We picked up the plywood to cover the big windows front and back just in case today LD... and we have plenty 'o leftover beer to get through.
Tomorrow we get firewood to augment the grill gas. Should be all set. Will watch the track and get ice on friday if Irene is coming. Shouldn't be me, myself, and Irene. ;D
If it tracks .. Pick up Bonzai on the way. Or I'm gonna go work with Katie Did. After this weekend I miss those cooking for 40 at a time restaurant days!
Looks like might be a rock and roll weekend. Yikes..

The mister is going to the storage space to get coolers, lanterns, fans, batteries, and the camp grill tomorrow morning... I'm hoping that if I wait til tomorrow I'll still be able to get some dry ice (they'll have 90% probability predictions tomorrow, seems silly to buy it before then?).
We lose power up here on Prospect Hill every time a stiff breeze blows so I can only imagine its gonna get annoying if it hits! Mostly I'm worried about losing the 50lbs of meat in our freezer, sigh... I'm more seriously concerned for our neighbors downhill, with the Mystic River...
How much dry ice does one need for a 70 qt cooler? Anybody know?
i will be at a wedding in upstate NY - so I hope it's clear up there...
Otherwise, eh. I live on a big hill, we never get water in the basement, the only (very real) concern is a tree falling on the house. but i dont think its going to be that strong of a storm by the time it gets to our place.
I'm going to DMB Caravan this weekend on Governors Island. Is there a chance this thing gets canceled? I couldn't care less about some rain, but NYC turns into a 8 million person wet blanket at the first sight of a rain cloud, so who knows.
First "the quake", now "the hurricane", are Northeasterners so board they feel the need to thrust themselves onto other regional national disasters?
Anyone remember Hurricane Floyd? Now THAT was a hurricane. My house that I grew up in (Orange County, NY...not near an ocean or big body of water at all) had 5 feet of water in it and I got rescued from my front porch by a boat. George W. even visited my town as it was deemed a national disaster area.
Irene? Come on. (And no, that was not an ill attempt at a "Come On Eileen" joke).

Very possible on the cancel Flay. Tomorrow am will tell us volumes. NYC might take the brunt of it last i checked.
oh man, now the weather stations are saying this is gonna bring a possible chance of torando's for the northeast! Just what I needed to hear...
i am in upstate NY and this is what i am hearing we may get. i lived in colorado for 4 years and had a few very terrifying tornado experiences so i am crossing my fingers that this doesn't happen. not comforting that two touched down last weekend just 20 min away... what is going on w/ the weather these days?? i thought i was safe up here!
hoping everyone on the coast rides this thing out safely!

To me...its looking a bit like Bob. Remember that by the time Bob got to the northeast it was veering east and was a tropical storm...but instead of continuing on to Canada like Earl, it turned west and slammed RI.
I had a terrifying, life-threatening experience during Bob due mostly to not taking it seriously and not preparing properly. Worst part about being overprepared is having extra water on hand...

NYC public transportation total shutdown as of noon tomorrow; Garden State Parkway closing tonight south of exit 98. They 'may' close the NYC bridges and the NYS Thruway tomorrow as well.
Thus far, I think the tristate is getting it worse than NE already! Safe and uneventful travels to anyone trying to get anywhere down there...
I was scheduled to fly to DC on Monday...been postponed thankfully! LRH, Jay, Bunny, Knox, Andrew, Iskew, Ally and everyone else on the East coast....y'all stay safe OK?? I've been through a few hurricanes and a bunch of tornados...don't take it lightly!
