"in the studio with pac during the recording of hit 'em up" making the rounds on tik tok is making me lol.
TikTok is truly amazing. I don't care that I'm twice the age of most of the people on it, it makes me laugh/think/feel something/etc daily. It's really helped brighten up this dark time.
100%. so far it seems like tiktok is managing to avoid that thing where the hot new social media site turns into just hateful trolling, bad faith arguments, and dunking. i think maybe because there is a music focus it keeps things more fun and light hearted.
i'm still a tiktok beginner though so maybe i just haven't found the dark underbelly yet but i don't think it exists.

oh it's there
There are parts of the app that are basically just rehashing old tumblr arguments and it, just, nah I'm too old for that shit I went through it already ON TUMBLR

I think the algorithm is just so good that you only see exactly what you like. So maybe wankers have a full on wanker-tok situation, but at least I don't need to come across it lol.
If you live in a non-rural location, it’s been pretty standard for the last 25 years to provide a 10-digit phone number since that’s when we’ve had the explosion of new phone lines and area codes.
I still rep my 605 South Dakota cell and it’s wonderful because I have everyone I know from 605 programmed so if I get an unknown 605 number, I know it’s junk and won’t answer it.
it's been wild how my friends, even the ones who knew by my deadname, have just jumped straight into calling me Alex with no problem
I want to think that good people, or people who believe they are good deep down and actively work towards that, will always make the effort. Especially these days with a lot more awareness and openness about this topic. Even if someone has confusion, hesitancy, or questions about the whole idea I think doing the bare minimum of referring to people as they request and view themselves is something everyone should strive for. Sure, there are changes to adjust to. But I think we're in a better place these days than the previous decades and there's a lot more support and information about all this. It helps when major names (like Elliot Page) make headlines for things like this to spread awareness. I know plenty of family who find the whole idea crazy but they're resistant to change in all sorts of facets of life.
Congratulations Alex. Glad you found your way and are working towards a happy life.

I haven't lived in Colorado for over a decade so I never answer 719 numbers

Pros and Cons of living in Colorado? Something i've thought about for long term future but don't know too much about it. Have some family out there and think I'd enjoy the vibe in some areas much more than long island NY. What are the biggest things to know about Colorado?

ask somebody who's lived there as an adult, I left when I finished high school and never looked back, but I was from a rural hell hole in the east

From what I understand, everyone in Colorado moved there recently and they all hate the people who moved there after them.

I wasn't even aware anyone wasn't dialing with 10 digits since cell phones were invented, honestly lol.

Pros: It's beautiful and you're bound to find a spot you love Con: It's cold, but you're already used to that!
One of my best friends lives in the mountains in a small town called Granby and it is sooooo gorgeous there. Decent CoL, too.
Yeah, that's been part of the idea for a little while. My cousin who moved out there years ago and has set up shop with his wife and kids (and some family on his other side who lived there before him) are available for me to visit, crash with, and just get a lay of the land from. I had gotten a "free plane ticket to Colorado" gift from my mom a couple of christmas's ago and just haven't made it work for a variety of reasons. First time off during festival season and then covid stuff.
I'm trying to get some basic shit in my life together so I'm not like on the move anytime soon but it's something I think I would maybe like more than in NY. Years ago the plan was to try to move to the city/BK/NJ/Queens but that never materialized and would be too expensive and difficult all alone now (with a dog) so it's not in the cards anytime soon.

I think you would definitely like it. Your beard would really fit in well with the whole mountain man vibe, too.

For most of my childhood, my town basically had 2 prefixes (the middle 3 numbers), one for state govt, and the other for everything else so you could largely get away with just knowing 4 numbers locally.

I can't use my normal hugging gif bc it's on tenor and not giphy but

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. My beard is nowhere near respectable. I still don't embrace calling it a "beard".
Went to Denver recently and it was 1 degree. Fuck that.
I’d take 1 degree over the swamp weather that will be here in a couple of months.
not me. Love when its hot out and im encouraged to work out every morning because I know ill either be at the pool or beach 4 days a week. Looking better, feeling better. Im good with some sweat. No interest in walking around in actual pain for a full 4 months, hibernating.
I will say it's not as bad since I bought a real winter coat in Chicago, December 2019. I never realized the coats they sell in the south aren't really winter coats. I just assumed the humid 40/30° cold cut through all coats.
I went to Fort Collins/Denver during the spring in 2012 to play roller derby. It was the perfect weather, other than some fires in the distance. Plus, weed's legal. It's too bad it gets freezing there.
