Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Mid-June to end of the summer - Friends and family see your amazing Bonnaroo pics and hear your awesome Bonnaroo stories and tell you "I'm definitely going next year".
Autumn - Bonnaroo hype and euphoria dies down a bit.
Holiday season - Pre-sale invokes another spark in the Bonnaroo talk. Friends are still excited and tell you they are still in, just have to check finances/vacation time. They ask you to remind them about Bonnaroo after the holidays.
January - You remind friends of Bonnaroo and tell them to possibly take vacation days within the next few weeks to ensure they have time off. Friends tell you they want to wait until they see the lineup but they are most likely still in.
February - Lineup drops and people get super excited. Friends are back on that "definitely in" tip. You breakdown the finances for them once again and the travel plans and they tell you they will get back to you.
March to end of May - One by one most of your friends drop out. They cite reasons from finances to work situation to long travel times to the heat and humidity to all of a sudden not loving the lineup. You politely try to sell them on it but deep down you know they aren't going no matter what, and most of them had no plans to go in the first place. Everyone talks a big game when it's not a reality.
Early June - As you prepare for your trip and show your excitement, the friends that dropped out express the fact that they wish they were going. You tell them they can still go and they say definitely next year.
Festival dates - Epic madness. They missed out, you had the experience of the lifetime. The small group of friends that did agree to go are thankful for you invited them to such a spiritual awakening. They will go back and post pics and tell stories and go through the yearly Bonnaroo cycle as did you.
And repeat.
...... it is certainly mid-June because about 20 people I know have told me how they wished they went and they are "definitely" in for the 2012 festival. I won't hold my breath.
We have one group of friends "in" and another who busted the cycle and said no early. We don't know what's worse, the early rejection or getting strung along.

I'm glad I never really had to deal with that cycle. My roo crew has always been pretty dependable. I threw the wrench in the cycle this time though by deciding to skip the next 2 Bonnaroos in order to go to Glastonbury in 2013.
Haha that cycle has been the case with my friends ever since they went in 09. I don't know why they won't just admit they aren't going I know it they know it. It's not like I'm going to be offended.

I think part of it, speaking from my experiences, is that many people just want to say they are going to Bonnaroo. Whether it's to sound "cool", try to make themselves believe in their head that they can go, display that they are huge music fans, etc - it's something a million people talk about but only 80,000 go to each year. It's such a big event, so many people want to be a part of that, even if that means talking a big game but not delivering. But when push comes to shove, very few make the plunge and they tell people that they almost went but couldn't and they will go next year.
Clearly you can convert some new people each year, but there are some in the group that will never ever go despite what they say.
mid-October - mid-December: keep an eye on music magazines, blogs and articles for any news about possible headliners mid-December - mid-February: read Inforoo, music blogs, etc. to find any lineup leaks mid-February - mid-April: research bands on the lineup, speculate on additions and schedule mid-April - mid-June: buy any necessary supplies for Bonnaroo, work out logistics for the trip mid-June - mid-October: recover, reminisce, and think about next year's Roo
Wow, surprised to learn that Glasto is taking 2012 off -- not enough port-a-pottys thanks to the Olympics.
^^nah, Glastonbury usually takes every fifth or sixth year off. They didn't hold it in '06, '01, '96, etc. With any other fest I might get concerned that it was in danger of not coming back, but with Glasto, it's just business as usual.
I'm very seriously considering joining you all at Glastonbury in 2013 - I'm actually hoping to make it part of a larger Euro trip if I can swing it. I'm usually the kind of person who needs to see a lineup before I buy tickets to a festival, but I will be making an exception for this one.
Thanks for reminding me guys! I have to get my passport renewed this year! ;D I have a registration already for Glastonbury, wonder if it will still be good by 2013?? I remember we talked about this last year at Meg's...I'm still in!

That's pretty much my personal Bonnaroo cycle as well. As for my friends' interactions. Not so much.

^all so true Glad to hear my friends aren't the only ones like this
I've got multiple friends who are saying they're 100 percent going - all for the first time. My wife's 100 percent not going this year, so it will be interesting to see if I end up flying solo. I'd like to take some first timers and see their eyes light up upon walking into Centeroo for the first time Thursday night.
Me Mr. 1karen1 Sister 1karen1 best friend of me and sister Beth.
It's how we go is the thing we have to work out.
After last year when it got to the point in late May where I didn't know if I could afford it and it was way to stressful. Then my grandfather died and my sister said "We're going because we need to" so that was when I made the statement to everyone "I will always go to Bonnaroo, I don't care who I have to leave home or who I have to take with me. I'm going so that the conversation of "will I or won't I" never has to stress me out again.
So now my options are:
Work for the parking company that the member on this site offered me. Volunteer Win a ticket. It's the most awesome thing ever. VIP has nothing on this.(Although I have no comparison as I've never stayed in VIP. But it was totally awesome. Get this whole DanceSafe thing worked out and work there. Buy a ticket.
What I'm hoping for is to get the DanceSafe booth going and then win a pair of guest passes which I will give away to another Inforoo member. All the while looking up contests to help my fellow Inforoosters possibly win a ticket and recruiting people that would want to help me with the DanceSafe booth.
I would also like to do the parking job just because I've never done it before.
As with every year, right now I have at least one friend who's interested. I've been tryin' to get him to go since i came back from my first year. I don't think it'll ever happen though.
So totally on track. Back in 2010 I won a trip and got to bring some friends with me. Two of them later thanked me and said they knew they'd never go otherwise, it would "just be one of those things we talk about" None of them have been back since.
I can't understand it, I think I'm addicted. I'm already making plans for brunch and have programmed the address into my GPS!
That summary is spot on! Luckily my original croo is dependable, but my other friends who "are going next year. Imma start saving for it" are nowhere to be found come ticket time
I've been there, many times. This year we had a group of about 4 people planning to go to Coachella. In the end, I'm gonna end up going with a totally different group because everyone in the first one slowly dropped out. It's gonna be awesome though. We already have everything booked. And I'm currently dealing with the same thing for Bonnaroo. All year I've been looking for people to go with. I have a friend who says he's "DEFINITELY going", but we all know how that goes. *sigh*
