I asked earlier in this thread... Thank's for the Oade Brothers website tip i am willing to sink 1500 into a decent setup I just want to git the most bang for the buck you know.
willsfc what do you use and how much did it cost you? Am i dreaming of gitting good quality audio for 1500?
I've been playing around with those Firefox plugins for the last few hours trying to rip some of the shows posted on audioperv and it's just not working. I don't understand the relation between audioperv and megavideo; these videos are nowhere to be found if you go directly to the megavideo site and search for them. But if you click on the video posted on audioperv (the screen, not the buttons) it takes you to the same video on the megavideo site? Also, my FLV download/conversion software works just fine on other video sites such as youtube and google video...but not megavideo! This doesn't have to be this complicated!
So, to wrap this up I want to send a big F YOU to megavideo (and possibly audioperv as well - I'd like to know where they originally found these webcast rips) It's pretty bogus that these guys are trying to make money on what is essentially stolen intellectual property. ALL BOOTLEGS SHOULD BE MADE FOR SHARING, NOT PROFIT! Having said that, a big thank you to willsfc...I've massively enjoyed your tapings the last couple years. It's always fun to travel back in time!
/rant. Sorry for the long post.
Edit: I don't want to come off as ungrateful. It's nice to even be able to watch the videos and I'm glad we can watch them at the very least. I'm just frustrated because, as has already been noted, there aren't many recordings available this year (especially not a lot of the sets I was really hoping for) And when I thought there might have been a chance to grab the Big Boi set, I was stoked! Oh well, this gives me all the motivation I need to invest in taping shows for myself. As the old saying goes, if you want something done right...

You're being ridiculously harsh and ungrateful. Audioperv didn't "find" these webcast rips. I'm assuming they recorded them and put them up for free for everyone to enjoy. Are you really getting mad at that?

Who is trying to make money on this?
ALL BOOTLEGS SHOULD BE MADE FOR SHARING, NOT PROFIT!
These aren't bootlegs. These are videos that are owned by Bonnaroo. And again....nobody is trying to profit from them.

Yea, big thanks to Willsfc. He's the man for doing this.
I think you just need to take a chill pill lichking......you're getting mad about things that aren't even true. relax ;D
If you are trying to download the videos from theaudioperv, you might (actually, you will) find that there are several add-ons for Firefox that will make the process relatively simple.
This presupposes that you are using Firefox, but if you are remotely sound with technology, one of these add-ons should make it easy to download all of the videos that have been posted.
Hey, I know it is only a week out, but I'm really hoping a tape of the Superjam surfaces. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a single taper's rig at Superjam, but my memory is fuzzy and I could be thinking of Dr. John's set from the night before. I'll echo Will's statement from earlier - we had less tapers than ever this year. I look for rigs at every show I go to, and there were noticeably less tapers than in year's past. In response to the post directly above: yes, I think a decrease in tapers is (at least in large part) due to the move away from a "jamband" festival and towards the "mainstream". Taping is more common in the jam community than other genres or "scenes," so it only follows that a decline in jambands results in a decline in tapers.
Thanks for the plugin tips. Will try those later.
As for number of tapers.....most of the shows I was at had at least a few tapers by the soundboard. As for Superjam.....I went directly to the guy taping it and asked if he'd be sharing it or if it was personal recording only and he said he would be posting it on Live Archive when it's ready.
The thing about recordings is that most of these guys are perfectionists about the sound so they want to take it home and work on it....and they have real lives so sometimes it takes a little while before recordings show up. I'd just be a little more patient (at least for the Superjam).
ITM, without a possible work-around, the only way to get copies of the videos from audioperv you have to have a paid subscription to megavideo. SOMEONE is making money, that is for sure.
We can debate what constitutes a bootleg all day long. IMO, any type of rip from an original source, audio or video, is indeed a bootleg copy. These videos are from the webcasts and they are definitely being hosted in some fashion at megavideo, not Bonnaroo.com.
I'm trying to get copies of this stuff for my personal enjoyment and to be able to SHARE it with the rest of you so you can enjoy it forever and ever. I'm sure there are plenty of others that share my frustration, I just happened to be more vocal about it. Please excuse me if I rubbed you or anyone else the wrong way.

There are possible work-arounds. Just search the internets. I do not have a paid subscription and somehow I have a copy of some of the videos that were hosted on megavideo. So please.....stop complaining just because you haven't figured out how to save them yet.

You didn't rub me the wrong way. But you're complaining because you haven't figured out how to do something and claiming that there's no way to do it. There are many different methods to doing it (some were listed here, others are all over the internet) so why not look around a little bit before claiming that theaudioperv is trying to profit off of this. If theaudioperv didn't record/post the videos then we'd have NOTHING so try and show a little more gratitude towards him.
How did you plan to share it with everyone? Just curious.
Sorry, ITM. I've said all that I'm going to on the subject. I'm not getting into an internet pissing match with you.
For the rest of you out there that aren't looking for an argument: The firefox plugins don't seem to work on these sites. If anyone has any other ideas or know of any other sources where it can be downloaded, please post your wisdom. Tia!

How do you plan on sharing these with everyone once you get them for yourself? Still curious about that.
While I've been trying to work through my "problem" on audioperv I noticed that video of WSP and Bootsy was added today. It'll be cool to see the rest of Bootsy's set since he kind of Kanye'd us and we had to leave for Buffalo Springfield. Heard that the rest of his set was a funky fresh good time! Glad I'll be able to see it now!
ITM, that software you posted doesn't seem to work either. Lol! Do you personally use it, or did you just find it with a quick search? The reviews on cnet are turrible, just turrible (in my best Sir Charles voice) But I thank you for steering me in the right direction. I found another piece of software and it's doing it's thing as we speak. I'll report back in when it's done.
And to answer your question, a friend and I have recently been working on compiling all of our boots from over the years and plan to put them up on Dime and Demonoid. I lost most of my stuff in a hard drive failure a couple years ago (no backups - I know, very stupid. I learned my lesson). I was lucky to recover a lot of it through friends and a few places online. It's been a long and tedious process, but it showed me the value of these online communities. I would have been SOL without them. Just as they were there for me, I want to be there for the next person unlucky enough to lose their entire collection.

I personally used that software to download Big Boi and Ratatat's sets from Megavideo.com. Worked perfectly fine for me. What were you saving them as? I was able to get both .avi and .mp4 working.

The gear i tape with is actually my dads, I just borrow it and take it to shows he doesn't get to.
Checkout taperssection.com/ , they can help you get started, and you can get started for a whole lot less than that IMO.
Hey! Has anyone found the recording for any of these sets? Primus Ratatat Railroad Earth Bassnectar Shpongle The Decemberists Ray LaMontange Old Crow Medicine Show Bela Fleck & The Flecktones

For once I'm not trying to be argumentative here, but I must say, some people seem to be speaking out of turn and appear to be misinformed. Pardon me for repeating some of the things others have said.
First of all - stop getting mad at everything because you are struggling to download pirated material which you somehow feel you are entitled to for free.
Someone had to record all of those sets and post them, which took a lot of time and effort. Had they not done that, these videos wouldn't be available at all. They aren't obligated to share a copy with you. I'm not sure why you would be mad at someone for taping these and trying to stream them for others to watch (unless you were Superfly). Someone is doing you a favor and you are mad because it wasn't enough for you. Do you understand how Megavideo works? theaudioperv isn't profiting off of anyone trying to download thee videos. Megavideo is just a dumping ground for people to share video files, they don't really control what users upload; Megavideo had no part in ripping or uploading anything from Bonnaroo, they are just the host. We should all be thankful that we live in a day and age where this is even possible.
I've gotta call this out - lichking, you have no idea what you are talking about. I would appreciate it if you didn't state your opinion as fact, particularly when you are trying to refute a statement I've made.
For the rest of you out there that aren't looking for an argument: The firefox plugins don't seem to work on these sites. If anyone has any other ideas or know of any other sources where it can be downloaded, please post your wisdom. Tia!
This claim is false. Both of the Firefox plugins I mentioned will work. I used both of them successfully. I'm sorry if you weren't able to figure out how to use them, but that doesn't mean they don't work. By telling other people that they don't work, you are not only making me out to be a liar, but you are misleading competent people who might have success with the Firefox plug-ins. I found the end of this comment to be rather amusing. Prior to your post, several people posted their wisdom on how to download the videos. Your response was to complain and claim they didn't work, then you turn around and ask for more people to give suggestions.
I'm not going to talk about the semantics of a "bootleg," but I think everyone has a different opinion - there is a big grey area when it comes to sharing/selling potentially pirated intellectual property. Personally, I think that "bootlegs" should be shared, but that doesn't necessitate that everything is free for everyone. Even pirates have overhead to cover, and bootlegs can't exist without at least some amount of cashflow. We've gotten spoiled in the internet age. In medieval times, "bootlegs" typically came in the form of a vinyl record. Maybe they were kept behind the counter at your local record shop, or sold on the street from the guy everyone knew - needless to say, everyone had to pay for their bootlegs back then. Several centuries ago, my father purchased the infamous 'Great White Wonder' bootleg for $5 - which actually sounds like a great deal to me. While it isn't as obvious, even Megavideo has overhead to cover - Servers, hosting, bandwith . . . these things cost money. I really don't think that the $10 they ask for is unreasonable considering what they are offering. In fact, you might want to look at hosting services if you plan on sharing with everyone.

You start with a passive-aggressive remark towards someone who is trying to help you. Once again, you irresponsibly state that someone's suggestion doesn't work. The software ITM posted does work, but it appears you concluded that it didn't from several reviews on CNet. There are only 7 reviews provided, 4 of which are more than 2 years old. The only review from the past 6 months was left by a very confused person, who seemed to be reviewing MegaVideo itself and not the software.
Another point of amusement - you beg for people help you find a way to download these videos, then you find software you can operate, and you don't tell anyone else what it is! If you truly believe that no one else's suggestions would work, shouldn't you have mentioned what did finally work? Topping it all off - you rant about your desire to share these videos with everyone, then claim you'll be doing so through private torrent communities. If you want to share with EVERYONE, you should consider using some public trackers.
I'm sorry if any of comments prove to be inflammatory or provoke further argument on these subjects.
I thought I was having a good discussion with my main man, ITM! And then here you come with your wall of text. I'm not going to e-fight with you either. I'm sorry you're so bent out of shape, buddy! It'll be ok. You'll be alright.
I used the megavideo software located at downloadtoolz and converted the flv to an avi using the AVS Converter already installed on my box. I don't recall where I got it from, but there is plenty of conversion freeware out there.
All you do is put in the megavideo link and it'll give you a download link - if you are unlucky you have to fill out a survey - do it once and you can download 50 videos that day without being bothered again.
(if you do it today I recommend the psychic survey and make a dummy yahoo mail account for it)
Anyone know if there are any of the soundboard recordings floating around out there? Not that I don't enjoy taped stuff, It's just I'd prefer a soundboard if there are any!

Hey Will...you spoke early on of having a partial for eminem. Any future plans to post that up somewhere? Look forward to meeting you at U2 in a couple weeks.
will do horrible, terrible things for a recording of !!!
Did you catch their set in 2008? There was someone that had an untracked, uncirculated recording of that one but I've failed in my recent attempt to re-establish contact with him. There should be another thread on this board related to that if you wanna take a stab at it KW.
Forgive my ignorance, but I need some help converting flac files to mp3. I always used Flac Frontend, but my computer crashed recently and I lost all my programs. When I try to install Frontend again, it gives me error messages no matter where I download it from.
Does anybody have any suggestions, or perhaps a better program to use?
Also, still hoping for the following shows:
Gary Clark Jr. Ben Sollee Junip Bela Fleck The Meters Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears Sunday Superjam
