haha. was actually talking to my friend about trying to start planning for this next year. Ive never been and i know the whole scene is a lot different from Bonnaroo but Coachella is one of the few festivals who year after year puts out a lineup I find comparable to Bonnaroo. Its farther away but the its a negligible difference when you consider i have to drive to TN verses flying to CA. Unless they really shit the bed on the lineup (doubtful) I think next years Coachella may get me to visit CA for the first time.
We want to take this opportunity to THANK YOU for supporting Coachella for more than a decade. You have stood by us through our growing pains and encouraged us to follow our instincts to create something unique and special. Anyone who has experienced the sunset, with a slice of Spicy Pie, while watching their favorite band knows what we are talking about. We are honored by your continued enthusiasm and passion for Coachella. Coachella 2012 Announcement Tuesday @ 10:00 am pst Coachella.com Enjoy your weekend.
Coachella's right around my birthday... would LOVE to go out there in celebration of it, but flying out there and whatnot is gonna be costly. *sigh* Plus, I'm hoping to be in nursing school then.

I'm in your boat. I would consider going again next year but not without the lineup. I bought my tickets this year before the drop and certainly didn't regret it but I could also see a lineup this year that is great for Coachella but not for me.
Coachella may enter the league of a sell out, pre-line up. I also take comfort in the fact, there is not a Coachella line up I have ever hated. If I hate the 3 headliners, there is something amazing happening on 3 or 4 other stages. (Unlike WSP unopposed vs 4 acts I wanted to see conflicting)

Identical lineup, 2 weekends...ACTUALLY it's a good idea!!! In theory of course. Not at all what I was expecting. Then again I've never been. Looks like next year would be a good year to start
COACHELLA 2012 will be two separate events, held over two consecutive weekends. We will attempt to produce two identical festival weekends. That means same lineup, same art, same place, different people."

This is just straight up weird. I couldnt even imagine there being TWO Bonnaroo's, or TWO Lollapalooza's, or TWO Glastonbury's. Its so odd, and really I dont see what benefit besides cash flow it would bring. The idea behind a annual festival or annual event is that is ANNUAL. Only one, something to look forward to, something that if you snooze you loose when it comes to getting tickets, something that is special. This just sucked any ounce of "special" Coachella had out for me.
If Bonnaroo did this, it would break my heart. I love Roo so much I would feel compelled to try and do both.. which I really couldn't afford. I would feel used and maybe turn my back on it completely.
Plus where is the magic in trying to recreate the same event two weekends in a row?

This. Also, I wouldn't want to go to the 2nd one because I would want to be there for the first one, where everything is happening for the first time...
