if bonnaroo scheduled weezy on Which during the day.. it would really help out everyone..i would much rather see The Strokes or Primus for a Which LN rather than weezy
Unfortunately it's not all about any one person's personal preferences. All three of those acts make sense for a Which closer or a Which late night.
And for some reason MMJ LN What makes too much sense to me... They're renowned for playing latenight, people have been begging for them to headline for a while now, and the only place they have to go from here is LN What.

As far as LN tents, I definitely don't see the Sleigh Bells->!!!->Girl Talk happening simply because Sleigh Bells seems like such an obvious Thursday night act. I think Girl Talk deserves to be upgraded to Which Stage after doing the opening LN set at the Other Tent in 07, then closing That Tent LN in 09, but realistically there are just way too many bigger bands that deserve it more.
Beyond that, I could easily see !!! and Girl Talk in the same LN tent (if !!! does LN).
Some other tent idea that make sense are: -Bassnectar->STS9 with possibly another band before or in between, with STS9 playing until 5 or so. Maybe open this with Omar Souleyman or Dam-Funk? -Let the other of Souleyman/D-F open a tent followed by Pretty Lights->Girl Talk. If these two tents were on different nights, that could really divide electronica nicely between the days. Knowing Bonnaroo schedules, though, I'd guess most of the Electronica will be on night. -Beyond that, another LN Black Keys set would rule, but doesn't seem probable two years in a row. -Robyn and Scissor Sistors sharing a pop tent is a nice idea. -I really like the thought of Gogol Bordello having a LN spot. I don't know who else would work well in a tent with them, perhaps P.tM? Beirut could too. -Explosions would be awesome LN, just like Sigur Ros was. I'd be more than happy with a sunset show, but LN would be a once in a lifetime show for sure. -Honestly, Weezy LN on the Which Stage would be pretty cool. I like a lot of his stuff, but a lot seems kind of uninspired, but I imagine him doing a LN set would be legendary. -another LN hip hop tent with Big Boi and Wiz would be killer (obviously not playing against Weezy or Eminem)

Portugal. The Man and Gogol Bordello both toured with Primus.......while they might be way too big for a tent........I would be amazed if they gave all 3 one tent for late night. PTM play for an hour, Gogol for 1.5, Primus for at least 2. That'd be epic.
Though I think Primus will get Which.
Also Black Keys won't be late night. Insider said they are pre-headlining Saturday.
with all these possible LN acts.. what is the possibilty that we get LN shows on both stages each night?
I'd say odds are good it happens one night, although it could be both. My guess would be Saturday night it happens, with Eminem on What Stage and someone like Primus or SCI on Which. Friday could be MMJ on What with Weezy on Which, but that could create conflicts with other LN hip-hop (Big Boi, Wiz)
Strokes will close Which one of the nights, I don't see them getting the LN.
Wayne would only get LN Which if he played Friday (to not conflict with Eminem).
Not to sound ignorant, but I really don't think Wayne would "appreciate" the LN Which slot. It's highly coveted and, if done right, can turn into some of the best shows of the year. He'd be just as good closing Which one of the nights, whereas Primus and SCI and MMJ would really, really excel if they got LN Which.
I'm hoping for...
LN Which - Primus, SCI LN What - MMJ Which Closers - Wayne, Mumford, Strokes
What: MMJ 1130 - 3 Which: Primus 12 - 230 This: Pretty Lights 1230 - 130 Chiddy Bang 145 - 230 Girl Talk 245 - 330 That: Destroyer 12 - 130 EITS 145 - 345 the other : Dam Funk & MB 1 - 215 Bootsy Collins 230 - 4

friday: what: MMJ (11:30 to 2:30) which: Primus (2:00 to 4:00) This: Pretty Lights (11:45 to 2) -> STS9 (2:30 to ....) That: Ratatat (12:30 to 2) -> Explosions in the Sky (2:30 to 4:30) Other: Sleigh Bells (12:00 to 1:00) -> Gogol Bordello (2:00 to 4:00)

Friday: What: MMJ 12am-3am Which: Girl Talk 2am-4am This: Pretty Lights, Ratatat That: Wiz, Big Boi, Black Star Other: Dr. John, Superjam
Saturday: Which: SCI 12am-2:30 This: Bassnectar, STS9 That: Primus, Explosions in the Sky Other: Robyn, Scissor Sisters
Not counting on Deerhunter or Sleigh Bells, Sleigh Bells will play Thursday and Deerhunter make more sense during the day. Not really counting on any indie during the latenights; the bigger indie acts typically play Which stage during the day or close out a tent before the headliner. The exception being really danceable acts such as Phoenix.
And if we do see both stages used in one night, they will not both be running at the same time. I put Girl Talk on the Which because they'll draw a ridiculous crowd no matter where you put em. All talk of who 'deserves' a Which late night aside, they will draw the biggest crowd of anyone at 2am.

I'm not sure I see Dr. John getting a Late Night for his Destively Bonnaroo set, I mean, there are just so many Late Night-style bands, and I see Dr. John's New Orleans-funk music translating just as well during the day.
Sleigh Bells will be thursday and I could see lil wayne closing out which one day.. i dont see wayne as a late night.. this Primus v. MMJ is gonna suck tho if it happens which is very possible
You guys are giving the big hip hop acts way too much time. Em will go for two hours and Lil Wayne will go for ninety minutes. No way either of them are going three hours.

I think the Friday schedule is going to mirror 2009 Friday: Arcade Fire = Beasties, Buffalo Springfield = Byrne, MMJ= Phish, Latenights = Girl Talk, STS9, Superjam, Big Boi Saturday schedule will reflect 2008 Saturday: Jack Johnson = Black Keys, Pearl Jam = Eminem, Kanye West = (gasp!) Lil Wayne, Phil Lesh = SCI, Latenights= Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, Scissor Sisters, Primus Sunday pretty much looks the same each year so: Alison Krauss > Robert Plant > WSP
With that thinking, we pretty much have all of our top of the bill contenders, with the exception of AF and BS playing unopposed. However Beasties were third or fourth on the line up and Byrne was 5 or 6 depending on how you look at it. AF is ranked two and BS is ranked fifth, so ranking wise it is pretty much the same thing.
All I know is that MMJ will play the exact time that Pretty Lights are going to be playing. I've been trying to see PL over the past year about four or five times and each time there has been some personal conflict that came up. Seeing that MMJ is the band I am most excited to see, bank on PL and MMJ playing late night Friday with my luck.

Arcade Fire, Eminem, Buffalo Springfield, and WSP will probably be all unopposed.. the lineup this year will be like last years.. Friday: AF - KOL's, MMJ and Primus will split the Flaming Lips spot on different stages.. Saturday: Black Keys - Dead Weather, Buffalo - Stevie Wonder, Eminem - Jay Z.. so as for late nights Primus and MMJ friday LN stage acts.. saturday Em will have early LN and SCI will play LN Which.. I see Wayne closing Which on saturday during Black Keys set on What.. as for late night tents you will see all the electro acts and some rap and some jam bands

I posted what I thought the schedule would look like, not what I thought they would actually play.
What Stage Saturday: Buffalo Springfield Which Stage Friday: SCI
Tents: 1. Ratatat into Explosions in the Sky (assuming EITS is Saturday late night and not Sunday day) 2. Pretty Lights into STS9 (assuming Friday due to Bassnectar and Girl Talk) 3. Bassnectar into Girl Talk (both are apparently Saturday) 4. SuperJam ft. Dr. John and Dan Auerbach, possibly followed by Dam Funk 5. J Cole, Jovanotti (apparently Saturday), Chiddy Bang, Wiz Khalifa (apparently Saturday) and Atmosphere (definitely not all five, probably only three, maybe one headlines a tent Thursday) 6. ?

I thought it was generally understood, but after reading this page, I guess not. Eminem is billed #1 on the lineup. He will not be latenight. He will be playing unopposed. He is not getting the Jay-Z slot. He is THE headliner.
But he is a hip hop act and everyone knows hip hop acts can't headline Bonnaroo. Everyone is forgetting about the surprise headliner that they are still going to announce(most likely Stones or U2).

Not to say that you're wrong, but last year DMB was number one on the lineup yet we tend to think of Stevie as THE headliner since he got the Saturday unopposed slot.
I don't think billing is a perfect indicator of scheduling. Maybe Em will get a partially unopposed semi-late night a la Friday Phish.

Being first on the lineup means Eminem will be unopposed.

it's not. i dont know why people cling to it like its set in stone. its supposed to be ambiguous and it changes every year.
eminem is the biggest artist on the lineup and thats why he is top billed. it does not mean his entire set will go completely unopposed, although i wouldn't be suprised if it did.
personally i think it will go Black Keys 5:30 - 7:00 -> Buffalo Springfield 8:00 - 10:00 -> Eminem 11:00 - 1:00am with some latenights starting at 12:30am (at the earliest) and others starting at 1:00am.
