Blea Fleck and the Flecktones, The Decemberists, Mumford & sons, and Beirut have no overlaping sets and are all at least a half hour apart. Cuz that would work reeeal nice haha.
