Judging by the crowds at some tent shows (coughflorenceandeitscough), I think Bonnaroo has grown to a point where a third stage is necessary.
Where to put it is a tough one given Centeroo's geography, but one solution would be to replace This Tent with an open-air amphitheatre with the stage facing away from the other stages to cut down on sound bleed. That area seems roomy enough to make a change. If not there, then there are probably better areas.
It doesn't have to be as big as the Which Stage area, but it needs to be big enough where you don't have to be on somebody's shoulders to see the stage. Some minimal earthwork and a high-enough platform should get the job done.

Meh. Tents= shade. Which is a lifesaver(or I should say this, that and the other are lifesavers). You won't see any better at an open air stage 150 yards away then you will outsidE the tent. Keep the tents, pleasE. Maybe work on better crowd control

What would be nice is Video boards outside the tent. Maybe right under where it says This Tent, etc. Add video boards outside the comedy tent and movie tents too. Too many people do not get to see comedy or the movie because it's full inside.
I like the stage an tent setup they have in place. If they were to fix anything I hope it would be to make the tent coverings larger so more people could fit in the tents. Also there would be more shade

The original poster is correct that there were crowd problems for some acts this year, but a 3rd stage is not the solution. F&tM should have been on the Which (at least), Mumford and Buffalo Springfield should have been on the What. Roo needs better stage scheduling, not more stages.

2011 was my first ever roo, and I just wanna say that.. Crowds were nice, (and nice looking LOL), Artist were all awsome (keep adding more and work on the Which stage sound, needs surround towers), Tent acts could have started Wendsday night, (second show for each band not just only show), Pipe fresh water in from Manchester for drinking stations in Centeroo. Use well water for showers etc in camping areas. More shade, another shroom fountain in centeroo. More drinking water stations THROUGHT the entire grounds.
As for an extra stage. Cut down on venders a little inside of Centeroo, (have them setup along fences on both sides outside of Arch. THEN, inside Centeroo, from the wood fired pizza place, move it back away from Which some and add third stage there, with it all paved and water fountains like the mushroom fountain everywhere so people can stay cool and wet while in the crowd for the shows. Have alternate timings between Which and new stage so people can just do a 180 and there already at the next stage. Speaking of which even the tent stages could be done like that by increasing the length of the tents with stages on each end and sound booth in middle. Alternating bands on each end.

And lastly...more bakinis and G-strings needed.
Wow. Only good/realistic idea was adding more water stations. Everything else will never be done and for good reason. I would like to see the tents a little longer and with screens though.
I like the idea of a screen for the comedy. Don't know where they would put it but I think that would be kinda sweet. I liked the fact that they put up a a screen on the Which stage but sound issues were a HUGE problem this year on that stage. Fix that first before adding anything else.

I wouldn't mind if they went AllGood style and put a small stage next to the What and ran artists with no time between them. That would free up room in centeroo to move other stuff back and make the Which a louder stage with less bleed. The smaller one could even do dj's and smaller acts that would usually be in tents.
Another stage? do not remove any tents! lack of shade is already a problem. Maybe put a stage against the back fence in the What stage field, like someone said earlier, I could just turn around to another stage. That way being in the back of What Stage puts me in the pit of this new stage, call it the What Other Stage?
A good idea would be to simply grade dirt into and around the outside of the tents so that there is a mild slope from the back to the front. It wouldn't cost too much and a simple 2 foot drop from back to front would enable everyone to see the stage. Right now, unless you get to the front or are literally over 6'2", you are lucky if you can even see the bands' heads poking out above the crowd. Forget about being able to see any of them sitting down (like the drummer). It's stupid. Screens would help, too.
