Sorry if this has been asked, If I am carpooling do I just let the people directing traffic and campsites that we are carpooling and need more camp space or do we just get the 10x10 we always get for all four of us?
Your campsite is determined by # of cars, not number of people. 1 campsite per car.

Thank you, I have always just rode in with one other person and only needed one plot but this year we are going to try and carpool as many as we can but have more tents then room for if we do. I am just ready to pull through the toll-booth.
So we are arriving pretty late.. Probably won't get to the gate until 2-3pm on Thursday. Any ideas for what this means for our parking situation in terms of wait time/location? There's no chance that we will be totally out of luck without a spot is there?
We have friends that can get to the gate around 11am-noon on Thursday but then we wouldn't be near eachother and we're kind of a small group and would like to keep ourselves together obviously. Advice from veteran roo'ers would be greatly appreciated!

You will definitely have a spot, although I would anticipate having a decent walk to Centeroo. Last year wait times were almost nonexistent after the first rush (and even then weren't bad), however past years have had nightmare waits so it is hard to tell.

I sent an Email to Roo before you responded and I got this reply, just thought it might help others. I plan on printing it and bringing it with us in the car just to show the people moving traffic. Just wanted to share
"Hi Jacob,
Thanks for getting in touch. Camping is arranged based on the time at which you arrive to the festival. If you arrive in line with everyone you wish to camp with, you will be camped next to those people. Carpoolers with four or more people in a car are eligible for extra camping space. We are working with our personnel to coordinate this, but please communicate with the parking attendants as you arrive, as it can be difficult to see how many people are in each car.

That's nice of them to do, but it would have been way nicer for them to tell people aside from those that inquired by email as many are packing based off what has happened in previous years.
So I'm going to be checking in at coffee county high school for the vendor check in. I'll be coming from Chattanooga... My directions are to get off at exit 114, take 41 to 55 then go left for 2 miles to the high school. Will exit 114 be completely shut down?

Usually those local exits are closed to festival traffic, but probably only concerns GA and other attendees.

The last two years I've rolled in around 2-4pm on Thursday and have never waited in traffic to get into the campground. In 2011, we wound up around Pod 8 after entering the West Tollboth. Last year we were in Luke Skywalker around Pod 6 after coming in from the highway. Both were pretty great spots with minimal walks to Centeroo, but it's certainly a crap shoot of where you'll wind up depending on when everyone gets there.
We'll be arriving in an hour or two and will be staying with our groop in groop camping but we're over the car limit and ours is the car that doesn't have the groop camping pass despite us paying for it.... looks like we'll be in BFE and we'll have to walk our shit over to our groop in GC!!!!! >.<

Hey guys! I'm heading up to Chattanooga tonight to pick up a friend, and then we're headed in together. It's about 1 hour from her place to Manchester. We're trying to peg a good time to get over there in order to have a prime car-camping spot. We figure that going in tonight will put us squarely in BFE/ James Bond. But we don't want to be late tomorrow, wait in line for five hours, and get shoved into BFEx/ Family Guy & LOST.
Do you think the crowd this year will be large enough to fill up BFE and start filling the closer camps by 8 am tomorrow? If we're in line around 8:30 am should we be able to simultaneously avoid the lines AND the bad camps? Answers from the experienced would be of great assistance...
Anybody have an idea of when BFE filled up last year
We got in Wednesday night as soon as it was getting dark and ended up in BFE a few rows before it was full. One of the best locations imo. Get to walk through the main stage every time you go in and have a forest to pee in. It kind of sucks for Thursday before the BFE entrance opens and the fact you cant wander the entire campground on the first night but I think it's a great spot. Better than a dusty road out in the middle of nowhere like my first year haha. You also get to hear the main acts warming up in the morning pretty clearly (Paul, Jack Johnson covering Mumford, and all that jazz). Sort of hoping for the same spot next year if we don't do Groop Camp.
This will be my first Roo where I'm not working in some capacity, just as an attendee - What's the consensus on the absolute best time to arrive, real estate wise? I'm spoiled on not having to walk from all across creation

Redisni, it really is random. The last 4 years we arrived between 3-5 am on Wendsday night/Thursday morning and ended up with a great camping spot right near shakedown street. This year we aren't taking any chances and we are going VIP. I'm also getting a little old for staying up all night to on Wednesday night, it just wipes me out for the rest of the weekend.
Now you better be giving me solid information on Jack White or I will be upset with you .

The first people in go to BFE. After that, who knows? If you look hard enough, you will probably find somebody who swears each time is the best and worst time to arrive.

It also totally depends on where you care entering from too. In my post a few spots up - we are coming from 24 North (Nashville), get off on exit 114 and enter in the West entrance.
Someone made a thread about 2013 arrivals and how it worked out in regards to where you ended up in GA. It's hard to link on a smartphone, but it's there if you search.

That was my general belief that you ended up in BFE but last year I drove through the security gate around 6:ish on Wed. and we got parked in Pod 3, not bad at all, and I'm prretty sure they hadn't filled BFE yet. In 12 I was parked around 5:30 on Wed. and detained in BFE. I remember it being almost 10pm and they were still filling the area in. It truly is a random luck of the draw IMO.

We arrived about midnight, maybe 1 am (getting fuzzy now).
We were right outside the fence for rv parking, a 2 minute walk to the side entrance to the festival grounds. Was quicker to hit the portos next to the other stage, then to walk to the portos on the far side of the parking area.
I did have my wife's bag stolen, but found it the next morning, minus the chex mix

As others have said here, it is really hard to determine exactly what will happen from year to year. My story:
2010 - Got into Manchester from the North around 9AM, waited in line for 8+ hours, was sent all over creation and eventually camped in Pod 10. Bad experience getting in (due mainly to the torrential rains Wednesday night, I think), but had plenty of space at least. First time at Roo for all four in my group, so there was a LOT we were naive about (shade, sunscreen) but still had a blast.
2011 - Arrived Wednesday in hopes of avoiding any 2010-esque fiasco. Chilled at a cool state park up the road for a couple hours until we could get in the East gate on Bushybranch again, around 4-5PM. Very little line, didn't take long to get in and to our camp. Got a great spot with shade in Pod 2 and tons of space, and had a blast.
2012 - Tried to repeat 2011. It worked! No line whatsoever. Camped in the same area of Pod 2, maybe 100 yards closer to Centeroo, and on the end of a row with more space than we could possibly have used. Had a blast.
2013 - My crew couldn't go so I went solo, arriving in the late afternoon/early evening of Wednesday again. Got sent past a partially-filled Pod 2 straight to a spot near the far end of BFE. What are the chances of going to an event with 80,000 people and being surrounded by 15 of the rudest, loudest, most annoying A-holes on the whole farm? I don't know the answer, but it happened. Couldn't get to Tent Only in time to pitch a tent by some acquaintances I had camped near previously, and hated the mud and walk from BFE. I will go to great lengths to avoid BFE in 2014, perhaps including splitting up the group upon entering to increase our odds of getting a good spot somewhere. We've had 3 cars due to coming from different places three times and might have 4-5 this year, so that could work.Still had a blast.
So who knows what entrance strategy is best? Some people love BFE, and getting there super early (and entering from the highway?) might tend to get you in there, but I'd rather avoid Pod 1. It seems they tweak the system each year, making it even more of a crap shoot.
I am a little concerned because I do not want to be put in BFE but was planning on arriving Thursday morning around 6:00 am. Is this too early? I wanted to arrive this early because I figured we would be waiting in line a long time anyways.
Last year, we pulled into Bonnaroo and parked around 6:45-7 am on Thursday morning. My walk to centeroo was maybe 10 minutes at most. I was really close. I don't know if I got lucky, or they just started filling in from back to front and so many people got there before us.
In my experience the last couple of years, BFE is usually filled up before it gets too late/early on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Im really not a fan of BFE camping, was stuck there in 2012, and I want to try and do my best to avoid it.

This is the first year I'll be going General Admission, and I was trying to figure out the best time to get a spot if Groop Camping doesn't work out for whatever reason. Looking through this thread it seems like I should go late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. Does that sound about right or is there a time you think is best?
Exact times and places escape me, due to the overwhelming excitement of my first Bonnaroo(2013) and escape from the doldrums of Florida, but I remember leaving Murfreesboro between 6-7 P.M. on Wednesday. We took back roads into Manchester, since we were all from the Boro and knew the shortcuts (or thought we did anyway). I am pretty sure we still went through the main entrance. I have no idea what time we actually got to the tollbooths, if I had to guess around 10-11 pm. We wound up in Marty McFly/George McFly, can't really remember, but it was right across from RV parking and not far at all from centeroo. I don't know if I'm adding to confusion or not, but I hope we can all head out again at the same time this year and see if there is a science behind it.

I'm thinking of just doing car camping this year, TO is too stressful for me. Does anyone know if you can claim an extra space to camp with the parking people if you have more than 4 people in your car?
