First year ('06), as soon as we got to S-BFE, we didn't know any better, so we just started pitching our site like we were trying to win an Immunity Idol. It was still hotter than ballzak when we heard the first band come on, and we figured we had at least a 30 min hike into Centeroo. So I quickly chugged two bottles of icy-cold spring water, before we started walking.
Three paces after I finished the second one. I just projectile-puked it. Nuthin but clear, cold water. But the crowds were still amused.
So now we camp a little closer, and pitch tents a bit less urgently. Haven't spewed since.
I was checking out my bonnaroo map from last year and it says that map that there is 24 hour access path from southeast BFE that cuts between the vip and mainstage, did anybody use this?and was it open 24/7?
Yes, I used it. Is was 24/7, the entire time. Its cuts right by the What entrance that opens on Friday. Took about 25 min to get to the arch. Only about 20 min to the What entrance once it opened.
It was not open 24 hours back in '09/'10 when I was in BFE. That route was always closed after the headliner on Fri/Sat. If it's open all day now that just makes 007 an even more fantastic campsite!

Well the What stage entrance/exit closes sometime after the HLers on Fri and Sat. But if we're all talking about the same shortcut, then yes, it was open 24/7. The one that goes right by the VIP camping area and runs along the What area wall, right?

I figure I could take the taxi 85 times before my g/a ticket would be as expensive as vip. how are the taxis set up btw, is it pretty easy to grab one? and do they just drop you off at the camp but not your specific site?

I have never taken a taxi, but it would be impossible for them to drop you off at your specific site without running over other sites. They'll drop you off on the road, wherever you ask them to.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Last year, I was put into BFE (NE corner, up by the tree line) and I did not mind the walk at all. Yes, it is hot but nothing too strenuous and you have hundreds of your new neighbors to walk with. The only thing that you had to take into consideration was deciding what to bring.
Rememo. . . did you use the What Stage side entrance at all? It seemed to save a little time vs the Arch entrance as you didn't get slowed down by the ped traffic on Shakedown.

To me, it's not that it's awful or excruciating, but it wastes precious time & energy. I can pop out to T.O. in 5 minutes, re-up and catch the next set without missing a beat. When I was in BFE I'd tend to get stuck at camp for extended breaks and allow myself to skip sets I really shouldn't have.
I was stuck waaaay out in POD 11 last year. I feel like it was even further from the gates than BFE is?? I would rather be closer, but to be honest with you...the 30 minute walk to the gates was pretty fun and you meet/see some serious characters along the way.

They have both taxis (golf carts) and shuttles (little buses). The taxi was $5 and the shuttle I think was 10 trips for $10, or something like that. The taxi went when you wanted, the shuttle when they wanted. The taxi will stop where you want, the shuttle where they want...but as others pointed out, the walk in/out is not bad, as a LOT of other people are doing it too...so good company, funky scenery, and little shops all along the way....

My first year, 2006, I was stuck way out in the 007 campgrounds. Pretty much edge of the campgrounds. Looking back now, it added to the experience, but I'd hate to do it again. 2007, I got a primo spot right across from the Centeroo entrance. Looking back now, it took away something. I've come to love being stuck right in the middle of the campgrounds, right in the middle of all the madness.
But to answer the question, yeah. BFE is pretty bad.

I was out there too! Furthest away from Centeroo, most definitely. True, the walk was fun, but turned into quite the task.
I have no problem with BFE at all. I was camped at Dr.No last year and didnt find the 25 minute walk to be overbearing at all. Sure it was hot, but it's not like I thinking of how damn hot it was when I having fun sipping beers along the way with good friends. Embrace Bonnaroo and everything about it!
