im curious why so many people prefer Wiz over j. cole. i like black and yellow and the other single he has out but honestly theyre just good pop songs because theyre so catchy, lyrically they dont have a whole lot of substance IMO. the cabin fever mixtape is meh, i like some tracks but its not anything ive been telling everyone to go listen to. J. Coles FNL mixtape however is some next level shit that i think any hip hop fan should listen to from start to end

you know better then to judge an artist by singles on the radio. Thats like saying "well Radiohead had Creep" The cabin fever mixtape is definitely just meh,. Listen to Prince of the City 1 or 2 and Grow City.

The weekend before bonnaroo is the Roots Picnic in Philly and Wiz will be there along with Nas. I originally wanted to do wakarusa->bonnaroo but roots picnic->bonnaroo is more realistic for me. Meek Mill, a Philly based rapper, laid down some great lyrics over Wiz's black and yellow. "green and white, that's what we selling"
I'm kind of hoping that something awful happens to him and Lil Wayne next month at little 500 in bloomington,IN. Like, getting arrested for sexual misconduct with a minor or maybe getting shot in the leg or something. Maybe they would replace them with someone good (or atleast someone who wouldn't bring out the summers breeze in a sac in people), like the volta. I'd be just as happy with a solo Omar show.
You sound like a really cool person. /sarcasm
And LOL Mars Volta fans are pretty pretentious, and i love the Mars Volta
Where do you see pretentious in my post at all, fool? I didn't claim to be better than anyone, just that I wanted to see omar more than Wiz. Maybe you don't know what pretentious means though. It's an open forum. I don't care for wiz, you obviously love him. but, I'm glad we'll both enjoy bonnaroo at opposite sides of the farm.

Then you probably shouldn't wish terrible things on the artists that others want to see. Wishing that two music acts that many people enjoy get arrested or shot so you can see somebody who you like, who "doesn't suck"? Pretentious.

You didn't just say you wanted to see Omar more than Wiz, you asked for "awful" things to happen to him and Lil Wayne, like that would somehow magically get The Mars Volta on the lineup. And you obviously didn't pay attention to what I have said in this thread if you think I "obviously love" Wiz
To ncbst3, I don't know any better than to judge an artist by what I hear, regardless of where I hear it. I actually said I like his radio hits better than his most recent release, which was what was so disappointing. I actually like some tracks on there, they are fun but not very innovative. I will look into what you suggested to me but I dont really see why you would say I cant judge him based on what I have heard him put out in the last couple months.

BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
I don't know, he only has one radio hit. I could see him getting Wale's spot, although J. Cole in that spot is more likely. Maybe J.Cole > Wiz?
Wiz/Shpongle/deerhunter closing out the Thursday Night tents!
I think you are severely understating the popularity of Black & Yellow, and he also has Roll Up on the radio which is getting a lot of plays too. Hes much more well known than Wale or J. Cole
Maybe, there's a just a lot of hip/hop this year, and I'm having a hard time deciding where it will all fit. I guess somebody will likely play during the day. Unfortunately, I see that being Atmosphere. J. Cole on Thursday night. Lil' Wayne closing the Which. Eminem headlining obviously. Wiz into Big Boi Late Night Tent Atmosphere a Day-time Tent?
Whoever said wiz was better than j. cole has their head up wiz Khalifas ass, J. cole shits all over wiz lyrically, musically, and live.
Although wiz might be more popular, Slug and J. cole are the ones on the line-up with the real talent, wiz kid is just cashing in on black and yellow which is a terrible song, Atmosphere is a group that has way more notable music&lyrics and j. cole can produce dope beats and spit fluently, Everytime i hear wiz i get that feeling of hatred/disappointment much the same feeling as when i first hear Lupe do his modest mouse rip off, i just say to myself "Sweet, now i get to hear every person i know, who usually has nothing to say about music, talk about how badass black and yellow is and get to listen to the chorus of THE SHOW GOES ON anytime one of these people get a text and/or phone call"
I dont know, I probably sound like a blabbing idiot but these remarks of WIZ>J. Cole hold no water.
I'm SHOCKED to see people saying Wiz > J. Cole. Thats like saying Creed > MMJ lol..
Wiz is all about making money and doing druqs!!! like every other radio rapper. J. Cole actually puts feeling into his songs.
lol 90% of the people in the music industry are about making money and doing NO NO WORD!!!.
True, but, you can only make the same song so many times before that shit gets old and for the past 7-10 years most rap artist have tried cashing in on the same old thing..... I got a bad-ass colored-diamond chain and i just pull off the lot with a brand new bentley.... see what i mean? that could be wiz's new chorus and people would eat that shit up; and im not so naive as to say their have never been good songs about drugs and money and ill bet my money that another great song about the subject will come out and i will love it but it is the point of abusing the subject thus making it just another song about the same ole thing, when you have a album where 80% your talking about the same thing over different beats....well i think you get what i mean........People cashing in on shock value has been abused, i think more artist need to be original and get creative with it instead of the same ole shiiiiit

Im not disagreeing with you but to say Wiz is about money and drugs then you have to point out so is Em, Wayne, Snoop, Dre, hell I cant think of one rapper (outside of real hip hop like the Roots) thats doesnt talk about drugs or cars or any of that at least once.
And honestly I dont know why people outside Pittsburgh like Black and Yellow besides its catchy. Yes he talks about his car and diamonds but tied it into his love for his city. That song was huge here before it even hit the radios so much so that by the time it hit the radio I cringed everytime I heard it. Its like Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" Good song...I didnt feel the connection to it. Im not from New York. You cant blame him for making a catchy radio song -- all artists do. No artist can live off just making mixtapes. Shit Weezy did it for awhile still had to do radio stuff and if you think J Cole didnt have a catchy radio song then Idk what happened to him on Miguel's "All I want is you"
Im 100% agreeing with you on the shit is old though.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
