I prefer to be in Pod 1/BFE. The walk is no worse than if you get put on the far side of Brushy Branch or way out in the NW corner. It's also nice to be able to get camp set up, take time to relax and get to know your neighbors. It feels a little more like a community to me.
are you talking about Pod 6 (close to the silo on bushy branch)? that is where i was last year b/c i did toll booth volunteer work, and it was a long hike. i'm coming in wednesday night. i only live about 20 min from the farm, so i'll prob leave my house around 7:00 and take HWY 55 to the farm. is pod 1 closer than pod 6? i was kinda hoping BFE would already be filled up by the time i got in, so maybe i could get a little closer spot.
Ok, first timer here. I have read that people have walks up to 50 minutes from BFE, but everyone in this thread has said around 30 minutes. Is the 50 minutes an exaggeration?
1st time I was very unprepared so the whole experience sucked and didnt really get a lot of Roo, so that doesn't count. I do remember the quick Centeroo entry way which opened on Saturday and Sunday. Outside of that i remember having a ton of space and it was ok.
2nd year i was a little closer to grosch road which made the walk far better, but it was still BFE got a good amount of space and was pretty happy with the whole experience.
The whole walk lasts about 35-45 minutes depending on condition's and such. They have a bridge which will take you over the ground which will be broken by Friday evening.
I found the ability to leave roo to be a lot easier then what I have read in other areas not too much stopped us and was pretty chill.
All in all it's not that bad, I saw a lot walking and had a tired trek back late night Thursdays and Friday but i wouldn't worry too much about it , after all it's Roo!

Yes. I was camped all the way back by the silo in 07 and it was a hike. BFE is no farther than the corner of pod 6 plus you can catch a little shade on the walk to Centeroo.

Maybe 50 if you've partied too hard and get lost. I think it's closer to 30 minutes.

depending on the conditions and how fast/slow you walk, 20-30 minutes sounds about right.
you can always utilize the golf cart taxis though.
They have not opened the path through VIP to the What stage on Thursday ever.
Maybe this year if we cross our fingers!
Times are pretty much right though. Basically as long as someone is performin' on the main stage that entrance is open. It does get closed after the headliner though.

ok one thing that hasnt been mentioned here yet is the cicadas. So everyone says that the traditional BFE has more trees and shade. And in another thread i hear that cicadas gather closers to tree (yea i am sure they will be everywhere but if your near trees its MUCH worse)... thoughts on this? I have no problem with the walk or anything like that but the cicadas are just that extra kicker..
cicadas are spotty here in TN. i live about 20 min from the farm and haven't seen the first one at my house, and i have a forest behind my house. however, 10 min up the road at my in-law's, they are out in full force there. they can't hurt you, and they aren't even that big, so I'd think we should be fine.
There are trees surroundin' the 007 camps, but none directly in the campgrounds. So it might be noisey maybe, but I don't think it'll be horrible to deal with them.
These questions are probably dumb, but I have extreme anxiety issues and I'm trying to work out logistics as much as I can before arriving.
Last year I came late Friday and my friend's dad already had a tent set up...somewhere (on the same "Street" as the grilled cheese stand, me thinks) with his car....maybe a 10-15 minute walk to the arch. This year I'm debating tent-only vs. regular camping. My friends will have an RV that will be the "hangout" spot, but I'm trying to decide where to set up camp.
Is all "car" camping in BFE? Is any "tent-only" camping NOT in BFE?

DANKE!!!
car camping is all over the grounds outside of centeroo.
your walk could be anywhere from 5 mins to 30 mins.
tent only camping is located directly outside of the bonnaroo arch.
I'm now stoppin' in to say that I will not be gettin' in BFE/007 this year. Fuckin' last minute bullshit with un-named person(s) in my travel party. Really not happy about this shit.

So odd question, I didnt go last year & I heard about the chip check point things, just wondering if they even had the entrance from BFE to the What Stage or just got rid of it?

I accidentally found it before Eminem, so yeah, they still have it. It had the wrist scanners like the main entrance.
It's still there. And they added a shortcut that ran between What/VIP which MAJORLY cut down on the trip for when What was closed. And it was soft and grassy.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Thanx for the info guys! Glad to know they didnt get rid of it in case I end up in BFE. But back to the original topic anytime I've been there its not that bad espically now with the cabs to take you back at night.
I've never had much luck with the taxi service. Granted I have avoided it's usage almost entirely, but last year out in Super BFE POD 11 my group actually took a taxi into Centeroo. By Sunday I would've paid twice as much fer a taxi, but couldn't find any. Glad I saved the money in the end, but damn if I wasn't feelin' it!
We were out in pod 11 last year too up in Cleveland Brown and after that first walk in that Thursday we took a taxi every other time. It was the best money we spent the entire time. We only had trouble finding one on one night so we started walking and then caught one at the end of Shakedown. Definitely bringing the cash to do that again this year if we are in BFE again. We actually really liked it there with the only neg being how far away it was.
