I'm not trying to open this up for too much discussion because clearly we could spend all day debating how to pigeon hole certain acts to a specific genre. However, I wanted to create a quick reference guide for people who haven't heard of a particular artist or band by listing each by a genre/sub-genre that they are associated with. From here, if there is an interest in a particular act you can do your own expansive research. I denoted Jam Bands with parentheses.

Oh I could nitpick all day with the rest of you Inforoosters on how so and so should be in a different category or a category not listed, but this is a useful, generally accurate listing. Totally C&Ping it and sending it to my friends who are going to Roo with me! I don't have Coco to share right now, but next hour, I'm coming back and giving some to you!

Maybe I'm listening to the wrong Matt & Kim songs, but they're not post-punk.
Florence + The Machine is closer to baroque rock than folk.
Decemberists could switch over to folk rock, based on their entirely-folk new album (which will probably be a lot of their set). But Baroque works, I guess.
Thank you for everyone's feedback on where certain acts should be categorized. I appreciate everyone's passions for certain acts and I was going to make changes. However, I was advised against it (and originally had the same feeling) in that if I start make changes once way, someone will counter with an argument that the change should not be made. I don't want to spend hours making changes back and forth.
So as originally stated, please use this as a quick reference guide to get started on artists you aren't very familiar with. Once you listen to the act, you can determine for yourself not only what genre they fall under, but whether you like them enough to see them at Roo X.

I would definitely consider Alberta Cross more of a Blues Rock band personally but this is definitely an open ended discussion. Matter of opinion mostly
I know it's impossible to predict the schedule because we've only got the list of, what, like half the bands playing, but I've started grouping bands together I think would fit with each other. Let me know what you think and if I got some listed that would be better elsewhere.

^^^ I don't think they always group acts together if they are similar. Some times we get tents with two or three shows in a row that are similar but they won't put all the country girls in one tent. we'll see though.

Last year it seemed like the daytime tent shows were grouped pretty well so you could hear that genre back-to-back without alot of scooting around. I still wish I could clone myself because I like a variety of genres but at least it's like having waaaay too many choices of great candy - a great problem to have.
Did a shot at this over the weekend as well. Sorry about the formatting....
