If this rumor is true, that would make me happy. Over the last few days there have been rumors swirling around Twitter about a return of Music Midtown at Piedmont Park in Atlanta. The dates are September 23 and 24 and the rumored headliners are:
Prince, Coldplay, The Black Keys and Mumford and Sons.
I noticed that Music Midtown has a new Twitter account and a web domain that is not fully constructed yet.
Oh man. I need to go to this. I was too young to go in its hey-day and the one year I wanted to go was the last year they had it and I was out of the country. Lets hope the rumors are true that its coming back.
If the Prince rumor is true, I'm going no doubt.
edit
Considering how big Music Midtown was in its hey-day, you would think that this would be another music festival venture AC Entertainment and Superfly Productions would undertake.
I've lived in Atlanta for 7 years now and missed the last couple of events. I really hope this pans out. I now that the Piedmont Park Conservancy has hosted some big one night concerts over the last few years that have been pretty successful.
Sang, I hear you're a guy that can get things. So I implore you, please, write to the proper people and make this come true.
haha i can get things? i dunno about that. i hope this is true though. i hope it's coming back even if those headliners are not for real. i never went to one before, almost did.

That sounds about right. I had a blast in 04 and 05.
was it that much? i remember it being really cheap like $15 a day. maybe $30. maybe it would be more now.
So I read it was $75 for a weekend pass in 2005 (I think), but surely that will go up if it happens this year. Mayo said she doesn't remember day passes... did they have them?

If those headliners are legit it may be more expensive, but fwiw '05 had Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Counting Crows, The White Stripes, The Pixies, The Killers, Alan Jackson, Keane, Robert Randolph, Lou Reed, Devo, Interpol and others.

They had like 5 different stages for different genres that were sponsored by the different radio stations. Like Alan Jackson played on the country stage and The White Stripes and Pixies headlined the 99X stage, which was the biggest one.
Seemed like standard Roo set times, most were an hour with headliners getting a couple hours.
Only real negative was the 99x stage and a few other spots were on concrete. Hopefully they can move it to a nice park like Piedmont or something.
