been scouring the boards for a couple weeks now, great info, helping me prepare for my first roo. couple quick questions:
1) lucky enough to have a friend who scored us VIP camping, non-RV. i'm arriving thursday afternoon, i know the entrance assignments are randomized based off of traffic flow at that given time but is there any point in the entry process where you show the VIP wristband or whatever and are directed to a set entrance regardless of traffic? does it minimize processing time? or are you only directed to VIP once inside all checkpoints/ticket areas?
2) my friend arrives fri morning, she'll be taking the shuttle from nashville airport. i see that the drop-off is right next to the VIP camping area. i'll probably have her pass on me. does the shuttle drop-off outside of the venue (i'd imagine it has to as not everyone who flies in may have their tickets on them)? if outside of the venue, is it in an area where i can get to it/her and pass her ticket over? or would she theoretically then have to walk to an entrance?
thanks much.
1) VIP has a separate entrance. Do NOT get in the GA lines. Directions to the entrance should be included with your paperwork. 2) I am under the impression that you have to have your festival pass in addition to the shuttle pass to get on the shuttle, but I am not sure at all. Do you know for sure, crazykittensmile?
If you're just trying to avoid BFE, just get in line later on Wednesday. I am not sure when the cutoff was last year though.
I think that's the plan. We'll be at a hotel off exist 114 and will chill there until they kick us out, then likely hang out at the waffle house or something. I plan to keep checking inforoo as people post which pods are filling up to get an idea of when BFE should be full. My understanding is that they fill BFE starting Wednesday afternoon ahead of the "official" gate opening at 8pm. So it stands to reason that by 8pm they will have filled BFE. If I find out via posts here on inforoo that it's full before then, I'll just hop in line somewhere nearby that exit.
Hopefully the people behind me won't be too pissed if I hope in line right off the exit, but I'll give them a few beers as an apology.

not saying you won't be able to access it at all, but I've had problems in the past with phone service and/or access to phone calls/texts/web.
Also, I'm not positive that they will let you in line from that exit if there is a line. Sorry to bear all of the possible bad news, just thought you should be aware, if you weren't already.

That has been the case before, but maybe give the shuttle people a call and explain your situation? If you are able to meet your friend at the shuttle drop-off with her wristband it may be okay. Last year they put on and scanned in everyone's wristband as we were getting off the shuttle. But they may require it to be on your wrist now that they are having everyone put it on beforehand.

Well, either they let us in line from that exit or we go around to whatever entrance, I guess the point being that we'll be very close and we'll get in line wherever around 7:30-8pm that night. Apparently by then they have filled up BFE throughout the day.

thank you very much for your responses. i think it's a bit of a different situation for me/us because she is a journalist and will be getting media credentials, but apparently she won't hear until 48 hours ahead of time the instx on picking her pass up (same with mine). not a concern for me as my pass will be waiting at a local hotel i just have to go retrieve it and follow the instx to VIP parking i guess, but for her she'll have to navigate the shuttle without it. coordinating to ensure i can pick up her passes and then meet her at shuttle drop off.

thx again.
Yeah I think media credentials are different for sure, since you can't get it ahead of time
I don't know if that radio station is still the pick up for those passes, but they have dropped people off there from the shuttle before. So they may do that for her. Also back when I did media one year they did not let someone else pick up your wristband, so you may want to check on that as well.
In 2011 we arrived at around 5am ish Thursday am. I don't remember the exact wait time but probably 4 or so hours. Got sent on a crazy route along bushy branch rd by the fuzz to enter through the East tollbooth and to camp in Camp Stewie Griffin (in the horrible heat that year!)...yuck In 2012 we arrived at probably 8pm weds night and got sent along Bushy Branch Rd back to the East Tollbooth again. Wait time was extremely shorter than 2011 and got put in Camp George McFly by Pod2. I don't think we could have asked for a better spot (right by the Jive Joint, where we spent many late nights)! This year: Hoping to get in around 7-8ish again Weds night and hope for the best. I've learned that it's almost impossible to get in off of I-24 (well at least for me, had some super angry fuzz yell at us both years). I'm just hoping that the early arrival time will keep us out of Stewie Griffin or super BFE! That was the worst!

Just curious if anyone has ever hated their spot so much that they chose to turn around and leave in hopes of getting a better spot at a later time? I'm sure that the staff tries to prevent this but I know someone has had 'an emergency' where they needed out ASAP.

The whole worry about being put in BFE, does this just apply to people arriving by car? We'll be arriving on foot (somehow! still haven't figured out how)around 7pm on Wednesday. Are we guaranteed entry into Tent Only?

I don't think there is any way that this would really work? It would be almost impossible to get out of the gates due to the heavy traffic coming in (it's basically one way traffic due to space) and who knows how long you would sit back in line outside the gates again.

I would think so since the Camp Inforoo thread (link) states that they are going to get setup underway Wednesday evening. wolfmanjess, you got a definite answer for him?
Okay I read through this entire thread and didn't see what I was looking for, it may be a silly question.
We're first timers and will be arriving Thursday early morning probably 2am, maybe earlier. I'm not really concerned with where we will be parked at since it seems to be a crap shoot from what I've read. My only concern is will there be lights on around the camping areas so we can see to set the tents up? Or should be wait until daylight?

There are generator driven streetlights throughout the campground, but they are sporadic, so you don't know how much they will help you at your site. I would suggest headlamps and setting stuff up once beforehand, so it'll be easier to do it in low light.

Awesome, thanks! We did a trial run with the tent last night so I'm thinking we will be okay, just wanted to make sure.

Its best to set up right away or at the very least stake out your area with tarps. If you dont claim your area you may find your available space is limited. Best to bring headlamps or lanterns etc. Most likely there will be some light from the generator lights they have set up but be prepared in case your in a darker area. Your going to have a blast.

So in past years I've always assumed that when you arrive has no real bearing on where you will be put. But I keep reading more and more people saying that it is indeed true that they fill up BFE Wednesday night... Anyone want to comment? I've always arrived Thursday morning, and was probably going to do the same this year. Just curious though.

Yeah, BFE gets filled up first so they can use the road for last minute Centeroo prep, medical team access and VIP entrance Thursday morning without interruption. Same reason for the Quarantine.

Huh, never knew that. So I really am better off being patient and heading in Thursday morning?

Just don't head in first thing Wednesday night. I don't really know when the cutoff would be, but getting set up and ready to go Wednesday night (even if it is late) is too nice to pass up.

The one year my group went in Wed night ('09) we got put in the camps way past the smaller entrance to the What stage. Every year since I've arrived between 7-10am Thursday and got decent a spot.
I was thinking about going in on Wed this year because the extra night of fun would be nice, but I'd much rather put myself in a better position to get a good camp spot. Last year we arrived around 10 or so, waited in line for like 15 minutes, then got put in a spot that was only like a 5 minute walk away.
Hey, I was just wondering if I'll need my ID to get in? I lost it last week and have yet to get a replacement
I believe you'll need an ID only if you want to be drinking in Centeroo. If you're a youngin' with a bunch of other youngins, though, they may check to make sure everybody's at least 18.

You still have time to get one. Just in case. If you are only a bit over 21 and want a drink in Centeroo, you will need it. If anything unexpected happens, you may want it to avoid any hassles that could put a damper on your weekend. You probably won't need it at the gate, but if you look you are in your teens and won't be with your parents, go get one. If you are 50 and not driving, wait as long as you want to get a new ID.

Sorry if this has been asked, If I am carpooling do I just let the people directing traffic and campsites that we are carpooling and need more camp space or do we just get the 10x10 we always get for all four of us?
