Still no update from Bonnaroo folks. Ive been harassing Gary... I hope I can get an answer soon. To clarify the bus will be either 49 or 56 depending on what we need and on how many tickets are sold. Right now including some friends who Im holding seats for and who may drop out there are 33 regular priced seats available and the early birds are sold out.
We will be leaving at 5:30 pm and we will have two drivers... that means we will drive straight through and will be getting to Bonnaroo fairly early in the day if all goes as planned. I too want to be their for the first act and so we should hopefully be there for the first show and be able to be setup at our camps for it as well.
***I AM OPEN TO ANY TIPS ON GETTING INTO ROO, GETTING CLOSE TO ROO from any experienced roo goers so dont be bashful!!

The first year I went I flew in and instead of taking the officall Roo shuttle from the airport I took a cheaper one... well long story short they didn't have the credentials to drive right in. However they pulled up to the back gate where the normal shuttles go in and they let us off there as long as we had our bracelets. It was about a mile walk to camping only from there.
I am indeed trying to get in touch with Bonnaroo I will tell you that... still no guarantees but Im willing to pay for the privilege if need be since the bus contract includes the bus coming back to roo daily so people can access the caboose. I just wish I knew what credentials and who to get in touch with they wont respond to me....
This whole thing seems disorganized and last minute.
I think it could really be a good idea, but it needs all of the problems worked out before you start asking for peoples money.
Also how are you going to keep track of everyone? I would hope you have a binder with a manifest in it with everyones personal information. That way no one gets left in Tennessee.
It doesn't seem all that thought out.
I think you need someone a lot more detail oriented to handle the ins and outs of this.
Also, 200 bucks for a bus ticket? That's literally almost as much as it would cost you to fly, only you have to be on a bus for 16 hours as opposed to a plane for 2.
My roundtrip to NYC and back next week thurs-mon was 203$ after fees. In all fairness the shuttle is 60, and it would be nice to be able to bring more stuff with you.
Yeah, but it's a lot less shady taking a plane from a reputable airline, and the official Bonnaroo shuttle.
I just wouldn't trust this because it looks as though whenever a question was asked the answer has been a long the lines of "I hadn't thought of that, let me work on it. In the mean time buy a ticket."
But I do think it's a good idea. Could be a great idea for Bonnaroo to set up. Like have busses set up from some major cities. Then the bus would drop off the people right where the shuttles do and then pick them up on Monday. All the buses will be labled with the city they are heading to so the people know where to go. All of the drivers will have a manifest with a copy of photo ID and personal information so all of the right people get onto the right bus.
I think that would be a better and more reputable way to do it. But having some kids set it up with out knowing all of the ins and outs just have disaster written all over it.
Acutally I took a greayhound bus one year when I was volunteering.
I was able to bungee cord eveything I needed to one of those cart things. I can't remember the name of them but it worked and I didn't have to pay extra for my luggage. It worked out well. But if you're not an experienced camper or festival goer, than this will be difficult to do.

I just don't have a ride down to the festival. There's no way i'm missing Bonnaroo's tenth anniversary so I bought my ticket early. But I'm still figuring out my means of transportation. Figured flying would be too hard to do (money wise and also camping without an ez-up can be brutal).
The bus idea is a good one but I still need more concrete answers/info before committing and spending the money.
Still hoping one of my friends decides to go and we carpool down.
Hey give the guy some credit. This sort of thing isn't easy to organize, experienced or not.
I have to do this every year and there's always a new problem that I've never had to deal with in previous years. It's WAY different than organizing travel for you and a few of your friends, this is a large bus with almost 50 people. There's a huge potential for money loss among other concerns.
Just get the guys phone number, full name, and the name of the bus company to make sure you don't get screwed. Sure it sounds shady, but I run the shadiest sounding Bonnaroo trip of all time (because it sounds too good to be true) and I always prove the newbies/doubters wrong each year.
Oh I don't think it's in any way a scam. I just think it's unorganized with a great potential of failing.
I've always been super organized and plan large vacations every year. So right away looking at this there are about 50 thing I would be doing differently. Things that I know are needed for a large vacation to run smoothly.

Hi Karen,
If you noticed we use eventbrite.com they have an iPhone app that let's me check everyone and keeps the manifest very very organized... Not to mention I have everyone's names printed and will have luggage stickers and name tags for people who want them. I won't leave anyone in Tennessee unless they utterly fail tom follow directions. I'm a programmer by trade and by definition we are pretty detail oriented. I'm saying don't have the answers yet because I haven't been responded to. I'm not trying to say things and then back track on them.
Also, 200 bucks for a bus ticket? That's literally almost as much as it would cost you to fly, only you have to be on a bus for 16 hours as opposed to a plane for 2.
I understand but the bus costs a lot of money and it's a newer model bus and diesel is over 4$ a gallon. Plane wasn't an option for me since I want to bring more stuff. I also fly enough from sf, la to NYC and want to road trip and see the some of america which I have never seen before.
Which is fine. I'm glad that you're thinking of these things. But the things you are waiting on answers are things that should have been questioned months ago before you started telling people about it.
Like I said, i think it's a good idea. But a good idea with a lot of kinks to work out.

I didn't think of going to Bonnarro till 20 days ago about when I started the bus trip. I've started business in under 30 days like LaundryLocal.com and have turned them into successful products... I don't see this being anymore or less difficult than any of the dozens of startups I've started or consulted. Also not to sound arrogant or conceited but ive been in the papers for accomplishments since I was 16. I'll be in the crains new York business magazine April 4 to tell you more of that story...
I am trying to get shuttle bus status from the bonnaroo people.

You might want to re-think posting your phone numbers on a public forum. Maybe just wait for people to ask you for them in private. Do what you want........I just know that you could be opening yourself up for prank calls and such.
And I'm sure those are all wonderful accomplishments.
I just know there are many things I would be doing differently to make things run more smoothly and make everything clear to the people who are putting their trust any money on the line.
Have you ever been to Bonnaroo before? If not it might help to talk to someone who has and they can help you figure out the logistics.
Really the thing is that is that this seems like a money loosing proposition to me. Or something that is going to fall well short of expectations and leave people with a 1 mile or so walk. When I see a startup that does not seem well planned out I am going to worry about my money and whether or not the whole thing will fall through at the last minute leaving me scrambling for plans. There is a reason consider it Dan is as expensive as it is for stuff like this.
I just like how this guy comes across like a pompous d*ckhole. Nobody here really cares about your teenage dreams and your internet startups. You come across like a hyperactive college freshman who think he's found a fresh angle nobody's ever thought of, yet you haven't even completely worked this plan out.
But please, continue to tell us all about your TOTES AWESOME accolades that you're piling up while you try to entice young girls on here to join you on the Rape Bus to Bonnaroo.
Hahahaha. Right. I re-read some this and it does have a certain skeevyness to it.
I'm sure it's legit and he's trying something that could in theory be awesome. But there's no where near enough planning involved.
Especially when this kid just said to himself 20 days ago....Hmm I think I will go to Bonnaroo...in a bus...and I'm going to have other people go too. And it's all going to be fantastic. Logistics be damned.
What you should have done is figure out all of the issues. Make up an inviting presentation with ALL of the details on there. Then start selling tickets. You basically did it all backwards. All of this should have been started months ago. Maybe this would better if it was something you could work on and set up next year.
But the way you're going about this now....well you can't blame people for doubting or asking questions.
And something that has an I-phone app isn't winning any points with me.
Hey I'm happy to answer questions and I hope people are mature enough to not prank call me on that note though I'll edit that and give a different number... Not trying to sound like an a hole and I am just saying have a little faith in me and let me work it out... We have over 70 days till the trip and I am working on this everyday... I'm also running bus's to the phish bethel show as of now, so I'm pretty on top of this... I hope that people do ask questions!! It will help me think of things if I have not already thought of ..... This is the first time I'm organizing this bus and so I'm sure there will be critical moments but as a daily decision maker and strategist I think we will make it there just fine.... No need to be rude and start name calling...
Good to know thank you! So if the bus is meeting at 5:30pm. Realistically people will be ready to leave latest 6-6:30pm (nobody is ever on time). We would arrive around Noonish on Thursday latest? Did I calculate that right? It has been a long day, so sorry if I am off!

I don't understand why people are being so critical of this guy's idea.. If you don't like, or don't think it will work, then don't do it? What he's doing isn't much different then what other people are doing on this thread as well.. just trying to work out rides. I don't think he's even remotely coming off as a d*ck. He's trying to answer people's questions respectfully and even said "not to sound arrogant or conceited.."
I think this is a really good idea, and that kinks could definitely be worked out in the upcoming months.. I mean he must be doing something right if people have been buying it. I'm definitely going to look into it. I love the idea of being able to suggest places to stop on the way there and back, and claiming time slots to be DJ.. sounds like a party
Question: I think I read that we would be arriving back in NY by 2am on monday.. Does this mean we would be missing Sunday acts? I think that would be an issues for some people or maybe I'm just speaking for myself.
