Iron Maiden i've been saying for years would be a unique and awesome headliner for any American festival, and we're running out of time before they get too incredibly old and hang it up. People travel hundreds and thousands of miles to see these guys. They regularly play to crowds as big as all of Bonnaroo. Sure, maybe in the US they aren't as huge, but I guarantee you if it was one of their only US dates you'd see plenty of people with Eddie t-shirts on in Manchester in June.
mastodon between the buried and me - people have been wanting them for the past couple years animals as leaders the Dillinger escape plan - it's time they come back converge rammstein would be awesome i could see dethklok at some point since they work with adult swim
Sorry, but am I the only one who think Metal and Bonnaroo do not mix, like oil and water? Maybe I am just a corn hittin hippie, but I just see two different vibes.

Yeah probably, considering they've been mixing just fine since 2008.
Just because music is loud doesn't mean it's either a) aggressive or b) angry.
Is there not more to Metal, than just being "loud"? It my not be the music, but in my limited experience the metal lovers I know are more aggressive and angry. It is me, I am not metal fan. Now it is too fast and crazy, my brain can not keep up and I get a headache. what good Metal bands have played since 2008? I want to check them out.

Opeth, Graveyard, Metallica, Mastodon. Wasn't there for Tool in '07 but i heard that rocked.
There is more to metal than just being loud. It's hard to explain being a metal fan but I'll try. First to address the really aggressive bands, it's value is getting your crazy out. We all have nerves of stress and anger that drives us slightly mad. This isn't squeeze a stress ball nerves, more like the world is sometimes fucked and disillusioned and i need to do something that doesn't involve doing something bad with a bat kind of nerves. Metal concerts are one of the few releases that proves to be an awesome catharsis. Working out helps and a really kind woman would be the others.
Metal's aggressive sound is empowering. I could take my grief and feel sad over a slow acoustic song or "Creep" by Radiohead (not hating on them, just that song is severely depressing in lyrics and action). Or i can listen to metal, and use that empowered anger to get me moving. That and metal shred solos are fucking badass.
As far as the original metal band, Black Sabbath. They are brilliant. It took aspects of 70s psychedelic rock, blues rock, and that heavy downtune of their guitars to create something different and harder than Led Zeppelin. Tony Iommi's guitarwork is terribly underrated because his skill really is comparable to Jimmy Page. That is why Graveyard and The Sword all bow down to Sabbath.

Please, in the future, when you mention Creep, please refer to the performing artist as "The Group That Would Eventually Become Radiohead"
And I honestly don't know what I would do, if I couldn't drive around blaring some loud, angry, against the grain metal, there is no better way to relieve frustration.
Mastodon - Rammstein (Friday LN at Which) - Cluth - Maylene & Sons of Disaster - All That Remains - As I Lay Dying - underOATH - Asking Alexandria - the Devil Wears Prada - Of Mice & Men
You were doing alright up to Clutch. Everything after that, go to the Warped Tour already and stop calling that shit metal.
