Really looking forward to this again. Last year was the inaugural year for this fest that's held in the same park as Pitchfork. I'd have to say for a first year fest, overall it was very well run. Other than a couple issues regarding tickets before it began, everything was pretty smooth. It was not crowded at all (other than beer lines), security wasn't an issue, the weather was great and you get Labor Day off to recover. 3-day passes are up $20, but it's still only $95 for the weekend.
And I got to see Flying Lotus live, which in my opinion (and others I talked to), was the best set of the fest.

The line-up was pretty awesome last year.. Would've loved to see Flying Lotus. I'll most likely be attending this year because I'm moving to Chicago right around that time. I can't wait to see who's gonna be there!
I went last year but only one day. I was dragged by my ex and it wasnt the best time due to other reasons but the fest wasnt to bad. Prices of food and beer wasnt that bad. Ill only go this year if they have a line up that I HAVE to see or I get dragged again by some pretty girl.
Anybody else grab the discounted $45 groupon for a 3-day pass last night? Last year they messed up and offered the groupon a couple months after initial ticket sales. This year they got it right and offered it as a presale. Also, they announced 6 initial artists:
Thievery Corporation Common Neon Indian Wiz Khalifa Lotus Little Dragon
Four more are announced tomorrow. Some of the rumored acts are: David Guetta Bassnectar Fatboy Slim STS9 Rusko

Got mines last night! Last years fest was my favorite musical experience to date, and I believe that speaks volumes. I've Been to Roo each year since 06, Lolla 08 and countless other shows. Neways, what I'm saying is, if ya like to party your ass off, go to this fest!
Grabbed two tics on Groupon. Went last year and it was one of the festival highlights of the year for me. Great setting, well run and a lot of great music: I have to echo that Flying Lotus comment.

I cant wait to see how immense this festival becomes within a couple years. For it being in the same place, this beats the Leno out of Pitch Fork. For the price, it's more fun than Lollapalooza without 150 indie bands clogging up everything causing crazy schedule conflicts. Last year was an amazing time, and this line-up is looking to be ridiculous when it's finished. I'd love for them to bring back Nas again for a solo set. I think they need another big hip hop act or two like they did last year. The guys who book all of the hip-hop shows at the Congress Theater are the ones who run this festival so it's obviously possible. They sold the hell out of that Wu Tang show a few months ago, if they booked them for this I'd expect a massive turnout, especially since they are kind of owed a Raekwon appearance since he pulled out of that show last minute.
I bought two tix on Groupon as well. Great deal. I have a feeling the prices are gunna go up next year if they want to keep topping themselves. $45 for that entire weekend experience is RIDICULOUS.

Does anyone know when the full line up comes out? I picked up the Groupon tickets also. I wanted to go last year so bad, but I just started a new job and I don't think they would have approved of me taking the first weekend off to go to a music festival.
^ They commented on someone's post on their facebook page and said next round of artists May 1st. Then the majority of the lineup will be out "juneish"
Very nice! I've always wanted to see Of Montreal in a live setting. Now I'll have the chance. I'm not so excited about seeing Bassnectar because he's everywhere this summer, but Fatboy Slim and Major Lazer make me very, very happy. This is a good start, but I'd still like to see some jam added.
First post updated with the 'almost' full line-up. According to their facebook, they'll be announcing 3 more main stage acts and then the "toast of the coast" contest winners. Then that's it.

I've not seen or heard anything regarding the schedule. I did hear they are going to release some more late nights tomorrow. As for a Gogol-Bassnectar conflict, I share the same sentiment. That would be tough.

Second round of aftershows. All are at The Mid. Has anyone ever been there? They always seem to bring in a good crowd of guest DJs. However, I work in the industry and I heard that the door guys are a bunch of stuck up pricks. That's not a good thing for a club that is literally in the middle of no where, and difficult to get to on public transit, and also pretty difficult to get home from in a taxi.
* Friday 9/2/2011 – Wolfgang Gartner w/ SBTRKT * Saturday 9/3/2011 – Carl Cox w/ Green Velvet * Sunday 9/4/2011 – ATB

I've been there a couple times and yeah the door guys and security are kind of dicks. I think the place itself is actually pretty cool and a good venue for all the DJs they book. The problem is they try to be both a music venue and a nightclub and that doesn't really work. I've had fun each time I went but I know people that have said they'll never go back and I know some that continue to go all the time.
I'm contemplating between that Carl Cox aftershow and Diplo at the Congress

They haven't announced the timeslots yet, but if it's set up like last year, the last shows on Sunday should look something like:
North Stage 8:30-10:00 - Bassnectar
Groupon Stage 7:30-8:30 - Thievery/Gogol
Coast Stage 8:30/9:00-10:00 - Thievery/Gogol
So there's a chance you'll be able to see both Bassnectar and Gogol
