Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
How do they determine what films they play in the cinema tent? They sometimes seem comically random (Commando? Superman III?) compared with the prestigous and edgy artists booked to perform.
What criteria do they use to determine whether to release a dvd or cd of an event?
The SuperJam has evolved over the years. Any thoughts on the possibility of SuperJam being Sunday's "headliner"?
Is the Artist in Residence idea dead?
What is the decision-making process that goes into maintaining the relationship with some of the Roo veterans? (I.e., When artists like Warren Haynes, Les Claypool, moe., Umphreys McGee or My Morning Jacket don't play in a given year, is this something that is discussed between the artist and the promoters or is it typically one side just opting out?)
Since there seem to be only two options, do they prefer to execute the festival in torrential rain or stifling heat?
Bonnaroo has entered into a number of coporate partnerships over the years. What are some of the partnerships that never happened for one reason or another?
Has there ever been a discussion about allowing artists to sell their own merchandise adjacent to the tents and stages to allow for smaller lines and a greater selection of items? Side question: Have they ever tried the "Instant Live" approach by selling discs of sets during the festival itself?
Are there any Golden Rules that festival organizers adhere to when planning the festival in terms of booking or scheduling?
Do they ever look at the schedule when they are done and realize that they have three or four acts with very similar fanbases? When this happens do they a) attempt to juggle the schedule to limit some of the more obvious conflicts, b) feel satisfied that they have created a rich buffet for music lovers to choose from or c) laugh?
Since there seem to be only two options, do they prefer to execute the festival in torrential rain or stifling heat?
06 was perfect friday it was like 81 with a breeze
Once for a few hours.
I swear one year (they all blend together for me at this point) my rear actually got burned through my shorts.
Then there were the years of worrying about trench foot.
I'd rather have rain than opperessive heat and dust.
Oh yeah the interview is still going to happen but trying to get the one of the guys in charge or Roo means we have to make the schedule work. So sometime early next year.

i only have one question for superfly and ashley capps....is led zeppelin headlining or not? yes or no? the statement "inaccurate" is not good enough for me...the rumor was led zeppelin and metallica will headline, so inaccurate could mean one of them but it could also mean robert plant and alison krauss, because robert plant is the frontman of led zeppelin...or can they tell us if robert plant and alison krauss are headlining? we know they are playing, but we don't know if they'll headline or if alison will play with union station earlier in the day.....in the words of tom petty - i need to know...
Diggin all the questions, and would love to see superfly answer all of them... my most pressing question: WHEN ARE TICKETS GOING ON SALE??? And will the email junkies get a heads up or are they going to stage one helluva surprise to attempt to foil the scalpers?
Ask them about the overall "green" aspects of the fest.
Alternative power for the stages, recycled building products for new structures, biodegradable cups n' stuff, etc, etc, etc
It'd be cool to have a cup from Bonnaroo that you could REFILL w/ beer or whatever, instead of getting a new one. It would definately cut down on trash. They could even charge less for the refill
The "greening" aspect of Bonnaroo was one thing that they really pushed last year. There were several press releases which highlighted what they were doing. Here's one of them:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BONNAROO MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL 2007 ANNOUNCES EXCITING LARGE SCALE GREENING INITIATIVES
The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is proud to announce its greening initiatives for the 2007 event, to take place June 14-17 in Manchester, Tennessee. The Bonnaroo organization is dedicated to producing a festival that is as environmentally friendly as possible while raising awareness among patrons about green products, technologies and issues. In light of this, organizers are taking significant steps toward reducing or eliminating the environmental impact of major facets of the event. A full list of environmental initiatives follows.
Bonnaroo’s greening plans include the use of a full line of organic cotton t-shirts, biodegradable concession service items, revolutionary waste management strategies, and cleaner fuel options. In partnership with Tennessee-based company WastAway, Bonnaroo will participate in a revolutionary recycling process that will turn 250 tons of festival garbage into construction material and park benches to be used at future events. The festival will also continue its own extensive recycling and composting program in partnership with Clean Vibes, an organization that has diverted approximately 10 percent of the event’s total waste since its inception. This year, Bonnaroo organizers expect to divert over 60 percent of the event’s waste from landfills.
Bonnaroo is also implementing plans to mitigate its predicted impact on global warming. All of the festival’s non-music stage generators will utilize a biodiesel fuel, and one such stage (the Solar Stage) will run on solar power alone. In addition, in partnership with CLIF Bar, the festival will purchase renewable energy credits from the Bonnaville Foundation, offsetting all carbon dioxide emissions created by the festival and the bands negating Bonnaroo’s contribution to global warming. Attendees will also be encouraged to purchase wind energy credits called ‘Clif Cool Tags’ to make up for emissions produced by their travel. To further involve attendees in greening efforts, the festival will run a contest for “Best Campsite" with one major category of judgment based on recycling/greening.
New initiatives for 2007 are the use of non-VOC paints, and inclusion of electric golf carts into the fleet of production vehicles. Additionally, this year’s festival program will be printed on 100% recycled paper, and Bonnaroo will experiment with the use of a fuel cell which converts hydrogen directly into energy through an electrochemical reaction that will be used to power one of it’s wi-fi towers.
Bonnaroo 2007 brings back the popular Planet Roo village within Centeroo, an area dedicated to preserving the environment and promoting healthy living. Non-profit organizations, eco-friendly vendors, and Solar Stage performers will gather to educate patrons about what they can do to protect their own health as well as the planet’s. Fans who stop by Planet Roo will have the chance to learn about alternative fuels and energy sources, eat organic food at a waste free restaurant, and hear festival artists discuss topics related to the theme “Social Change through Music.” Representatives from organizations such as Rock the Earth, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), StopGlobalWarming.org, and Big Frog Mountain, will interact with fans and artists to raise awareness about ways to fight global warming in everyday life.
Recognizing that green issues are of paramount importance to the organization, its patrons, and the world at large, Bonnaroo is proud to present an event that is not only a great entertainment experience, but also an example of an environmentally sound gathering that helps our planet remain hospitable to life.
******
Bonnaroo 2007 Greening Initiatives:
- Over 30,000 gallons of biodiesel fuel (B99) to replace diesel for non-music stage generators - WastAway refuse to handle process of recycling over 250 tons of garbage - Concession food to be served with biodegradable wraps, plates, cups and cutlery manufactured from a renewable resource - Festival-wide recycling and composting program to be implemented - Implementing methods to offset all festival and band emissions - Allow attendees to purchase energy credits to offset their own emissions for travel to the festival - Solar stage and sound system to be run by solar power - Presenting a full line of organic cotton t-shirts - Using tree-free posters - Using post-consumer recycled toilet paper for portolets - Using 100% recycled paper (30% post-consumer) for all of the program and administrative needs - Use of VOC-free paint will eliminate 1,260 lbs of Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions from this year’s footprint - Expansion of Planet Roo to focus on exposing festival attendees to organic lifestyles, renewable energies, and environmental and social issues - 2007 Greening Experiments: - Electric Vehicles - To make sure that they will perform, and to gauge employee behaviour with regard to recharging them, we are beginning this experiment by introducing 5 electric golf carts into the fleet this summer. - Aggressively seeking ways to make Bonnaroo 2008 even greener

Will they ever sell the tickets before the lineup is announced again? were they just trying it out last year? or does it just depend on the lineup they have planned?
Are they thinking of putting any pavement down or putting in permanent bathrooms?
Just tell them that we love them for all the experiences that they have made possible.

1. What long term things are they building this year, if any?
2. Any plans for other concerts, festivals considering they bought the farm? (Hint - Led Zeppelin reunion show, not necessarily during Bonnaroo, but on the farm?)
3. Any chance they could expand either the Comedy Tent or the Jazz Tent?
4. Any plans to make Thursday either a full or longer day?
5. What do they think about the other festival lineups? ('chella, 'rado, Waka)
6. Lastly, ask them if I could build a house on the farm. I'd like to live there year round.

A question I'd like for you to ask is if there is a way that they could get more input from fans about the acts they book. I understand the logistics are extremely difficult to overcome, with 80,000 opinions. However, maybe an online survey, or a survey given at the gate when entering with a central place to turn them in?

Oxegen Festival in Ireland did something like this for 2008. King's of Leon was the fan's top pick on an online poll, and the festival quickly booked them long before any other announcements. So Roo could definitely do something similar.
My question for Superfly: Can we tighten up the schedule around the headliner? Meaning - if the headliner starts at 8:30 and ends at 10:15, can we fix the schedule so the next acts start at 10:45 instead of waiting until midnight?
