Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
There are some hardcore people that are gonna camp. One Inforooster I know is planning on it but where I don't know.
Camping to me in Asheville in late October doesn't sound appealing. But I want a room and heat and a shower in my old age. Plus I'm in no condition to drive after a night of Moog.
We did meet ups last year and it worked out great. If we are talking meet ups count me in.

Anyone think VIP is worth it? If the venues are small I don't want to be stuck at the back. At the same time, VIP viewing area would kinda suck if the dance party is on the floor. What do you guys think?

You don't need VIP. Last year, I showed up a half-hour before Massive Attack started and got all the way to the front rail for them. You'll be fine with GA.

I was planning on going to Blizzcon in Cali but I'm kinda wanting another festival type experience. We are gonna be broke for a while after Bonnaroo but this looks like a really cool festival in a city I love. I'd be totally down for sharing a room with some other people. It would be me and hubby he snores a little but I don't (regardless of what he says!) anyway we would be going the cheapest route possible if ppl wanted to pitch in and get a room. Hopefully ticket prices will stay low for another month, am I wishing for too much on this?

Definitely not worth it. The venues were actually quite empty at each show I saw, compared to what I'm used to at a typical concert venue sellout. Friday's first set was Dan Deacon, and he actually had everyone space out and sit down with no problems. Saturday was average fullness, and Sunday was a ghost town.
I don't see how anybody can think VIP is worth it when the fine print states, "does not guarantee entrance" or some such nonsense. Although I'd initially planned to do Voodoo that weekend, Moogfest is looking better & better.
Note to GL: the "official" venue hotel (Renaissance Marriott) has discounted rates ($260/nt) that are slightly less than the Downtown Inn & Suites. Only a few bucks difference, but still...
There was a hotel where I stayed a few months ago for ORLG, and it was really cheap and not too bad (crummy WIFI, but you can't complain)... I'll try to find info on it from a friend, because I don't remember names of places I've stayed. I think it was 60 bucks for two of us for a night, and it was very close to the Tupelo Honey Cafe.

Did the prices go up? I paid $88 a night for a room. $260 is way to rich for my blood.
Holls. Get on this. Love love love for you to be there.

Heh. I'm thinking this is the place.
EDIT: My friends that went last year VIP said it wasn't worth it. They said the only perk was they could almost always get into Stella Blue which had a small capacity. It took some planning and patience but I could make it in there with GA band. And were not even sure if they are gonna use that as a venue.
Oh and this.

You had me at Tupelo Honey Cafe - lordhavemercy, that place rocks!!! Seriously, all the places in Asheville are amazing (that city is such a gem!) but everything @ THC makes me drool. What's the hotel, sang?
OK, now I'm chilling to some Tangerine Dream and about 87% ready to buy tix....nope, now up to 90% 91% and growing.
GL: dude, Asheville is foodie heaven! It would be a treat to experience it with fellow foodies like you & yours
Hahaha If you come I'll lead a food tour before the music starts.
We will start at Double D's for coffee then hit THC and Chorizo. Daniroo sent me to Table last year and I'm going back. No ifs, ands, or buts. .... And don't get me started on The Biltmore and stability.

Unless I'm misunderstanding your question, Sang wasn't with me.
Did you enjoy our first artist announcement video? MF Spaceman is getting ready for another launch of announcements - that means more artists are coming your way soon! How would you like the Spaceman to roll out the second round?
IT'S COMING!!!. I'd advise the fence setters to make some rash decisions.
Still need dates for: Anika Austra Brandt Brauer Frick CANT Causing A Tiger The Flaming Lips Hans-Joachim Roedelius Mayer Hawthorne & The County Suicide Tim Hecker Umphrey’s McGee

I'll be looking for your response as I plan to eat EVERY meal at Tupelo Honey Cafe.... /drool
Every indoor venue I've been to is TOO LOUD. Whereas outdoor concerts tend to have more balanced acoustics. What is ppl's experience with Moogfest venues?
I didn't experience any problems with too much sound last year. But I've never had a problem with too much sound at any indoor venue I've been to. On the contrary, I thought most of Bonnaroo's sound levels were waaaaay too low.
ACC/Thomas Wolfe were great sound wise. I just saw Mumford at ACC and complemented on how it sounded. The Orange Peel has a tendency, for me at least, to be a little loud. But it's a club and I come to expect that.
Also, I've only been to the Asheville Civic Center and The Orange Peel... love the Orange Peel, absolutely hate the Asheville Civic Center... it sounds okay, I guess, but awful place to see concerts. I'll make exceptions for this, though.
if we end up going, we're probably going drive back home every night (hour and a half), if anyone wants a couch or floor to sleep on ours is available.

Crazy Talk. There is a quackton of cheap hotels even if not downtown.
Also I'm curious to this Diana Wortham Theatre. Anybody know what that place is like?

still cheaper to drive home. and if anyone is going and wants to save money, they can come stay with us.
What? I'm not gonna get a chocolate on my pillow at turn down? Screw that.
we'll give you chocolate pillows.
That just sounds so wrong on so many levels.
Anyway, there is a good hotel I stayed at last year just down Tunnel Road, like a 5 minute drive from downtown, that I recommend. I think it was a Best Western. A good friend of mine now lives in Asheville so I'll be staying on his couch this year, but I remember the struggle to find a cheap place to stay last year.
Also, I updated the first post with the days people are playing (or the ones we know so far). Sorry I haven't been updating this for a while, I was really busy leading up to roo, but should have more free time now.
