Are there any volunteers in need of a ride down to the festival? I live in northern VA so I can pick up anyone in the DC area or on the way down. I'm not sure if I'll be driving a mini van or a smaller station wagon so I can only offer 3 spaces for sure. I don't really want to drive 11 hours by myself.
ooh! ...What if all 3 of us were in a minivan? Or even a station wagon is probably bigger than a Civic, right?
I'm ridin with zacd thanks to here. We all needa be there tuesday. We've got a hotel reserved for Mon night though in McMinnville. Leaving Monday morning 10am or so, as of now...
Where in nova are you? I'm near Tysons and he's in Herndon...
Did you request during fest or toll booth? If you wanted, we could all combine and camp together. Thing is, we both requested toll booth BUT you can change to toll booth until tomorrow/Monday morning 10am, the 16th.
Volunteering with my friend. Our check in date is June 7th. In definite need for a ride down. Willing to split gas/food cost.
friends with wickystyx, I'm assuming? from College Park? hmm... would friends be bringing down gear or you'd bring it all? and what shift did you guys request?
From College Park but not friends with wickystyx yet. First time attendee and volunteer. My friend Gaby and I will probably bring some gear. We'll be meeting friends down there. We signed up to volunteer during the festival. At this point, just trying to figure out how we'll get rides down there.
oh alright. Hi Natalie! Sorry for jumping to conclusions. Just found it ironic you guys are the same age and posted a day apart. (Yeah, I liked the "yet" added on too! )
it might be a bit full for us at this point but I'll keep in touch if we can make it work... Havent heard from wickystyx yet (it's only been a day and I'll go ahead and send her a PM) but if she can have more room to pack by bringing a minivan or station wagon maybe, we might be able to make it work. The cheaper, the better (as long as we can all fit with our gear).
If we dont ride with her, unless we have someone else use a bigger car, then it's not really gonna work to have 4 people. we need the back seat partially down and I already know I have a bunch of gear to add to his pictured here: bonnaroo.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=logistics&action=display&thread=25463
Are any of you guys able to leave Monday morning to head down? I already have a hotel booked for Monday night in McMinnville TN, but if we have all of us go together, you guys could rent an additional room. Only $55... or use our airbeds maybe.
Toll boothers dont camp in the same area, but we might be able to help you haul your stuff to the regular camping area or hopefully drop stuff off for you guys and then we go park. Toll boothers have to be checked-in by 4pm. During fest by 8pm.
Another heads up that you can change your preference/application info until tomorrow at 10am. Toll booth is done by Friday 6pm, so thats why i prefer that (and have to check in on Tues still anyway).
P.S. My facebook is www.facebook.com/ealikkhani if you want to keep in touch through there if it's easier for you
You know, it seems like there are more volunteers looking to rideshare this year. I wonder if it would make sense to create a sub-board just for that? (Or at least keep this thread alive, going forward.)
Sorry I haven't responded until now! I was graduating this weekend so things were pretty busy. Also totally thought I'd somehow get an email when someone responded...whoops
Now that I know people are interested I'll discuss with my parents which car I can take for the trip. Knowing them they'll feel better with us in the mini van. That means 4 people + stuff max.
I know some people in the Blacksburg/Roanoke region so I was thinking about stopping there for the night on Monday then continuing on the morning of the 7th. Although I should probs double check there'll be a place to stay...
nramir818 - It's my first time attending/volunteering as well! Maybe we should have a first timers car
I contemplated stopping in Blacksburg too (I graduated from Tech but have yet to visit since then) but I figured get all the driving over with and not wake up as early on Tuesday, and I think it's about half an hour away from 81 if I remember correctly, so it'd add an hour to the total drive time. (I definitely plan to grab some food at Macado's at possible. Found out there are 2 that are a lot more on the way, like 1 in Marion VA and another in Bristol TN.) I originally thought we had to check in by 2pm and since we need time to do food/last minute shopping, then I figured getting a hotel was best. (No way I would leave at 2am or something crazy) Apparently we dont need to be there until 4pm, but I still like the hotel idea. There's a sort of stress relief of knowing you're nearby and not having to worry about unforeseeable traffic or something. Blacksburg is unfortunately at least 8 hours away still.
It sounds like it's more realistic that me and zacd stick with our plan and maybe the 3 of you (wickystyx, nramir818 and friend Gaby) could maybe rideshare? woulda loved to get a nice group together though.
And yeah, inforoo is a bit confusing to get used to, and I don't know why we dont get emails when we at least get private messages. You can bookmark threads, and what I do is on my internet browser, I bookmarked the bookmarks page (which you can get to if you click on the Profile link). Then, I just periodically check in to see if any bookmarked threads have new posts and if I have any new messages.
Hit a small roadblock today. I might not be able to take one of our cars down to the festival. Both cars are really old so my mom feels a bit uneasy with me taking it down to Manchester. This may be her being super cautious so I'll see what my dad says tonight and will hopefully have a solid yes or no by tomorrow.
You're from Mclean? I live really close to you then... about 5 miles apart maybe. I'm 2 miles down from Tysons off of Gallows Rd. Good luck with the car approval!
We'd probably be able to fit 1 more person in our car if we share supplies like my tent, cooler, EZ Up, etc. Again, we'd be leaving 10am or so on Monday morning from my house. If anyone here now or in the future sees this and needs a ride to get in on Tues by 4pm and willing to stay the night in McMinnville TN (about 30-40 mins from Roo), feel free to message me or zacd. I can't guarantee we'd have room, but if we plan well and pack well, it might work.
So Gaby is arriving from an entire year of studying abroad in Tajikistan this Tuesday. I'll check with her and see where we are with this whole ride thing. We're during festival volunteers. We could take the metro and meet wherever we leave from. I'll keep checking this thread.
I've been really busy too but I'm just counting the days until bonaroo. Its a graduation gift to myself My e-mail is chilena06@hotmail.com
So I'm really late on the uptake here. This will only be my second Roo experience and I haven't used the threads before, but I'm gonna be doing the same thing as most of you.
I have to check in on Tuesday the 7th between 10am and 8pm (I'm thinking I'm a during show volunteer, although I did request tollbooths). I'm originally from the middle of PA, but I'm staying in DC for the summer. The weekend of the 4th I'll be coming back to DC with a car from my brother's graduation party in PA so I can 1) pick up peeps who cannot fit in the aforementioned cars and 2) hopefully caravan with you lovely Roo-ers.
I cannot remember what kind of car it is offhand, but it has a lot of trunk space. It's like a Toyota camry, but I think it's the Ford version >_< I'm so bad with naming cars derp. I just know that I cannot possibly drive 14 hours, more or less, all by my lonesome and would love some company. I'll be meeting some friends who aren't volunteers at the festival, but they're all flying. Any advice or information would be awesome! I'd love to ride with yall ^_^
To Ellie and zacd, I can definitely ride with yall on Monday and wouldn't mind splitting costs and that hooplah. Hope this can work. Again, sorry that this is so belated!

check your email if you got notified of toll booth notification. we just got it about an hour ago.
I just had a girl workin for Clean Vibes email me 2 days ago, I think, and I told her we had room for her ...but... we're worried about space, so maybe you guys can share and not worry as much. She said she was willing to walk from our area to where she needs to be in CV and only has a hiking backpack since they provide her with accomodations. It's only a one-way ride though since she stays after the fest. You're both 20 too
I also know a girl who was in Richmond that was looking for a ride too that posted in here and/or the regular dc/md/va thread.
Got the ok from my parents to take the van down to the festival. So I can still take 3 people besides myself down.
I still don't know what route I'm taking since I also recently found out that none of my friends in the Blacksburg area have room for guests. I might hop on the bandwagon and head down on Monday and stay in a hotel nearby overnight.
I'm half tempted for all of us to caravan down... lol (or at least meet up at hotel or somethin *shrugs*)
America's Best Value Inn in McMinnville. I got a AAA discount at $55. I think $60 if not AAA. it's cheap so nothing real fancy and there are mixed reviews, but checkout's not til noon and they provide free breakfast and have a pool and whatnot. I'm even thinking if they have ice machines, we can sneak some free ice into our coolers, haha
wickystyx, did you ever talk to the other 2 girls that were looking for rides down that posted earlier? there's them and then the girl i talked to (suprosiehan) and Carol that just posted (cfelicio). I wonder if with your van and our car, if we can fit everyone. we have a bunch of gear in the Civic, so even having a 3rd person in our car may be tight, but I'm wondering if there's another way for everyone to not be cramped and whatnot.
as a heads up if you didnt already realize: Manchester's 1 hour behind us. so their noon is our 1pm.
oh, and anyone else toll booth? cause we can camp next to each other too...or if ridesharing make it work so the tollbooth volunteers are together at least so there's less hassle since we camp in a different location and whatnot near the west tollbooth near day parking, i think. (upper left on a map)
Hey guys, I'm from the Maryland area but can meet up anywhere in the DMV area. Anyone who's planning to arrive on the 7th in Tennessee have room for one more person? Willing to split costs/driving of course. Also, first time volunteer here. Thanks!
I would be willing to carpool with you from DC if you could get there by Sunday, the 5th, or early on Monday. I would like to stay over in that America's Best Value Inn in McMinnville with Ellie and zacd (in another room though). I think it would be good to meet up and or caravan with people who already know their way around. If you split gas and driving with me, I would be really gracious. My email is cfelicio@gwmail.gwu.edu and once we start a convo over email we can exchange more info!
Hello everybody! I am not patient enough to read through every single post so i am posting my info. Please contact me if I can be of service. Im from Rockville MD. I have a car, Chevy Cavalier, Manual. If i can get two others to ride with me I will drive n we can all split gas. If you are looking for one more person to ride I will split gas n driving with you. I am a during festival volunteer, i need to be there tuesday 12-8pm or i applied for late check in on Wednesday by noon. my email is s.newman1290@gmail.com or cell is 240-643-0206. I look forward to hearing from many of you, especially the pretty girls as i am a handsome man single 20 yr old
you're a cheeky Leno. and i mean that in the most joking of senses.
^so I tried typing in bast-ard/basterd and the message board switched it to Leno^ hahahaha
I'm from DC and am trying to carpool a few people because I will be driving my family's car down from PA on Sunday the 5th, so far one person has reached out to me and I could fit one more person (possibly you, seeing as you're from rockville). I think that could work, feel free to message me or email me at cfelicio@gwmail.gwu.edu
I want to kinda take charge and make sure I know what everyone's doing and has a ride, but I already feel confused, haha...
Let me know if you guys want to get an adjacent room or caravan. as of now, i guess it's me, my ride (his car), and another girl that we gotta squeeze in if someone doesnt have more room. I'm kind of a big overpacker.
I'm definitely interested in getting a caravan together and staying Monday night at the hotel. suprosiehan said she could meet us somewhere along the way on 81. I'm waiting to hear back from nramir818 about what she and her friend want to do.
Depending on how much people riding with me are bringing, we may be able to fit extra gear in my car.
Is there a way we can all talk in 1 place? a Facebook group or something?? It'd be good then cause then we can all Facebook friend each other and keep in touch for local events and future Roos and whatnot too...and put a face to the name, know the person isn't sketchy, etc.
Plus, I'm not sure how many people check this as religiously as I do, haha
If we work this out well (although I'm super surprised people committed to volunteer and are just now searching for rides. I wouldnt have driven that far alone or by bus.) ...then we can maybe sort the cars based on where people are volunteering. Toll boothers camp separately than during fest. Clean Vibes in a different area, I'm sure. Some people (3 total at this point? ramir, her friend, and Rosie) only need 1 way so also think whether or not you'd end up driving up alone. We can try and plan to make this work so that everyone has a ride but also not driving alone and paying more for gas costs.
If I see people do that, I could try to make an event page or write a note where everyone can respond to each other and write a main page where the plan will be set out with who goes where, what time, etc.
