I think both Dr John superjams are strong late-night contenders.
yeah i see Buffalo Springfield in Stevie Wonders spot from last year.. no way late night.. for one they are all to old.. they will be asleep by that time
i'd love to see the strokes late night, but it seems most likely they'll have weezer's spot from last year. Girl Talk would be a great late night. i only caught a little of their set in 09. I'd like to have a second chance.

Well insider did say that it was going to be Arcade Fire>MMJ for Friday. The Black Keys>Eminem for Saturday and Robert Plant and Band of Joy>WP for Sunday.
I could easily see, The Black Keys (5:30-7)>Eminem (8-10)>Buffalo Springfield (11-1)
insider never said what time the hip hop act would be.. she just said that there was a hip hop headliner for saturday.. jay z was hip hop headliner last year and got the late night spot.. i think we will see the same with Em this year

But Em's got top billing this year. Maybe something like 2009 where we had two headliners into Phish latenight? I can see something like Buffalo Springfield vs Lil Wayne into Eminem latenight. Makes more sense than a lot of these suggestions.
And it's not a bad conflict, probably the most manageable conflict possible among the headline-tier acts. Most of Buffalo Springfield's fanbase doesn't give two shits about Wayne, and most of Wayne's doesn't give two shits about Buffalo Springfield. It's a perfect match.
It sucks because I could definitely go for both. But most of Wayne's fanbase doesn't realize that a Buffalo Springfield reunion is a truly special occasion, and most people who know who Buffalo Springfield is (if Inforoo is any indication) don't realize that Wayne may be nuts and possibly retarded, but he's a damn good rapper.

Said the same thing to my roommate. The only problem is I think BS might end up going unopposed because of how "once in a lifetime" it is.

They aren't going to give people who have no idea who Buffalo Springfield is no other major options. I think they'll put them against Lil Wayne... or scatter the times so like Lil Wayne 7-9 and then BS 8-10.
Also its possible that BS was added after insider made her post (assuming that's what AC's "once in a lifetime" tweet was about) so then they may have originally had Eminem play right after Black Keys but pushed him back to squeeze in BS.

Except there's only so much room for unopposed headliners, especially considering WSP is supposed to be closing out Sunday. I don't really see Eminem or Arcade Fire playing against anyone seeing as they're billed so high up. A lot of people here might not like Eminem sitting where he is but this isn't the first year everyone's gotten grumpy over some of the top billing. I would have loved to see KoL instead of Jay-Z play against someone last year, but the fact of the matter is Eminem is huge, he's talented, he's at the top of the poster and I don't see him playing against anyone. But maybe I'm wrong. It wouldn't be unheard of, but as big of a get as Buffalo Springfield is, they're fifth on the lineup. Maybe.
Oh, and no one has mentioned Scissor Sisters or Robyn for late night slots yet? I guess there's not a lot of pop fans on Inforoo, but Scissor Sisters and Robyn would make a great late night dance pop combo.

Yeah, that's what I was saying. I think AF/Eminem/WSP get the unopposed spots. But it wouldn't surprise me to see Eminem get the Jay-Z slot with bands starting 30-45 minutes after he does.

I think this is what happened. I dont think BS was on the lineup when insider spilled her info.
I think this scenario would work: Black keys preheadline Buffalo springfield early headliner spot, opposed on which stage by lil wayne. (ala beasties byrne 2009) Eminem early latenight, unopposed for first hour (ala jay z)
But it doesnt make sense for top billed artist to play only late night slot AND keys are billed above buffalo springfield so that suggest they'd get a more prime spot
I see everyone asking for explosions LN but im hoping they dont. I love them, but would much rather see a late afternoon/evening set as the sun is going down or a thursday night set to kick things off (which i think is possible. Portugal the man got a thursday set last time, and to me they are about on the same level as them.)
Obviously Bassnectar (the deadmau5 spot) and Girltalk(LCD spot?) are getting late nights I could definitely see Ratatat/Pretty Lights sharing a tent friday night. Im really hoping Portugal gets a chance at LN. They would be good regardless, but really something else in a LN atmosphere (I would love for a 1.5hr set with some guests coming by to do a few songs) Big Boi in the Cudi spot would be fun, placing it inbetween Ratatat/PL

Robyn is playing Sunday according to her tour dates (she's got shows on Fri/Sat elsewhere), so no late night for her. Odd to say the least.
My guesses for late night:
Which: My Morning Jacket (Friday - maybe on What) & String Cheese Incident (Saturday)
Tents:
Primus Wiz Khalifa -> Big Boi Pretty Lights -> Girl Talk Bassnectar -> (DJ to be added) Explosions in the Sky -> Warren Haynes Band Bootsy Collins -> Superjam ft. Dan Auerbach and Dr. John
Which Closers: Mumford & Sons, Lil' Wayne, The Strokes

This is what I was thinking is the most reasonable possibility. Black Keys closing What with a possibility of the last 30 min of it unopposed, followed by BS/Weezy staggered so that Weezy starts on Which right after BK end.
That way BK play unopposed for a short time, then overlap with Weezy who plays unoppsed while What switches acts. Then BS and Weezy overlap for a while, and BS plays unopposed when Weezy ends.
Into true LN, we see BS ending as the tent acts for the night begin. Then after BS is over, Eminem takes the stage for LN What a la Jay-Z).
The past few years they've had LN Which one night and LN What the other, usually with LN What being Saturday. This year there are so many big bands that could (and should) do LN acts that it's possible we see an overlap one night (both?? sound like a little much).
If Saturday happened as above, though, it could eliminate that need. STI could feasibly play in a tent, with MMJ on Which during LN Friday. Although, both could definitely be upgraded so that MMJ is on What and STI is on Which.
If we throw in Primus doing a LN, which would be incredible, the only place I see them fitting is Saturday on Which post Weezy, during Eminem on What.
This is getting way too complicated... I've been hoping for Girl Talk to be upgraded to the Which, but there seem to be too many bigger LN acts this year for that to happen. He may have peaked in popularity anyway (this cd/tour aren't nearly as good as his previous ones)
I think there might be a Tent that has something like:
Sleighbells > !!! > Girl Talk
This is where I'd be that night
And yes, this latenight speculation already feels too complicated. Actually hope they do split latenight what/which to give all the bands who deserve the latenights their spots
And by the way, imo the only thing 2010 had over this lineup is the latenights. 2010 latenights>2011 LN possiblities
i feel there are too many bands that should play late so someone is gonna get left out.. MMJ, The Strokes, Weezy, Primus, and SCI.. i think all of these are stage acts as well.. there are gonna be some LN conflicts this year

The Strokes could play during the day (Which closer).
I think MMJ will either pre-headline Arcade Fire or play What stage after Arcade Fire.
Primus and SCI seem like they will each get one night on the Which stage. Primus might conflict a little with MMJ if they have late night.
Could Friday go Buffalo Springfield (630-8) AF (9-11) MMJ (12-whenever)?
And Bassnectar, PL, Girl Talk, Bootsy Collins will all be late nights. As for Explosions in the Sky, I'd rather see them in the late afternoon like when I saw them at Lolla a few years ago, it seemed perfect.
if bonnaroo scheduled weezy on Which during the day.. it would really help out everyone..i would much rather see The Strokes or Primus for a Which LN rather than weezy
