I may have missed an announcement, but is there still some thought there could be a comedy stage or something of that nature?
Nothing official yet. Tony Clifton will be wandering around all weekend, but that is all I have heard. There is a $5 late night comedy show Friday with some pretty good locals just up Hwy. 59 a bit at Cohiba Dunes Cigar Bar.
19.25 hours until I leave for the airport! I fell off a bike on Sunday (yeah yeah.. I know) and tore up my knee. Today is the first day that it doesn't bother me to bend it. I was pretty worried about being in the sand all weekend with wounds that keep ripping open. But hopefully I will be ok!!
If you want to recognize me, just look for the blonde with scabs all over her knees. (My other knee got tore up last Thursday when I fell on the thick slab stone stairs... I feel like a little kid!)

No. I won't be bringing ribs inside the festival. My plan is to eat a nice lunch at the condo before heading to the festival. Our condo has a full kitchen. And I don't mind re-heated bbq, especially if it goes straight from my smoker to the freezer.
I didn't try to bring food in last year. The first year, they were pretty draconian. We brought some snacks (granola bars, fruit snacks, and a couple of apples) for the kids, and they wouldn't let us bring those inside (at least the snacks they found anyways .
I thought I answered it.
The answer is no. We aren't allowed to bring food into the festival. They will search your bags and take the food, if they find it. I knew people who got shit confiscated last year and I knew people who snuck in a whole 5th of Rum. So sneak what you want in, at your own risk.
I got here yesterday with my brother. We're in Island Winds right next to all the setup. The lights and noise last night made it a little hard to sleep, but it's awesome to see all the progress they've made and are continuing to make. It looks pretty great so far. If anyone's around, we'll prolly be hanging on the beach by the condos tonight and seeing if we can meetup with any fellow Hangout folks. We'll probably still be throwing a frisbee around even if we can't see it anymore so that's a good way to spot us if you're around.
Thanks for the pic indyjb! Postjack- Longinus and I's view is even crazier than that in the same building. The view looks better than last year........ all you could see was construction type stuff. Now, like in the bottom left that is the "artist compound". There is an oasis for them to hang at you can kind of see.
Okay, so my buddy is running sound this weekend and from what he's told us, there def is a "VIP/Artist" stage. Supposedly, at this stage there will be extra sets from the headliners and such. Anyone playing the fest could be playing it. Does anyone have a VIP ticket that got emailed info about it? Also, I heard there is an artist stage as well, by that oasis. A very small stage, that might just be a little gathering spot and not even a stage, for the musicians to jam with each other on.
Dunno how true that one is, but considering the fest has gone out of its way the past two years to ensure that musicians leave the fest thinking "holy shit this was awesome" I wouldn't be surprised.
I'm gonna do my best to worm my way in to that VIP stage if there is some epic stuff going down.
I can leave work at 11am, but Caddyshaq doesn't get off till 2pm. I guess we'll be there a little after check-in time. Definitely gonna miss The Revivalists. Will probably get there in time to catch the Kingston Springs.
Leaving work at noon...grabbing some lunch, then heading towards gulf shores for the kick-off party. Not checking into the hotel until tomorrow, but I can't wait to check out the fest site today.

Who needs a couple (blue line/east) shuttle passes for HALF PRICE call me or text 6309368602 we can meet up at the preparty or at our condo (gulf house) or anywhere just need to dump these things for cheap and aviod a total loss - thanks
Check the online schedule for some slight schedule changes for Sunday. It looks like Skrillex was changed to Saturday and a couple other small changes.
Just as a reminder or heads up to everyone, there is NO RENTRY for the Pre Party today. Once you're in, you're in. I had to fight to convince the guy to let me run back to my condo to get my backpack because I assumed I could run back in between sets if I needed anything. Just letting y'all know.

I was about to go into the pre-party when I saw the no re-entry sign. I'm going to have a few beers on the balcony with the boombox and a cigar before heading back for Dirty Dozen and PHJB.

Skrillex moved to Saturday afternoon and Sat/Sun dance tent schedule rearranged to accommodate him. Which means Big Freedia is now playing opposite Delta Spirit. Skrillex ruins everything.

Day one review... Hangout still rules! Boom box & big gigantic set my legs on fire.xbox tent is one large dance floor / DO NOT bring no no words in your bag. Watched someone get thrown to the ground then most likely jail. Be safe have fun brothers and sisters !

Big g was awesome. New tent stage a vast improvement. My bag was ser searched.
