It appears that M83 will be there as well, according to CoS. It's listed as logical .. but you wouldn't play SF in between weekends if your not gonna play Coach too.
Can someone let me know who this "Swervedriver" is?
90's shoegaze band from the UK. Fanfuckingtastic. I never got a chance to see 'em but I saw Adam Frankin (The singer) a few years ago and he was spot on.
The undercard is already looking solid! Drop in some surprises coachella is known for and this will be the tits. Also my payment just processed today as well.

Eh if they were to play a festival I would expect it to be Coach anyway. Still doubtful though, tour dates do line up but that doesn't always mean something.

I'm not sure which gives me more mini-heart attacks: the fear of losing my tickets every time Goldenvoice doesn't bill me on the first of the month or reading how crazy good the theoretical lineup predictions of the Internet would be.
goodness i'm so indecisive, as usual. I just feel like coach has to has something HUGE lined up this year if they are doing something so audacious as to stage two identical weekends back to back, but I have loyalty to roo and my farm family that is pretty powerful.

good news is, you'll have a great time at either fest!
Ok, some changes in my life have occured that would allow me to attend Coachella in 2012 and I'm about 75% attending at this point. I have two big hurdles to jump first:
1. How the HELL do I fly into LAX and get to Coachella, and back.
2. Do I pack a cheap tent and camp, or purchase a hotel/shuttle package.
Help?
EDIT: fwiw im looking at weekend #2. I think it will be a lot cooler to watch weekend #1 via webcast and get SUPER pumped up, then fly out and experience it first hand.

I didn't do Coachella but I did Festival 8. I flew into Ontario (closer to Indio, and my plane ticket was ultimately cheaper arriving there) and rented a car. Not sure if Coachella offers any kind of shuttle service. I like to have control over my comings and goings, especially when dealing with flights, so I prefer to take on the expense of renting a car to give myself that security.
I stayed in a hotel with friends, and had no difficulty getting in and out of the venue. a decent little walk to the car from the concert grounds but nothing major. Personally if I went to Coachella I would pack a little tent and just camp. I bet the weather is great for camping in April (it was pretty awesome in October as well), and this way if you are partying you can just stumble back to your tent and crash out. The money you save by not doing a hotel can help you cover the rental car and then some.
I flew and camped this past summer at SBIX. I put my clothes in my carry on and all my camping stuff (tent and sleeping bag) in a large bag I checked. For a pillow I brought a pillow case and stuffed it with clothes. When I landed I went to wal mart to buy basic camping food (pb and J, bread, chips) and a cheapie folding chair. Worked out great!
If you've camped at Roo I imagine camping in indio in april will feel like the ritz fracking carlton. someone who has camped at indio in april can correct me if I'm wrong.
Any inforoo'ers in Nashville plan on attending Coachella 2nd weekend? After some research this is definitely gonna be easier/cheaper if I dont go solo lol. And all my IRL friends are brokeasses.

So it looks like I may be doing this instead of Ultra. I'll be going week 1 since my friend who lives in San Fran already has week 1 tickets, despite the fact that I'd rather do the second weekend. Whatever, it should rule. I'm waiting to see the lineup before making my final decision between the two, but I have a feeling it'll be Coachella

As previously stated Ontario is a great place to access the area. The airport is roughly an hour and a half from Indio. Southwest flys to Ontario and its super cheap. Also "bags fly free" which means you can pack all your camping equipment free for no extra charge which brings me to my next point. Of course you camp. The desert is beautiful in April and it's the best camping weather for any festival I've attended. Rent a cheap car for pickup at Ontario, make a stop by the grocery store and you're golden.
