Damn dude! You should have stocked up last time you were here! It's like $6.99 a six pack here......But yeah NOLA has the BEST prices on Abita since it's a local brew....
Nope, 6 pack of Bud across the street for $5.50, a 6 of good beer is $9 or $10
Abita is just an anomaly here, Keyfood is the only store I've ever seen it in. But I would never pay that much for beer in a supermarket.
Keyfood on Grand by any chance? That's where I used to buy beer. They had 12 packs of PBR for 6.99 for awhile, but I think they eventually raised them to 7.99. It was still the best deal I could find outside of 40s.
I loved living in New York, and there are plenty of things I miss, but buying beer is not one of them.

Yup, that's the one! I'm in there at least twice a week
I don't really buy beer there though, Walgreens is much closer to my apartment, and there is an actual beer distributor about 4 blocks away... or, a dozen or so bodegas of course. 24 OZ cans of Bud or Tecate for $1.75 is my standard. Though you can get 24 OZ Coors in the gold can for $1.25 and Pabst is 99 cents... but not a big Coors fan, and I HATE Pabst
We'll see.....I still think VooDoo will come up with the best lineup. And NOLA??? Really? Is there a better place to have a festie? I don't think so! ;D
You could make the case for TV On the Radio being a preheadliner and the Racs being a headliner. For a Voodoo audience, I would think they would be about on par with MMJ in terms of popularity.
raconteurs is my number one band to see now. loved them in 08! with my wedding a month before voodoo, i'll probably only be going one of the three days. two tops... i really hope that the raconteurs, portugal. the man, odd future, dr john, bloody beetroots, lost bayou ramblers, and tv on the radio (as well as some great djs) play on sunday. friday i might be at voodoo, but otherwise i will probably be at the mortuary or house of shock (two local haunted houses). saturday i have to drive to mississippi of all god-forsaken places to a tiny southern baptist church wedding, but going to have a fantastic halloween block party that saturday night. (you guys should definitely come) and sunday, if raconteurs are there, we are going to be at sunday of voodoo

jakicker- Being from NOLA, do you of know any cool places to stay off the trolley line or close to Frenchman? Could be a condo/apt./hotel. Keep us posted on the block party. Easymorningrebel & myself would be up for for some post-fest revelry in the streets.

The Historic French Market Inn is a few blocks from Frenchman and has reasonably low prices. Those prices may go up during the Halloween weekend. I stayed there for $80 a night before through hotels.com.
Just don't be so quick to book something down Canal or in the quarter. That's not too close to Voodoo, and the real party on Halloween in nola is not on Bourbon but on Frenchmen.
Frenchmen is not too far off from the quarter, but idk, I hate dealing with all of that downtown. That's just me though
it is four blocks from frenchmen, has a bar/restaurant downstairs that is very much the new orleans/marigny experience as well as a little liquor store, across the street from mimi's in the marigny (bar), and SURPRISE SUPRISE there is a giant balcony covering the entire top of the building. we partied on frenchmen and then came back to the balcony for after party. it only has a handful of rooms, as most bed and breakfasts seem to have, but if yall get to it quick you can maybe book all the balcony rooms together for a great late late after party
whoreshack, this is a place i recommended month or so ago, and i think its perfect. its walking distance (like four blocks) to frenchmen street, which means its technically walking distance to the quarter also. i sometimes take the streetcar to bourbon, go to decatur for some pravda time, and then end up on frenchmen for the real fun (or all vice versa) at least once every two weeks, so it can easily be done.
as far as getting to voodoo, if one of you doesnt mind driving from the hotel to get to voodoo, you can honestly park on any street that is a few blocks from city park and be fine. its a fifteen minute walk from my house, but we drove about 8 blocks closer last year so that it would only be a 3 minute drive haha. if you dont want to do that, you can always cab it there for less than 15 bucks.

There is an Inforooster that works at a hotel on Frenchmen....hopefully he will post or you can look at last year's thread and find it. I always do Marriot Canal just cause it's convenient to the Quarter and there is a trolley stop right in front of the hotel!
