agreed. The "metal" bill has improved after a couple artist additions, but still leaves me with something to be desired. Pelican was a great add for me though, so no more complaints.

metal/rock is SUPER weak this year. Pelican and valient thor, meh. danzig and alice cooper? danzig could give a fuck. and alice cooper...maybe at the local rock radio festival, not late night at roo.
the entire lineup this year lacks some serious gusto. i sold my ticket last week, maybe next year guyz.
I really hope Danzig doesn't mail it in like he almost always does these days, because I'm really looking forward to the Misfits set, and bits and pieces of the solo set. His solo career went bad pretty fast. "Wicked Pussycat" is catchy, but it just sounds so shitty. I'm scared to listen to the most recent album. I could care about Samhain or whatever. That shit is boring.
If Alice Cooper sucks, which I hope he doesn't (and I hope he has his full stage get-up - if GWAR can, so can Alice!). If he does, though, I'll just go to the SuperJam and get a good spot for GZA hopefully.
I randomly found out about MonstrO, its on the schedule. Might have to check that out before too, or do I want a surprise like Band of Skulls last year?
If Alice Cooper got a LN slot, I imagine it has to be pretty good.

I saw Monstr0 a couple weeks ago opening for Clutch. They were alright. Nothing to write home about, but it is known I have different metal tastes than some people on here.
I have heard a lot of good things about Alice Cooper's show recently. I knew a couple of people who went to the tour with him and Rob Zombie. All said Alice Cooper was the highlight of the show.
I think the only metal band at Roo I have not been excited about so far is Shadow's Fall.
Would love to see Gojira Neurosis Ghost Candlemass Porcupine tree (Not really metal, but kicks ass) ...or any Steven Wilson project Iron Maiden...of course

I've seen Alice Cooper 5 times since 1990 and he's gotten better over the years. He kind of stopped aging when he stopped drinking and he's really done a great job of keeping his band stocked with young guns who bring a lot of energy and still have that "something to prove" mentality. Current guitarists are Orianthi and Ryan Roxie, both of whom are outstanding.

Valient Thorr kicked major ass! Got to meet Valient Himself after the show, and he was really down-to-earth and appreciative of everyone who came to see his band.
MonstrO was great except for the sound issues (vocals were very low in the mix). I feel like I spotted their bass player a dozen times throughout the rest of the weekend.
Yeah, I posted about them last year in this thread. Bummer they weren't there. Them and Whores. are the best up and coming sludge metal bands to come out of Atlanta. Both of them would be awesome cafe acts.
Here's Whores.
Here's a real awesome metal band from Chicago, with vocals no less. We got Pelican this year, we should get Indian next.

The lack of metal was my biggest gripe with this year's lineup, even though I still totally loved it. If I wasn't so dead tired by Valient Thorr, I would have stayed for more. They were awesome for the 5 minutes I was there.
I will say though, I was very pleasantly surprised by how awesome the Danzig Legacy set was. I came mainly to say I saw him, to see a couple Misfits songs and to see him do Mother. I came about half an hour in, and I knew it would be farther into the set until I got to Misfits and Mother. I was expecting to be half entertained, half wanting him to hurry up so I could leave. What I got was super fun, old-fashioned metal show that was fun the whole way through. Metal is my favorite genre of music overall, so this show really brought everything full circle and gave me exactly what I needed at that moment. I wish I could have stayed for Alice Cooper, but I saw him back in December, and I needed a good spot for Superjam (and eventually Skrillex). I was really happy to see how many people liked him though. Overall, I ended up being satisfied with the metal this year. I got my fix, and I guess that's all you can really ask for.
Next year though, there are few bands I'd love to see. I know it's not possible to have them ALL, but any would be great:
August Burns Red As I Lay Dying Between the Buried and Me (#1 pick. I think they'd fit great with Roo's diversity, although I know they'd get a daytime set, sadly) Deftones Dethklok The Dillinger Escape Plan (seen em 4 times and they bring it every single time) Dream Theater (another band I think would fit Roo surprisingly well) Lamb of God Machine Head Meshuggah Shadows Fall
Also, although I'd be thrilled if it did happen, I actually don't think Iron Maiden at Roo is a good idea. They would need the What stage, and I don't think they'd appeal to enough of the audience to justify it. Their diehard fans can catch them on tour. If they can pull off an awesome show at Roo though, I'm all for it!
I also don't ever see Rammstein there. Their stage setup is way too ridiculous and involved for Roo. Even on the What stage, it would be a cheaper version of their arena show. They are mind-blowing live though.
I could also do without Animals as Leaders or Mastodon there. I don't dislike either, but I've seen each twice, and neither were quite good enough to get me pumped to see them again. As opposed to bands like BTBAM, DEP, and ABR, who I've seen two (three in a month), four, and three times respectively, and would be thrilled to see again. Just my opinion though, I know there are many Mastodon freaks on here.
Oh, and Sleep. Could do without them entirely. Listened to them and saw them live, and I just don't get their appeal whatsoever.
